Totally agree The storms are becoming more extreme more quickly then not. Even excluding tornado warnings. I’m in the suburbs near Bristol. One storm severe flooding. Another tornado warnings with some confirmed including taking out the faulkner building. Another one, the lightning was so intense, it was like the sky was erupting. Then this one. Multivortex wedge in NJ. Now I’ve seen everything. Looks like a deep south wedge, similar to the tornadoes on 4-27-11. This is probably EF-3, although one of the damage pics from that development looked EF-4 but it’s hard to tell off a couple pics. Very curious to see how this gets rated.
I am too, this monster was only a few miles away from my home at one point (I live in Cherry Hill) and I never thought I’d be in a situation like that before where my house could’ve been destroyed by a tornado, looking at what it did to those houses in the damage pics it was a real possibility if it had come over here. Hope twisters don’t become a regular occurrence here is all I can say.
@@TheDriller64 Glad you and your family are safe! It is for certain existentially frightening to be around this type of natural power. This outbreak and the one last month were due to an unusual alignment of atmospheric factors that don’t normally occur over NJ (at least all at once). It’s impossible to say if this is becoming more likely or just an extreme coincidence that we had two significant outbreaks of larger, strong tornadoes in one year. Suffice it to say I think people need to start taking all tornado warnings seriously, because this summer has certainly demonstrated that strong tornadoes can occur in most parts of the US, even if they’re less likely in one area vs another.
@@SaoGage Thank you for your kind words. This is a very freaky situation especially for me, as I have been a tornado enthusiast since 2019 and I thought that I’d have to go to Oklahoma to even be near a strong tornado haha. And I agree tornado warnings need to be taken more seriously in every area, especially in light of these recent events.
If it happens to get an EF-4 rating it would be only the third such tornado associated with a tropical system in the USA in recorded history - the two that were officially recorded (as F4 tornadoes) occurred in the 1950s ands 1960s from Hurricanes Carla and (I believe without checking) Hilda. I think the last F3 in New Jersey was in 1990.
My house is completely destroyed in Woodbury Heights. My house and my art studio and bindery in the back of my property. Iam at my grandparents house in oak valley, besides myself. I just don't know what to say... my part of Woodbury Heights near Gateway high school is demolished. My neighborhood has alot of woods and larger properties.... it literally ripped all the trees and woods, out of the ground... it threw an 100 year, large oak tree through my house. The branches went through my roof and into my kitchen... my large deck is now in my neighbors house... my car is buried in a pile of trees... it ripped all the telephone poles down.. there are wires everywhere...and all the roads are blocked with trees. I tucked my self under my stairway going into the basement, and the house felt like it was going to be ripped out of the ground. I always watched videos of this happening to others, and thinking... there's no way, that is horrifying. They always explain the noise and how they will never forget it! It got extremely quite.... then it sounds like a freight train crashing into a jet engine. I could feel the trees being ripped out of the ground all around my house. I could feel and hear the trees ripping through my home.. I thought I was done, I thought I was gonna die for a second time. I've already had a bout with death and was against all odds, brought back while I was in the hospital. Iam still shaking, it feels like my finger is in an electrical socket. I live 45 minutes from mullica hill. Im from Winslow. And this is just terrifying that a tornado was in not far from my area without even knowing. Makes me more aware of what happens.
My earliest recollection of a tornado in NJ is from 1973, when a tornado went through the Sutton Park housing development in Mt. Olive Township, Morris County. I was 10 at the time. Why is South Jersey the tornado valley of the Northeast? Seems like between Trenton and Cape May is where they form.
