I'm so sorry, but every time I look at Whizzer in that leather jacket and light green shirt, he just looks like a chocolate mint and I think it's great.
completely unrelated but i saw you in the comment section of the falsettos video that had captions in portuguese and i find it really funny that i also saw you here and remembered you even though your name says otherwise
In the side by side with Susan Blackwell that was a quick change they did when recording, they said to go an octave up and apparently Stephanie nailed it three times in a row.
OK the fact that Christian Borle can make us hate act 1 Marvin is why he is such an amazing actor because I say "Its easier for actors to get people to like the character they are playing but to get people to hate the character they are playing takes talent and a lot of work and understanding of the character" basically in conclusion Christian Borle is an amazing actor. Thanks for coming to my Ted talk
For the "What is this choreography" bit, just thought you should know those are traditional dance moves within Ashkenazi Jewish culture. You would probably see them at a Bar/Bat Mitzvah or a wedding. If you've ever seen Fiddler on the Roof, there's a whole scene at the wedding where the dancers do things like that.
I had no idea! I’m so sorry if that bit came off as rude or offensive that is never what i try to do. I will make sure after this to educate myself on what I’m making content for
6:57 one of my favourite things about the chess game is it has a rare moment where a character just speaks when Whizzer yells "Marvin?!" (which isn't here) after he leaves to grab the suitcase and the silence after that line and after "it was just a-" hit so much harder for that
I just love when I see someone with an unus annus profile pic (idk if intentional or not) in a falsettos vid or any vid that has probably NO relation to UA in every way possible. Which means to me that you are a cultured person. memento mori. also yes i agree with you
The beauty of the musical is crazy. It opens with a song that basically tells the audience that all of these characters are immature and have a lot of growing to do. Act one demonstrates this through it all. When you sit down and analyze this musical it's so fun.
The part where Marvin knocks over the wall at the end of act 1 will forever be my favorite part of the show. I had not listened to the soundtrack before I watched the show and I thought he would just leave, but then everything went down and it surprised me and it was so beautifully done
As a Jewish person, I can say that the dancing was Jewish to another level and it is amazing to see more Jewish representation among Broadway and plays
They eyebrow from Whizzer, and then the hair pull and how he sings the "I want it all" line from Marvin, I have never gotten past that without rewinding to watch it a few more times.
I’m playing Jason in a production of falsettos and these videos are honestly giving me such a good idea of his character I’ve been watching them for the past 4 days 💀
To be fair to Marvin in act 1 he is trying to adjust. He’s come from a marriage where his wife was a housewife and was there for his every need, he’s not used to a relationship where that’s not the case; especially not one with a man like Whizzer who’s evidently a bit of a player and doesn’t do well with commitment; I reckon Whizzer was probably sleeping around a bit for the first month they were together which is why he’s adamant it’s only been 9 months not 10.
my favorite thing abt falsettos is that theres a recording somewhere where stephanie forgets to pick up the knife and wipe it off during Im Breaking Down and just so, so sadly goes “no” 😭
I first encountered this musical as a child watching the Tony`s on TV. I never really caught on to the whole Broadway thing (Except for Gershwin.) Fast forward to 2021 and I am living in New Orleans and I am learning to become a dramaturg. Obviously I revisited this great musical. The humor is so important here because this is a pretty dark plot, all in all.
kinda real tho like he’s an a-hole but i still like him a lot (but i am praying on his downfall during THBCTAS and when he hits trina) he’s prob my fav overall character seeing he has such a good arc
They have drastically different needs. Marvin is monogamous, Whizzer is clearly not. It is abuse from both sides and I feel like people forget that Whizzer constantly cheats on Marvin and that's real damn taxing on anybody's mental state?? I am not defending Marvin, but people love Andrew Rannels too much to see that Whizzer is quite an asshole as well.
also whizzer is more comfortable in his sexuality while Marvin isn’t. He tries to put whizzer in a more feminine role so he can convince himself he does like feminine/females. Whizzer doesn’t like that though and he just wanted to be himself. In the second act Marvin is comfortable in his sexuality and they are able to be in a healthy relationship
I've said it once, i will say it again. Christian Borle could harmonize with literally anything and it will still sound amazing
Yep.
Exactly
He could harmonize with a garbage disposal and it would be beautiful
Like, say..a harmonica??
A harmonica???
Christian Borle could harmonize with a toad and I wouldn't question anything.
wow i can’t believe Andrew Rannells invented vocal belting.
Wow i can’t believe stephanie J block invented being gorgeous
wow i cant believe christian borle invented acting
Wow I can’t believe Anthony Rosenthal invented being a child
Wow I can’t believe that betsy wolfe invented being an absolute ICON
wow I can’t believe Brandon Uranowitz invented curly hair
I'm so sorry, but every time I look at Whizzer in that leather jacket and light green shirt, he just looks like a chocolate mint and I think it's great.
