Epyon was my 1st MG kit. And it was a nightmare. Especially the hip and legs parts. But what drives me insane was the dry transfer decals. Tbh though its one of the beat looking MG wing kits out there

MG Freedom 2.0 was the first MG I built. It came out in the year I started building Gunpla. Probably would of started with the Exia if it wasn't for it's issues.
My first MG was Gundam The Origin RX-78-2. It was a fun and cool experience. My second MG is the Wing EW Epyon Gundam, that kit was a bit of a weird build because I have joints that are impeccable and then joints that want to not hold a pose at all. I’m sure some top coat on my Epyon could fix that posing issue with joints. My third MG I haven’t built yet is the Wing Zero Ver. Ka the most recent Wing release. I want to use the water slides on it but I’m worried I could fuck it up, which is why I sits in its box still.
Didn't like the creepy part at the end, but this video made me subscribe. As someone who's not a "beginner," but who generally doesn't know what's out there, I love videos like these. Anything like "I think these HG/RG/MG/PG kits are great," or not so great, so I know which ones to avoid, they're all awesome
As a beginner the best kit is something that is available at a low price so if I screw up I don't care so much. My first ones in order were: 1. Grimgerde 2. MS-07B Gouf 3. Exia Dark Matter 4. MS-06J Zaku 2 Had fun with all of 'em. I've got the red & blue astrays, Barbatos and the RX78-2 origin in the stash waiting for when I have time to get to them.
I love all the recommendations but I still doubt Ez-8 because some of my friends who own the kit hated the build due to the fact that the kit is outdated and they're still demanding a 2.0 version of that kit, lol. Either way, I haven't tried building all of these recommendations and this is a good guide for me who regrets buying a Ver.Ka kit (Sinanju Stein) as my first MG (I broke some of the fingers and the front side of the rifle because it fell, lol).
A list of kits you enjoyed most in general would be fun :). Most fun to build, look at or play around with is all fair game. Maybe it could be split into grades if it needs to be? I'd definitely love to see that one.
I think this is pretty cool. You should definitely continue with these. Maybe do one for: - kits to avoid as a beginner - kits to avoid (regardless of skill level) - kits to try (for experience builders) And of course do it for SD, HG, RG, MG, and PG.
Got my MG Ginn from the local shop with whatever else that fit my fancy. It's as what 426 said earlier. It's another super solid grunt. Just finished building mine, and can't wait to get that Insurgent type that was shown in Stargazer.
The problem I always had with Gundam builders would be them seeking instant gratification. Buy a kit, slap it together..DONE!! Look at me!! My friend buys them like they are GD pennies a box. Doesnt do a damn thing to em but build. I finally bought a kit for 100.00 and 3 months later finished it. Custom LED's, fiber optics run for panel lights, scribed new lines and ditched the crappy rifle for a homemade battle hammer. Custom candy reds for paint and I called it complete.
I had only built a few HGs then a couple 1/100 (NG) and my first Master Grade was the GAT- X105- Strike Sword/ Launcher Gundam ( MG Aile Strike was not available) and it was great build... this kit, I would say is in line/ same level as the MG Astray kits, it comes with sticker and dry rub decals, which makes it easy to add the extra detail and not as difficult for beginners as water slides, but are not really required to look good, (I still screw up the odd water slide decal and always try to buy extras)... but I do really really recommend... panel lining!!! that makes all the difference, way more impact than decals and can be done with a simple Gundam style marker, I had used an art supply supper fine marker because when I started Gundam Markers weren't around yet... lol
The Wing MG was the first thought I had for a beginner MG. Glad to see it here. I would love to try my hand at the AGE-1 and Gundam X... If Bandai would freakin reprint the kits! I swear I've been looking for the MG AGE-1 for like 2 years now.

From what I recall, Nemo's another good newbie one, but I mean, I don't imagine someone who is new would see one like that and imagine otherwise. It's not exactly the most complicated mobile suit.
The only list that is exact. 1.BUILD 2.ANY 3.KIT 4.YOU 5.WANT! Stop hyping grades up. Read the instructions and take your time. You can even watch UA-cam to learn how to build the very specific kit you like. Dont let no one talk you out of doing anything because they had a hard time or heard it was difficult and never even tried for themselves!
Tfw the hi-nu ver ka was my first mg kit when I came back into the hobby. Did have a good bit of experience with tabletop games though so probably helped me. Would love to see the top 5 to avoid video!
I’ve got no complaints over this list. I would also recommend Wing Proto Zero, Mk-II 2.0, and RX-78 2.0. All of these selections give a beginner a benchmark of what a MG kit is and can be.

My first MG was the Sengoku Astray. I totally messed it up, ended up trashing it. Then I built the Barbatos. Went much better, but I still don't like the end product. Somehow, MG's don't feel as solid to me as HGs or even some RGs do. So far my most favorite kit has been there RG Nu.
You think you can make a video about underrated things about gunpla? For example, I think having screws in Gundam kits is not a bad thing because if the joint feels loose you can tighten it up and make it feel more solid.
My first mg and first kit was the mg sengoku astray(2015 I think), wish I waited to build it tell I had more experience, the poor thing has a completely destroyed hip joint.

These are some solid recommendations! If I had to add one to this list, I’d add the RX-78-02, the gundam the origin redesign of the RX-78-2. It has a ton of play options & is incredibly solid, the only thing that might be difficult about it is those hands. On an unrelated note, what do you think of the recently-announced eclipse gundam MG?
Actually I have to disagree with the TV Wing, I built it and the transformation parts in the arms are complicated. It's not too hard but the EW Sandrock is much, much easier. I think the EW Wing Proto-Zero is easier then TV Wing as well.

I think wing zero ver ka (not EW) deserves to be in wings position. Its incredibly easy also, is there a gofundme or something for the webcam? seriously not trying to be a jerk but its 2021 and your webcam looks like its from 2011

@@koushiro86 The PG is the absolute best GP01 kit. The HGUC may be over 20 years old, but it's still a decent kit with good poseability and great durability. The RG looks great and poses great, but lots of parts such as the beam saber holders and beam rifle joints are very fragile.
rarely but every now and then I will try one, I really enjoyed the HG meteor unit to go with rg freedom and justice.......if for no other reason then the shear madness of it

I'm surprised you didn't mention the Gundam Mk-II Ver.2.0.
Gundam Mk II is one of those lucky mobile suits that almost all of the kits are really good.

beginners should start with victory 2 ver.ka, zeta 2.0, victory ver.ka, hi-nu ver.ka, or ex-s. after those, everything will be a piece of cake.

I have built MG Ground Gundam, which EZ8 is based on, and it is outdated, but it is a very forgiving kit.
But a newcomer doesn't know if it's outdated.

You change my perspective about astray. I thought the legs are difficult because of the amount of parts.

MG AGE-1 nowadays is pretty rare. Especially the normal and titus.
Agree since bandai didn't make a re run of this kit. It is really hard ti find these days.
