Nonna’s secret apple cake - TORTA di MELE 😋

- ‘Torta di mele’, as apple cake is traditionally called in Italy, is a classic rustic Italian cake - a speciality of Italian grandmas, who all have their own recipe and will not tell you their secret ingredient.
Well we can here reveal that the secret ingredient is LOVE 💛
INGREDIENTS:
• 1kg | 35.27oz Fiji or Golden Delicious apples
• 2 eggs
• 2 lemons
• 200g | 07.1oz sugar
• 200g | 07.1oz plain flour
• 100g | 03.5oz unsalted butter
• 200ml | 7.04fl oz whole milk
• 16g | 00.6oz baking yeast powder
• 2g | 00.1oz cinnamon
• sea salt
• icing sugar for decoration
STEP by STEP:
1. Grate the zest of one lemon and squeeze the juice of two.
2. Melt the butter and set aside to cool down.
3. Sieve the plain flour and the yeast powder and mix them together.
4. Peel and slice the apples, then bathe them in the lemon juice topped up with water to cover.
5. Incorporate 2 eggs with half of the sugar and a pinch of sea salt, then whisk them thoroughly. Add the rest of the sugar and whisk again until the mix looks velvety and fluffier.
6. Add cool melted butter, lemon zest and cinnamon powder and whisk once more.
7. Keep whisking to incorporate little by little the flour-yeast mix, and then the milk still little by little and on a lower whisking power.
8. Fold in the well-drained apple slices, making sure to keep some aside for decoration.
9. Butter the baking tray (26 cm | 39''), dust it with flour and pour in the mixture.
10. Decorate with apple slices on the top and bake for 50 mins at 180°C | 356°F.
11. Let it cool down and dust with icing sugar… then enjoy! 😋

To everyone confused by "yeast powder" - it's a literal translation of "lievito in polvere" but, it's intended as Baking Powder.

They say yeast powder they mean baking powder. It turned out OK but they should say baking powder.
Additional comments.
I used one package of yeast and it actually made it taste like a apple pie.
Don't mix the yeast in and let it rise too much. Just mix it in.
Proceed with the other parts of the recipe.
I'm glad I did this with the yeast.
More pie like.....less cake like. And that's a good thing.

Is baking powder the same as baking yeast powder? In a pie or cake i don't think you'd use actually yeast which I use for bread.

En la descripción estan los ingredientes y la como se hace,
Te envío los ingredients:
1 kilo ( te da en onzas 35.27) de manzanas fiji que son rojas grandes o de las doradas, 2 huevos, 2 limones amarillos, 200 gramos ( que te da 07.1 onzas si usas onzas) de azucar, 200 gramos( o 07.1 onzas) de harina común, 100 gramos( 03.5) onzas de mantequilla sin sal, 200 mililitros ( que te da 7.04 onzas) de leche entera, 16 gramos (serán según Ella .6 onzas) de polvo de hornear, ella colocó levadura pero creo le llaman así allá, 2 gramos( 00.1 onzas) de canela, sal de mar y azúcar glas para decorar. Espero esto te sirva y pongas una carita😀
