Chinese Norinco "CJ 96" 7.62x51mm Ammo Test

- At the range trying out some 1996 production Chinese 7.62x51mm ammo (.308 Winchester). This is steel case, non corrosive Berdan primed ammo with steel jacketed bullet. Both the cartridge case and bullet are copper plated. This particular head stamp is much better ammo than the CJ 95 stuff I tested a few years ago. Test rifle is an Israeli Kar98k in 7.62mm NATO.
Note to long time viewers, if this footage looks familiar that is because it is an edited version of a video that was demonetized by YT some time ago. As always your comments and ratings are appreciated.
I was starting to wonder also I loved that old steel cased stuff shame it dried up in the states here
Great Mauser! A k98 in .308 is pretty close to the ideal rifle in my book.
It certainly has a lot going for it, rugged and reliable, good caliber with lots of ammo selection, lots of options for reloading with cast and jacketed loads from plinking to full power loads. Only thing I don't care for are the "V" notch rear sight and inverted "V" front sight, they are usable but I would prefer a square notch on the rear sight and a straight post for the front.
Hello from BC !Thank you for the interesting video!!!! Allways waiting for your new videos .
I miss the Chinese 308 ammo. Ran fine through my FALs, G3s & M1As.
We found the quality varied from lot to lot. There was some that was over pressure, but most of it was pretty good stuff.
Very interesting to see how this mid-90s Chinese made stuff performs. Your Israeli K98k is nice too.
The Israeli K98k is one of my most used surplus rifles, I like it a lot. The "CJ96" ammo worked better than I expected it would.
Id like to find some surp for my israeli
It's getting hard to find these days.
У китайцев ещё был карабин,на базе М98 ,под патрон 7,62×39 .
Was that in a civilian hunting stye or in a military type configuration?
LIKE!
Thanks buddy!
Love your channel, please do a k98 vs no4 vs m39 comparison. Would love your take on the best shooter
That is an interesting idea and I do have access to all three of those rifles.
🇦🇺😎👍
Thanks.
I actually have a rather... large stocking of this same ammunition, same headstamp as well. I've always wondered if it was too high pressure to put through 7.62 NATO guns but this seems to suggest otherwise.
My experience with the CJ 96 ammo has been good, however I tried some with the Head stamp "CJ 95" and it gave excessive pressure.
Always enjoy your videos
Thanks for stopping by and watching!
The only .308 bolt I have right now is the FR8. Been a while since I put some rounds through it. I should rectify that.
The FR-8 is one rifle that I wish I had bought when they were more affordable and available. I had a buddy with one and it was quite a good shooter.
Long time no see man!!
I really should post more often. Thanks for dropping by and commenting.
Great video, thanks for sharing. I had one of those mausers but it got traded off as a down payment on a Ross. It was a good shooter and I was always sorry I let it go.
I usually end up regretting any guns I sell or trade.
Nice Shooting 👍
Thanks.
nice shooting those are respectable groups with that equipment
Thanks, I guess it's acceptable for a middle aged guy with not the best eyes, and eighty year old rifle and surplus Chinese ammo.
Также и у нас,после 1945 года,делали экспериментально карабины Мосина под патрон 7,62×39...несколько модефикаций,но,принят небыл.
Probably a good idea that they dropped that project.
@@314299 Вы понимаете по русски?
Had one of these rifles and sold it... And I have regretted it every single time I've thought about it since. They were all over before, now they are unobtanium.
When they do come up for sale they command quite the prices now. I've seen them listed for $900 and more.
Ive got 20 or so rounds of old IVI thats all. Had a 48 round box
That stuff is starting to dry up, it used to be pretty common at gun shows but not anymore.
Not to bad for norinco ammo how long did you have the ammo sitting in the sun for
Not long, The ammo stays in the bag until I shoot it. If memory serves me correctly this was done in the spring and it was still quite cool.
