Together with the CV he completely carried that worthless team. The rest were trying to find out what happens when you try to stretch the border beyond breaking point. Really well played. doesn't change the fact that the Monarch is a shit show of a ship.
The British battleship line is what taught me fundamental truth of World of Warships (though I accept it could just be me being bad). Battleships are meant to pick and choose ammo to best suit the situation, but the AP in these ships made me realise life is SO much easier if you just press one and never stop spamming. I've gotten my highest damage record in any ship in the Conqueror by just firing HE and watching the damage rack up. Yes it's cheese but this game encourages cheese, it certainly doesn't encourage playing optimally.
I have to admit, I really don't understand Jingles' constant complaints about AA and Carriers in general. Yes, you aren't shooting down many strike aircraft. But the thing is, THIS IS ACCURATE. Aircraft were notoriously difficult to hit from deck mounted AA guns in WW2, which is where most of these ships hail from. On top of that, were it more "realistic" the strike aircraft would each have an AI and be able to spread out, split up and strike from multiple different directions at once, instead of having to make a single unified pass in formation like an airshow. There is a REASON why Carriers became the core ships around which the modern Navy is built and why battleships are now all museum ships. Because aircraft in general are HUGELY OP against ships and having the ability to make directed strikes using planes is far more effective than less accurate bombardment from a Battleship. I find the balance of them in WOWS to be actually pretty good. In WOWs planes are unrealistically slow, have to strike as a group (allowing AA to damage them more) and can only drop one set of weapons (torpedoes, bombs or rockets) at one time. It is EASY to miss with them (especially against DDs) and the number of "shots" you get off are very small indeed compared to the HUNDREDS of shots sent downrange by other ships. Jingles, I think you need to ease up about them. They are good, and have a solid balance between realism and gameplay. It's not a big deal.
This is one case where the awful British AP penetration came in handy. In any other BB, the shells would probably have overpenned the Colbert at such close range, but these were able to arm and knock it out.
At about 04:48 on the clock Jingles starts talking about aircraft again. Watch this. Bear in mind that he was talking about the traits of the Monarch. His mouth moves for more than three minutes but only bitches about carriers! He doesn't even get to the full list of bad things about the Monarch! Only the tears are real.
Absolutely hated playing Monarch when I grinded her - one of the few ships I've sat down to actually get it over with over the course of a weekend. But actually have one of my highest win rates in her - go figure...
It's the concealment, enables her to go dark and heal every time she gets the crap belted out of her... good HE too, I find myself using HE more than AP on the brit BB line.
Actually Jingles, it is extremely easy to Citadel German BBs, it can even be done in something like the Scharnhorst. Especially at that kind of range and higher. Because the protection from the Belt, does basically cease to exist at those ranges, the angles are so steep that a hit on the Belt WILL, under any circumstance, definitely bounce, but there isn´t much to hit, instead the Deck is now the main area that can be hit reliably, and the Decks are soft as freshly layed turd.
I do miss the good old days of sailing a Cleveland, running AA screen for the fleet, and watching ANY carrier in the game shit themselves and run when they spotted me. Or pushing forwards and losing DOZENS of planes.
Ok, I haven't played the last month or so because of real life... but I love my carriers. Who wants to tell Jingles that overlapping AA bubbles and moving as a fleet/escorts does to a carrier?
Back before they nerfed her I fail divisioned my minekazi into a t10 battle and got top on points because I speced for max stealth. I think I had it down to a hair under 4km. I was never spotted and landed idk how many torp hits lol. Them was the days.
The upcoming AA changes will be awesome. Instead of firing AA at the attacking squadron, it will be spread over both the attacking flight and the orbiting flight The result will be less damage to the attacking squadron, which is awesome. btw, tears make excellent lube.
at first glance, you're right. But if you read the patch notes, it says that each AA gun type will have a CHANCE of firing at the attacking squad. They didn't say how much the chance will be... so it's likely that Russian AA will have an 80% probability of targeting the attacking planes, whereas other nations might have 20%. We just don't know. By the way, another totally, utterly, disgustingly absurd thing about the game is that the AA gunners actually seem to say "boys, there's a flight of enemy planes coming straight at us with their torpedoes, it just wouldn't be fair play to disturb them, let's all keep firing at the planes that are orbiting high up in the air and ignore the ones that actually pose a lethal threat to us" 🙂
@@dclark142002 sure! My point is, let's not get overexcited because WG may set the chance at 5% "in order not to disrupt the delicate BALANS of the game" 😉
With the possibility of 10 - 12 CV'S per match in the near future, I don't think you will be happy the changes to AA. - CV - CV - Hybrid - Hybrid - Hybrid - Hybrid
My results in the Monarch got a lot better when I read somebody's forum post about using the AP primarily. Not saying that there weren't places where the HE would have been better in this fight, but AP is the better choice most of the time in the Monarch. Of course, it's bookended by the KGV and Lion, who are really better off spamming HE, which I think is partly responsible for the underperformance of this boat.
Nothing mentioned about it having the same hull as the King George V, which results in a relatively low amount of HP for a Tier 8 BB? Actually, I currently have this ship to grind for Tier 9 and higher. Sometimes I find myself going back to its Tier 7 brother for more or less better progress.
Torpedo bombers "should" have dived down to drop height prior to entering the "effective" AA bubble. Like in RL. But that's not how they do it in world arcade ships.
M pretty sure that before carrier rework, I at some point on my Kongo, shot down 72 aircraft in one battle. It was so good because my son watched me do it.
I just found this vid and as always enjoy Jingles insights. However, the issue I have is that Monarch with 9x 15" was the first design for the KGVs and Lion with 9x16" was planned and is in the game. Fine, but what about the design with 12 x 14" guns that resulted in the KGV with trimmed down armament of 10 x 14"? It seems to me the 12x 14"design was closer to being built than the Lion.

I wonder if any games like this, with maps this large, have modeled the curvature of the earth into it. I found myself wondering how far the horizon would be if you were in the observation tower of one of these battleships.
On average a battleship tower is about 7 stories high, some higher, some lower. Given that at sea level on a clear day you should see the horizon at about 10 kms then at 7 stories high on a clear day you should be able to see about double that. So if your standing on the observation deck at the highest level in the tower you should be able to see out to about 20kms. Keeping in mind all naval ships have very powerful observation binoculars all over the observation decks. Destroyers although small compared to a battleship are still very large vessels and on a clear day they are very observable at 20 kms. Wake and all. They also had a very noticeable smoke plume like all ships so a spotter would see the smoke over the horizon long before they saw the ship itself. The game having dd's invisible out to only 5 or so kms is laughable. Only way that's happening is if it's dark and the battleship has no radar or the weather is so god awful you can't see 50 metres in front of you which means the destroyer can't see you either no matter how big you are.
He mistimed his AA sector repeatedly (and the one he did correctly, the first one, he shot down a plane almost immediately). He's clearly not using any skills or equipment to enhance his AA. And he wasn't using medium range AA, he was using long-range AA for almost all of that time - literally at the moment you say "long range AA guns aren't going to be the issue", _he's firing AA at long range_ . It's a T8 versus a T10 squadron, with a heal. It's fine to criticize AA, but at least be accurate about it. And I'll also note that the CV only hit him with TWO torpedoes, because he also clearly knows what he's doing with avoidance.
I don't know what Jingles is talking about. The Monarch shot down *10* aircraft. *And* the Malta never came back. People actually believe AA needs a rework 😜 (/s)

You know, I am really wondering how long until they introduce gold ammunition in WoS like in WoT...
The repair party doesnt only repair more, its cooldown is shorter.
To be fair to op in the monarch and its aa guns; monarch had taken a couple loads of high explosive which knocked out a sizeable bit of her aa guns.
"The Colbert doesn't have torpedoes." I hate to point out that doesn't mean he wasn't trying to line up a torpedo strike.
With that title I honestly expected a Haida game.
Hope you are well Jingles
Did you see how the Richthoven annihilated sov. Soyuz in 2 drops?
By the way, another totally, utterly, disgustingly absurd thing about the game is that the AA gunners actually seem to say "boys, there's a flight of enemy planes coming straight at us with their torpedoes, it just wouldn't be fair play to disturb them, let's all keep firing at the planes that are orbiting high up in the air and ignore the ones that actually pose a lethal threat to us" 🙂
If the change goes through, expect nearly all CVs you face to be Russian...as the change is a straight buff to Russian CVs.
@@johnnyenglish583, currently the chance to fire at the attacking flight is zero.
Giving a chance is actually a buff over the current situation...

Anyone else notice the countdown timer in the middle?? Seems a little excessive, eh?
My results in the Monarch got a lot better when I read somebody's forum post about using the AP primarily. Not saying that there weren't places where the HE would have been better in this fight, but AP is the better choice most of the time in the Monarch. Of course, it's bookended by the KGV and Lion, who are really better off spamming HE, which I think is partly responsible for the underperformance of this boat.
Never have I had more fun in world of tanks than running a triple tog platoon with friends.
It's the size of the fight in the dog... And this dog had a LOT of fight in him...
Carrier really carried that game
Nothing mentioned about it having the same hull as the King George V, which results in a relatively low amount of HP for a Tier 8 BB?
Actually, I currently have this ship to grind for Tier 9 and higher.
Sometimes I find myself going back to its Tier 7 brother for more or less better progress.
Jingles "Aircraft carriers are swine"
Manfred Von Richtofen "Am I a joke to you?"
At this point the people running the wiki should change the AA description on every ship to say None, Terrible, Very bad, and Bad
Torpedo bombers "should" have dived down to drop height prior to entering the "effective" AA bubble. Like in RL. But that's not how they do it in world arcade ships.
To paraphrase the dwarves from Warcraft 3: "it's not the size of the hammer that counts, it's how ya wield it"
Why did I read that with a Scottish accent..?
10:45 pretty sure its "Ahhh Zoo Maa"
M pretty sure that before carrier rework, I at some point on my Kongo, shot down 72 aircraft in one battle. It was so good because my son watched me do it.
Got that DAWG in him
I just found this vid and as always enjoy Jingles insights.
You gotta remember jingles no planes where shut down during ww2 so this is 100% accurate 😂
My internal alarm system was skewed because of yesterday's festivities (American Thanksgiving) and I didn't get up at the normal hour. My feline overlord was insistent that I get up about an hour ago ( it's 06:35 local time) and wouldn't take no for an answer.
All that's taken care of now.
For all the Jingles junkies throughout the world, I hope that if yesterday was a holiday for you, it was a good one spent with people you love who got along the whole time. If it wasn't a holiday for you, I hope you still had a day worth celebrating.
To the gnomish overlord himself, thanks for providing me with entertaining content I can enjoy while eating or doing chores, it makes the drudge work a lot easier.
As always, keep the fuzzy mistresses well supplied with treats and scritches please. 🐈🐈⬛🐈⬛👑✌️🖖
about long range cits-i did something yesterday that i didnt believe was even possible- in the pathetic Kansas,i managed to citadel a new carolina at 24,almost 25 km away,i was very suprized and the player in the n.c. said "how the hell did that happen"
10:45 - haha actually right the second time :P Generally with three-syllable Japanese words... well okay a native Japanese speaker might tell you that Japanese is a "flat" language and they don't actually stress any of the syllables, but as a native English speaker I hear the first syllable as stressed.
I wonder if Jingles knows about the artillery bug observed/noticed by Flamu, I think weeks ago.
AA has gotten so weak even WG apparently has noticed. See their “AA rework”. We will all, of course, believe it when we see it.
Fabulous!!!
You forgot to mention very good fire chance of HE shells (which is the quality of British battleshipsa)
TOG is love, TOG is life!
7:52 did you notice that 20k bomb drop ?
Hey Jingles ! Love these videos... any replay available of the Cristoforo Colombo ? Sexiest ship in the game in my humble opinion
There more I see of Jingles videos, the more apparent it is that he doesn't play the games anymore.
I don't know what Jingles is talking about. The Monarch shot down *10* aircraft. *And* the Malta never came back. People actually believe AA needs a rework 😜 (/s)
I really love the game
Oh jingles don’t you see. The spreadsheet says cvs are fun and profitable so its only fair they buff them to the point they’ll start adding American Nuclear carriers soon.
and on the topic of the pain of dealing with the fun police, i would like to point out the the friendly Ricthofen killed 5 ships, came second on the leader board, and could be scene sending battleships with 20,000 or more of their HP on express journey's to the shadow realm...
Your the reason I got the tog XD had several fun games in her
Can we talk about the timer for the Key Areas?
Seems like the ship has a pretty decent turn of speed for a BB too.
So Monarch ain't that good? We all know you are biased. Your favorite ship is without a doubt Gneisenau, you never let a chance mention Gneisenau pass. I bet it is by far the most mentioned ship during the years. 😉
Keep up the good work.
