The one and only. The original. Full of swagger and confidence. The general of generals. His riddims started a whole other genre: reggaeton. He put dancehall on the internatinal map. he's been imitated but never duplicated. Much love from this Haitian woman. Only respect!!
Agreed
Total truth ❤️
This kind of music needs to come back
Shabba Ranks was the TRUE epitome of representing black and black people 24/7 and not just black Caribbean but black people world wide.....next to Bob Marley and perhaps Tupac, he is the only one in the Music industry that truly didn't sell out in his songs, videos (always had black women and people in his music videos), and overall lyrics and rhetoric!! Mad Respect!
From like 95-05, as long as the atmosphere was set with mainstream tracks, when I delicately made my way into the more true dance hall sounds, we had every kind of human into a unity party.
And there was no silly stuff going on. The mood was set and there was just an understanding.
The few times that a rich kid acted up it was handled correctly. Nothing violent, just a quite scary little warning and I gave them a nod of appreciation.
It's sad that if something happened, I would have never gotten the leeway from management that I would have if I just kept the mix plain with Beyonce and the commercial hip hop, but that was known so the right people kept the party clean.
When the women are having so much fun, real men respect that and they take pride in being a part of something special.
This music created reggaeton so it truly was multicultural.
But yeah, Shabba should be respected for staying true to the culture and the music because I'm sure that those snakes at the labels were ready with serious cash for him to water it down so that he would be more accessible to the mainstream.
My dad would sing this to me as a kid and I always wondered where it came from but,.... Good reggae.
+Asap Linehan Hey, Whats the meaning to this song?
Jones: I miss the days of the real historical Jamaican rap: U-Roy, I-Roy, Dennis Alcapone, U-Brown, Big-Youth. Prince Buster, Lone Ranger. etc. This was the syncopated recitative style of real reggae with compound vocal rhythms.

@Don Williams It's okay to be white
No matter what, We still luv being that strong melanin color!..I really wouldn't want to be white, no matter how great you feel to being white...It might be hard @ times, but I still wouldn't trade my melanin in...The power we have, yet to be fully felt & discovered, amazing feeling...We are coming full circle...Just imagine a fully functioning penal gland!..I could go further, but I will calm dwn...Not just about the rhythm we have, deeper than that...
We said what we said & we meant what said!..
@Don Williams Nooo thank you. Wouldn't trade for all the riches in the world! 😊👍🏾
To whom it may concern: Take that same energy to go figure out why you have recessive genes, low birthrate, calcified penal glands, etc...Then why your ppl like to commit mass killings, become serial killers, plot to kill spouses, etc...The Bible says it's a cursed skin mutation...Low IQ, ok, keep using that old lames$$ line...I know/knew PLENTY of good, well to do POC, who have good careers, very smart, & lived productive lives!..Until you figure out YOUR ppl's problems, stop following us & have a GREAT day...lol

Dancehall is one of my favorite genres of music. This shit gets me going every time! I have this on Vinyl and the tape is worn out. I love how Dancehall showcases such good beats and just a happy vide. All the kids are smiling! All the kids are going to school and dressed in Private school uniforms. In the video, Shabba shows the hard working people of where he is from, representing. Just think of ANY american rap video. Where would they showcase kids smiling and gong to school, having their smiling parents walking them out the door to school. " I get the willpower from God Alll might T " Taking about God in his lyrics.Classic! And people working blue collar jobs, pushing carts, teachers dressed up nice, respecting themselves? Just every day people in Jamaica living their lives. Not trying to be thugs or gansta. Or showing who has the coolest car. Just real people. That 's the reason this shit hit so hard. All those Crab rappers, they rapping like Crabs...
Just people being authentic and representing their culture.! Love it!
