Thank you so much Gloria. If you don’t have the same machine as mine. You can set the stitches very loose . From the start, back stitch and at the end no back stitch and pull the thread out a bit long so you can use the thread to pull to make it ruffle as I showed in the video Love you Vivian
Ms. Vivian you definitely are a Mind reader! I just recently cut my curly hair short. It's been a LONG time since i've had my hair short. i had forgotten that with short hair how when i sleep i wake up looking like Medusa's child. Or as my husband likes to call me Beetle Juice, smh. so i've been wantig to get a nightcap, but i keep forgetting to get one. a tip for those of you like myself whose sewing machine doesn't have the ruffle feature available on it. there are two ways to make the ruffle. on the sewing machine: set your stitch length to 4 and the tension to 4 as well back stitch when you start, but do NOT when you end and leave a long tail at the end. on the loose strings, pull the top string( your top stitch) VERY GENTLY. if you pull to hard you will break the string and have to rip it out and do it all over again. the other option is to do it by hand ( I prefer this way, bc i always break the string when i do the machine method.) double string your needle and do a small basting stitch. you can tie off one side. when you get to the end leave it on the the needle then gently pull both strings and manuver the ruffles around so they are evenly spaced. then tie it off. If you are worried that the 1/2" seam allownce won't be exact. you can measure it off first and mark it with an erasable cloth pen or chalk marker etc. that's what i use when i want it to be exact. Then continue with Ms, Vivian's directions. also another tip. to help avoid the frizzies, on the inside layer of cloth use a silk. However, when sewing it. to help it flow through the machine easier have your cotton on top. Ms Vivian I hope you are feeling much better now.
