Earlier this week I managed to get past that awful interloper platforming map without falling off. In HL:S no less. And then the Nihilanth bugged out and I didn't get G'man'd.
You missed my favorite one, where you can completely skip the entire section in route canal where you climb the tower and shoot at the gunship, and it's the easiest skip in the game if you know what to do the big doors that block your progress close when you exit the pipe. drive towards the pipe, but exit the vehicle before you actually leave the pipe (let the boat drift a few feet ahead). now enter the boat. voila, entering the boat teleports you through the trigger that closes the doors
i actually did that interloper skip when i first played through the full campaign and didnt realize there was a underground area until like a year later
I usually skip we got hostiles by making a headcrab jump up near the vent on the other side of the chainlink fence and using it as a footstool to get over the vent and into it then crawl to the silo door controls.
You forgot one in office complex that big room with headcrabs that fall from the ceiling well you know that guard in the previous room get him to follow you and head over to the locked red door and push him up against it and then you can skip the freezer room.
I was playing half life 1. in the part where you have to put the XEN fragment. right at the same time I put it in. I got in by accident. I was literally in the fuel part of the battle against the tentacles Try it. Can't replicate it
A fun fact about skipping the first section of On a Rail at 0:42: If you have the tram running nearby, it will follow the path that goes to the lift after the level transition if you time it right
You can also skip the first underwater swimming section at 1:20 by doing a very well placed long jump to leap over the gate across the room. It does save a little bit of time.
You're supposed to ride the pillar all the way to the top and then jump down a dozen flying moving platforms while a bunch of alien controllers terrorize your ass. Eventually you can sync back up with the flying ship thing and it'll take you to the portal.
You're supposed to go forward into an underground section with a Xen gas chamber where you can break some vines, from there, *that's* when you jump on the column thing and then you have to drop down a bunch of platforms until you get low enough to one of the airships and then go to the teleporter.
There is a way to skip the first fight with the ichthyosaur and a way to skip a big part of "we have got hostiles" both by using barnacles, with the ichthyosaur the barnacle is placed next to the broken platform that leads to a door, while in "we've got hostiles" there are a lot of barnacles in the place were there are two bridges, you can use the barnacle that is the nearest to the top fence to get to the upper bridge without having to go through the turrets.
In questionable ethics you can skip the whole getting the tau cannon, and blowing a hole into the wall part, by going to the door where you can see that shit you have to shut down, and pressing the action key near the door, with that you can open the door by interacting with the switch trough the wall. ( my english sucks but i hope its clear what im talking about )
Blue Shift also has a strangely high number of skips for how short it is. I know you can skip pretty much all of Power Struggle and a large chunk of Duty Calls
I knew like most of these tricks. For HL1, surprisingly, I NEVER like skipping parts with these tips because believe it or not: I actually love playing the WHOLE game. HL2 on the other hand, I will gladly take these shortcuts because there's a lot of repetitive parts of the game.

Hl1 is literally one repetitive corridor, hl2 on the other hand has you explore the city and take in the games atmosphere and worldbuilding, running through the canals dodging trains while gunning down cops and later having the enemies use explosive barrels on you after waiting for you to put yourself in a disadvantagous position only to then turn the tides and use their large supply of explosions on them in awesome setpieces. driving through the canals and polluted rivers using an airboat and getting into chases with helicopters dropping bombs on you and dodging rockets of stationary tanks, only to then use one of the same guns they have and gun down tanks, cops and the helicopter that has been harrasing you the entire chapter. then you go through an abondend mining town with a focus on horror and varied traps you can set for the zombies, you then transition into driving a buggy through the coast but its different from the airboat level even since its got a much more quiet and subtle atmosphere with a focus on stopping and exploring... you even get to operate a crane and traverse a destroyed bridge with hundreds of feet underneath you, you then advance to an area where you have some fun yet grounded platforming as you have to avoid stepping on the sand to avoid combat with antlions, but instead of just having set places to jump to you can use the objects around you and create your own path and if you f up you dont have to restart you just get to kill more enemies, this then concludes with a boss figtht that lets you take control of the antlions and raid a high security prison with the enemies you just fought... this then leads to you using turrets to kill waves of enemies as you focus on pure defense where as the rest of the game youre fairly aggressive. After this you lead a squad of rebels in the uprising chapter which is the only boring gimmick in the game, its made up for in the next chapter as you get 45 minutes of pure power fantasy as you evaporate enemies in a split second by what feels like the hundreds... all of this is in mostly unique yet standard environments. half life 1 only has a rail that you use to move through more steel corridors as variety. Sure there is a little bit variety here an there with a room full of tripmines you navigate, but that even exists in half life 2. There arent many chapters that focus on being different from the last in its entirety and the whole game takes place in steel corridors and xen for the last 8 percent

I know a small skip in HL2, you can shave off a few seconds or a minute off in highway 17. If you let out your inner speed demon and cross the bridge that you have to first crawl under to disable a barrier, just before the train blocks the way forward as the gap can become barely wider than the Sand Rail as the train almost dinks your rear tire, I did it twice but never again because I lost my enthusiasm towards driving the cars in the games, so I couldn't maneuver as well. (Sand Rail is a type of buggy, it's the most likely answer to the Scout Car real life counter part)

I skipped blast pit on my first playthrough (sort of). I really don't like that part I find it tedious, if you shoot the tentacles enough, they will retreat down, you can then jump on their heads to give you a free lift down to the exit. You've got to do it all very quickly though
I don't know if it's a good idea to keep calling them shorts. Too many people might assume it's an actual short and not bother watching it. Other than that great video as always :)

Wait a minute, you can shoot the barrels where you get teh grenades in 2? I am certain an update made it where the barrels are impervious to everything but the nades.
i usually just stack up a lot of barrels on top of each other to get through that gap on the fence at 1:29 lol, i do always enter the building just to get the revolver tho
One thing I've learned is that in Sven Coop, the WGH skip is fixed so the scientist doesn't stop even when shot, so another method is kill binding right at the edge of the window, you will start falling through slowly, then get someone to revive you ASAP: you should revive inside the cabin.

I realized there was an underground area but got stuck and ended up accidentally doing the interloper skip without knowing it was a skip

Today I learnt that the stingray skip isn't the official way to beat this level.

I have had problems with that jump in the latest patch, it's easier on the WON version, tho

The airboat has a really janky shit hitbox so jumping on it is like climbing a wet and soapy slide
