Honestly, the giving the sheets music for free at that quality and dedication... it is invaluable. Truly, great work and thanks for sharing it with the World.
I think Satie would be proud of how you have explained this piece to us beginners. It allows us to focus on the dynamics. You've inspired me to to learn this for my 3rd recital piece in the spring. Thank you.
Dear teacher, I loved it. It is amazing how you're able to describe patterns and nuances of music. I've just found your lessons (from the Bach Prelude in C minor tutorial) and already feel so grateful for them. I'm just a beginner, know almost nothing about tecniques. Your way of interpreting and expressing the essence of a piece feels genuine and gets straight to my understanding, without unnecessary complications. I'm eager to study with your help. Thank you! ❤
I really like your take on teaching such a wonderful piece! :) When I first heard it in some tv documentary it was always stuck in my head, but took me years to actually find out the author & name 😅 For some reason I only started learning the piano at age 40, but love that decision every day still
Your video is exactly what I was looking for : I already learned the piece via other tutos since I can't read sheets, but it sounded "messy" because I don't know when to play hard/soft and how to use correctly the pedal...You explain very well these details that make all the difference so thanks a lot sir! Keep it up please 👍
The best tutorial for Gnossienne No.1, that I've seen on YT so far. I loved your interpretation of this piece. With much appreciation and thanks. 👍🏾❤🤗💚
Thanks for providing specific help with using the pedal! Will try the full then half technique you’ve demonstrated and see if that sorts out my mushy sound… a great job, much appreciated.
OMG i was so confused because the score I got has no pedaling and I'm not able to play it fast enough to see if Im getting the rythm and pedaling correct but you play it exactly the way I was thinking. I wish there were more tutorials like this not just showing the keyboard while somebody plays... Thank you for your help
about to get into learning this piece and this video is an amazing help! its so great to have a resource like this im sure ill watch it at least 20 times in the process of learning haha
@@Antune good evening professor, if you may ask a question, I am trying to play the piece on a Yamaha P45, would you recommend using the pedal just like you? I currently use the pedal all the time, is it wrong? an apology for my English, greetings from Mexico and thank you !!
@@ricardoflores1969 Hi there, you can try the same pedaling as I do. I wouldn’t keep the pedal constantly, no matter what kind of instrument you are playing with. It will be too blurry and the harmonies will be mixed. I would change the pedal at least every next bar. Good luck!
7:18 Why do we play the melody with middle and index finger for the most part, instead of the thumb? Especially when we resolve to F at the end of the phrase, I see you play the F key with your index. Is it because of the legato nature of the piece?
This is great. I assume that's not the sostenuto middle pedal, is it? I was wondering if that would be worth trying to have the bass note sustain while everything else controlled by just holding down the keys. And that F above middle C in the melody that has to be raised to play the left hand gives it a staccato effect that is slightly distracting to me. He wrote it that way, but still.
Hi, it is definitely worth to try. I haven’t used in this video though. I would still add the sustain pedal for the cords, while keeping it with the sostenuto pedal. If you do so, the last cord won’t have the staccato effect. Good luck!
Hello! Sorry by my english ...I`m taking your tutorial as refference to learn this beatiful melody: could you please share the musicsheet with your musical arrangement? Thaks!!!
Hi Dino, thanks for the comment. I am planning to do that in the future for all my tutorials, but I am afraid it’s not a possibility at the moment. It takes about 3-5 weeks to make a tutorial as I am doing it myself. Hopefully, in the future, when I have some people who help me, I’ll do include the scores with my musical marks. All the best!
Hi Kim, it is hard to say because I find it a little problematic to categorize the pieces by difficulty. Everyone might experience it differently, and everyone has different capabilities. Perhaps you can take a look at my playlist, which I named “Tutorials Level A”. These pieces are the easier ones in my experience, I hope you can find something you like. Good luck!
Thanks! This tutorial is one of the older ones in this channel. I have improved the camera motion in the newer videos. I hope they don’t make you seasick! All the best.

Many thanks for the kind words!
The dizziness of the head mount camera is positively perfect for this piece.
this video deserves a lot more views and support. An amazing way of describing how to play.
Many thanks! 🙏
totally agree. earned a sub from me!
Absolutely 💯
Finally a tutorial with pedaling explained. Such a crucial part that almost everyone ignores.
I am a beginner and this is my first real classical work that I am trying to go through and this video is amazingly helpful. Thank you so much !
Really glad to hear that!
Many thanks!
I am so thankful for the great fingersetting and the free sheet music!
This is the best tutorial for Gnossienne ❤

Simply THE best interpretation of this piece imo. Also a great guide. Thank you man, you help A LOT of us
Thanks!
Many thanks! I look forward to getting the music, reviewing the tutorial, as I work on this piece phrase by phrase.

What should be the next from Erik Satie?
Thanks for making this video! Really helped me in finetuning the Satie sound.
Hypnotic Gnossiennes ;)
I’m working on fine-tuning the Gnossiennes no. 3 and 4. Love to hear your tips on these ones.

OMG! Awesome video! Why didn't I know about the channel?!?!
Thanks man! I was waiting to tell you in person! I am looking forward to meeting you next week!💚
Great video. Thank you so much!
I would very much love it if you could do a tutorial from Bach’s French Suite no. 5 ( Suite in G) it would be terrific!😊
It's on my to-do list!
Thank you ❤

Is it because of the legato nature of the piece?
Just anatomically, it fits better, I think. Also, the combination of 2-3 indeed helps execute the legato melodically and naturally.
@@Antune Thanks man :)
Obrigado pela aula!
love this video!
Thank you!!
Excellent
Thank you so much !!
Perfect👍
I loved this video, very well explained and very soft. Where can we find the pdf of the sheet so we can download it.
Thank you!
You can find the scores down in the description. Good luck!

Hvala🤗
What about the tempo? I want to practice it with a metronome
You can choose a very comfortable tempo (quarter note =50bpm for example) to start with metronome, and gradually increase the speed up to 110bpm.
@8:12 Davie504 has entered the chat...
(so not only did Satie do "jazz" before it was cool, but also slap bass? 😎)
i have to practice the pedal parts more it sounds too sharp :/
Good content, but the continuous camera movement makes me seasick!
Thanks! This tutorial is one of the older ones in this channel. I have improved the camera motion in the newer videos. I hope they don’t make you seasick! All the best.
me too. Excellent tutorial otherwise.
Have I missed sth or there was nothing about pedalling?
11:10 Here I talk about pedalling.
"It is very beautiful", omg I just found the best way of demonstrating how not to be stagnant with piano playing to my 7 year old son!
just teach it already
