Let's be honest and admit that there's so much trash on UA-cam, but let's also celebrate the fact that it has opened our eyes to how many sensitive and talented musicians there are out there. This is one example, and it's heartening to realise that some of these brilliant people are prepared to share their gifts without a big stage, a screaming public, and tickets costing as much as would feed a poor family for a year. Respect and thanks to you madam.
Big confusion. Perhaps that-'s not sensitivity, but merly seduction... I 'm sure that Satie is ironising sarcasticly in his tumb journey. Sensitivity is not infantilism.
I found it superb. I may be very biased, but on piano, I think only Aldo Ciccolini really knows how to play Satie. Unfortunately, I can’t know how Satie would‘ve played this himself. But it seems obvious that this piece can only ‘work’ when it has just the right amount of tension, just the right amount of sensuality, just the right amount of livelyness against melancholy; all jùst right. And then it is immaterial perhaps what instrument it is played on. And that, I think, you demonstrated here. Just beautiful.
I completely agree. I've heard other pianists beside Ciccolini play Satie, and they're just not quite right. Ilona does a fantastic job of recreating the same nuanced emotional presentation. Excellent!
Which raises the interesting but difficult question of whether the beauty of the music, the playing and the guitarist are in someway the same, or in completely different categories, and therefore incomparable. I tend to think the former.
Possibly true but not what I meant. I was focusing on the philosophical question whether the beauty of the woman and of the music have something in common. But yes they are synergistic.
very fine work of adaptation, w/ intelligent use of the open chord, of glissandi, of hammering / pull-off... Makes it all sound very natural and fluid, "like it was written for the guitar", so many others say. Bravo !
One of my favourite Satie pieces that I have long played on the piano - It's very beautiful on the guitar too, and you play it wonderfully, and it gains so much in subtlety of tone through your beautiful guitar.. Thank you for sharing it!
Its funny how our playing changes as we age. I thought the amazing speed solos and triplet runs across the fretboard were incredible at first and i strove for that. Then i saw the amazing speed fingerpicking of those heavy bluegrass players and felt how much power could come from acoustic instruments. The more i understood how scales and modes were organized in songs to create drama and feeling the more music i enjoyed. I had become starstruck seeing these jazz guitarists just artistically shredding these electric guitars perfectly w totally clean tone . Now hearing this classical guitar its not so "boring" to me. Its become exciting and magical to follow and understand, to hear scales rooted from the accent notes of the chords of a seperate scale and having the capability to hear and follow that art makes it 10x more amazing. What had excited me most of this piece after i listened a few times was that i could recognize this same pattern in a Joe Satriani song i love 🎸 this was a stunning performance
I found "Evocation" and was captured more by your emotion to the playing and sound of the piece. I clicked on the link on there and found you playing my "Soul" music piece. With heart. I stopped playing due to soulless relationships and it killed my Spirit. I will learn both of these pieces now and I believe I may find my way home once more. Thankyou. Again!
Haunting, beautiful, discordant yet orderly, and tranquil all at the same time. Like pearing through a window while slowly riding along a small country road through Turkey. Yes, my imagination jumps around sometimes😄. Well done! Thank you for sharing your beautiful playing with us.
Satie's music has been my favourite for dacades. Beautiful music played absolutely Beautifully! Ilona - Thank you very much and Keep On Playing Your Guitar!

I find it really sad that someone like you, making music that truly touches my heart and soul does not have at least 1 million subs. yet there is so much mindless trash out there with millions. You deserve better than this world.
It never even crossed my mind that this piece could be played on the guitar and I find it even more beautiful than on the piano. Exquisite is the word that comes to mind. You play like an angel, and as anything coming from heaven it is simply perfect.
Beautiful playing.Never heard this piano piece played on the classical guitar before. The dreamy, languid atmosphere is evoked really well.Reminiscent of Debussy's Reverie or Clair de Lune.
Very nice. I love the way you hold the notes for so long. For me, this piece needs as much sustain as possible and doesn't work on the guitar if certain notes are cut short. Your interpretation is the best I've seen on UA-cam. (Including John Williams)
Great performance, as always! 😊 In my opinion, your playing style fits very well with the melancholic, sad songs. I like that you play the grace notes in a relaxed way, which makes them match the character of the piece. I often hear performances where they are too sharp. The blue light works really well in this piece. I can feel the climate of rainy Paris 😂 ❤

Not only travelling in distance but inn time both forwards and backwards into the depths of our knowledge and feeling. This will be my selection for all future plays of this music. Hope you have a wonderful Christmas celebration with young children surrounding you, anxiously awaiting you playing Christmas Guitar music for your loved ones gathered. 💖💫
While you play, Ilona, I delight in listening to this beautiful Satie song that your fingers magically produce on the guitar strings... Amazing! Congrats! 😉
I randomly figured out the opening by ear last night.. watching you play the rest, I'm going to struggle. Such a beautiful piece and a great performance!
I don't have enough technical knowledge of music to describe this well, but her playing has a directness that's very appealing. The music is somewhat dreamy, and it's puzzling that her approach is so effective.
I wish UA-cam had an "I absolutely love this" button! Very sensitively played with exquiste delicacy.
Thank you so much! ❤

Check out French classical guitarist Sebastien Llinares, he has released an entire album of Satie's pieces arranged by himself on guitar.
@@TheElderOne28 thanks, I will look them up
Yes it is nice. On the other hand I prefer the piano for the classical pieces. The same for Bach etc.
John Williams used to play this on classical guitar, and his recording was a favourite of mine for years. This, too, is a superb rendition.
Imagine this light guitar theme with warm chello background.
Thank you for sharing your talent and beautiful music!

I would agree that the beauty of the music, the woman, and the playing are integral, and therefore one, as pertains to this performance.
