      ¡Hola! Disculpe la demora en responder, pero quería darle algo más personal que Google Translate y, bueno, con los niños, rara vez hay tiempo, y luego lo olvidé.
      De todos modos, no hablo español con fluidez, pero estoy tratando de aprender y quería responder sin Google Translate, pero nuevamente, simplemente no hay tiempo.
      Me alegro de que mis videos sean útiles. Nunca esperé eso, especialmente de los videos sobre los rociadores/atomizadores de agua. No obstante, me alegro de que sean útiles y espero que veas una larga vida útil de los tuyos.

    After watching how to disassemble, nothing really worked to fix the trigger getting stuck issue. So I ended up stretching the spring out about 1/4 longer and bam it's fixed, been having this issue for years. Now the spray bottle shoots much further as well, I use the mist function on mine, it doesn't affect the mist.

    not the new ones, which break down within days! Planned obsolescence at

    • @TechAddictAttic
      @TechAddictAttic  4 роки тому

      Problem is, well, I don't know where you live but where I live everybody wants to save a buck. You can have two identical things on a shelf, and if the one on the left is half the price of the one on the right, the one on the left sells. This is a no-brainer, of course. So the store sources less expensive products that look and work almost exactly like the original. This increases the store's profit margin, which is another no-brainer, of course.
      Where the problem is, is manufacturers decrease their costs any way they can. Then unions get involved (not saying they're good or bad, just part of the storyline here) and claim the people working there aren't paid enough, don't get enough benefits, have unsafe working conditions because the manufacturer skimps out on safety revisions or building maintenance, whatever. Okay, so the manufacturer can't afford their costs and have to raise prices now to make up for it. That's all good and well of you don't have free trade with other countries.
      But we do have trade and China doesn't have that problem. So the store compares source prices, Made in USA is double or triple or even more the cost of goods made overseas. Guess which one the store buys!
      So China doesn't have labor cost problems or problems with keeping their employees happy; the employees are just glad to be employed and don't dare ask for a raise or better working conditions (at least, so we in the States are told) (I personally wouldn't know). They also don't have quality control. So their far less expensive goods flood the shelves, putting the better quality but too-expensive "local" products out to pasture. Factories lay off workers, then close.
      Now China owns our debt and has their product literally everywhere. They essentially own our economy. All because we were taught to buy the less expensive goods to use our money more efficiently.
      The other lesson our grandfathers taught is is you get what you pay for. You pay crap prices, you get crap products. In the same vein, you don't get something for nothing.

      @@TechAddictAttic Dude I had a problem with minds but as it turns out what really keep it from working right was that the spring that came with it somehow had turned apart inside. The plastic thing might be cheap but it wasn't really that. When I put a new spring in it that when the water came out like it was supposed to. I have the exact same one that you have. However. I had slightly different one than yours and that one just needed a little cleaning because the spring was in perfect condition. However I need to know how to detach the trigger from the white thing because I had to be force move it so I could get to the plastic thing and take out the white thing to get to the spring. Any tips? When I first did the white screw pop by itself somehow but since then I've had to force it to move near the actual thing the water comes out and that could eventually by the sprayer. I'm just glad that now I don't have to keep buying new ones.

      Since all the parts are (fairly flexible) plastic, I just pried one side off to give enough freeplay in the hinge pin to pull it out gently with a pair of smooth-jaw needle-nose pliers.
      To reinstall, I think I pressed it down using a C- or D-sized alkaline battery as a backer and the slightly opened pliers sideways pressing down on the handle piece on either side of the hinge pin. Was a bit unstable and I vaguely recall almost injuring my hand doing it so whatever you do, be careful.

      @@TechAddictAttic - - - ZEP brand sprayers in fine print say don't use with bleach. Bleach destroys the "valve" in the nozzle (front) of their sprayer. If the valve there doesn't seal, there is no vacuum to suck liquid into the chamber so the piston can push the water out. I don't believe ZEP sells the little valve/housing assemblies and if they did it might be cheaper to just buy a new sprayer for $4.95 at Home Depot than pay for the part with shipping and handling costs/prices. Good video by the way, thanks.

    • @TechAddictAttic
      @TechAddictAttic  Рік тому +1

      @@q7winq7 thanks for comments and the kind words! I don't think any of my sprayers had a particular branding, and whether or not they had any advice on what to spray, I've learned through experience not to use much other than water, vinegar, maybe a weakened alcohol solution (eyeglass and telescope optics cleaners are often a weak mix of isopropyl and distilled water) and water-diluted dish detergent. Anything else likely is risking being too caustic. Honestly, bleach probably is what has killed a good number of my sprayers and you're absolutely correct regarding the return on investment of trying to repair one of these suckers with bought parts rather than replacing them outright. My local grocery sells a higher quality semi professional sprayer for just under $4. The cheapies are themselves just under $3 or the "Dollar Tree" type stores have smaller-bottle versions for a buck and a quarter. They're usually just not worth fighting with at that price... but as the numbers of views on this humble video and its part one attest, plenty of people have reason to!
      Thanks again, and I hope you have a great weekend!

      Sorry, no, I've never tried one of those. However, while I can't say with any level of certainty, they probably are just pressed together and with enough application of the proper force in the correct locations would come apart. Unfortunately, I can't say this won't permanently damage one. Then again, each manufacturer could have a different method of assembly so it might work for some but break others.
      So sorry, wish I could offer guidance, but I've simply never had one of those type apart.

    how to remove the white circle?

    • @TechAddictAttic
      @TechAddictAttic  2 роки тому +1

      Hard to remember, it was five years ago, but most likely a very thin, skinny object. A pocketknife is usually both too thick and too wide. You might do well with a smaller-sized paperclip straightened out, or you might have to get creative.
      If I recall correctly, that white circle has a tiny hole in it too let air through. You might be able to use needle-nose pliers to make a very small hook on the end of a straightened paperclip and pull it out with that otherwise maybe something like a mechanic's feeler gauge might be able to be wedged into the space between the circle and the cap and pry it out.
      I really don't remember though, I'm sorry.
      Good luck, regardless!

    how did you disassemble it?

    • @TechAddictAttic
      @TechAddictAttic  3 роки тому

      Haha, very carefully!
      But seriously I don't remember doing this (obviously I did but a lot has happened since then).
      I think I used the blunt edge of my pocket knife blade as a pry tool. Since all of the parts are plastic, the outer layer easily warped (elastically) to allow disassembly and reassembly. Once I pried one layer off, the rivet moved enough that I could grab it with some taped pliers (to prevent damage). After that it almost just fell apart.
      Assembly is reverse of removal. :)

      How to fix..... the ball? Or the entire assembly? I'm sorry, there's really not much that can go wrong but if it's actually broken, "fixing" it would cost more in materials than simply replacing it, to say nothing of the time and frustration in doing so. I realize many of my viewers are not from the United States, but as I've never left my country, I can't know what it's like "overseas". That said, here, these things are one dollar in cost. That's roughly 100 Japanese Yen, roughly 6 and a half Chinese Yuan Renminbi, about 75 Indian Rupees... I was more showing how the thing worked, in basic concept, rather than a how-to of disassembly and repair. I'm pleased people are finding good info and good use of this video, but unfortunately I don't have the time, space, or energy to put into such a project. I'm sorry.

    I just saw your video I can't waste any more time. Would you be interested in pm'ing me and I will answer questions you have about anything you have tried to repair and can't as well as what throw away garbage that can be repurposed in said repair. I have questions about two or three things. I'm happy to share with everybody but your video was so... The ease which you spoke to the camera the preparedness yet on the spot delivery of what would happen. I was impressed and I would hire you to do a blog on the subject if that were my lot in life! I have never written in a fangirl letter even to Dean on supernatural from me and my mom! I still haven't. This isn't one...but kudos this is in my top 10 of two thousand UA-cam how to videos. I watch at least five on every subject that comes up and then maybe all of them (if necessary) and the jackarsery that goes on out there with people telling people that don't have a basic understanding of anything... something that may cause that person the loss of the thing they were trying to fix or even injury! I know when I watch your other videos that I don't have to worry that it's some sort of trick that wasted my time until the end. You made it so easy to sit through as well. Normally I would prefer to read through a twentynine-page manual than sit and watch a two-minute video. You have talent sir! You should get an agent! You need your own podcast! I haven't read everybody's comments yet. I will as soon as I finish I don't want my comment to be tampered or tainted by the arse holes out there that try to bring everybody down. My idea was clean it with rubbing alcohol then apply that new super glue with the light (if you've got it) or you could take super glue to it then sprinkle it with baking soda and use a nail file after allowing it to harden and make that part just a little tighter without the o-ring problem. Maybe fingernail polish? I haven't gotten mine apart yet. Maybe JB weld but on the cup that the worn piston fits into? You are correct that your one piece (which ever the piston or the cup) has to be harder and the other softer or with your two pieces of shite plastic that are the same, which one can you make harder or has to be softer and not make it worse? I don't know I haven't had time to investigate mine yet... Alternatively, If you end up using anything silicone like an o-ring here,or in a faucet on a car etc you use silicone lubricant. (this is not a commercial even though it's going to sound like one) LOL! The commercials are everywhere and you can't get away from them! I swear this isn't one! I'm a real person not a bot, even though I have to prove I'm not a robot five times per hour I'm on the internet! robots don't know how to use !'s! If they did they wouldn't use this many because it wouldn't appear natural like the Fourier system that has been used to describe the (one day in the future if we're lucky or whatever to make it that long) blinking pattern of the Android that's going to take over the current bot's role in our society or whatever is going to happen but I digress... I have an odd sense of humor I'm not schizophrenic or on anything unnatural! I guess since I've never written one of these things I've just got a lot to get out! Also, I'm not afraid to say that there has been a lack of people to talk to during this Pandemic in general, as well as, people that have the knowledge and temperance that I would even respond to...But I digress again and was trying to recommend using silicone lubricant otherwise known as dielectric grease on all rubber, vinyl, and every kind of silicone stuff except cookware... before using the silicone I also recommend using a certain name brand product (and this versatile liqid I'm happy to tell you about but not so as to provide an advertisement here). I just want to swap knowledge one to one and I'm inquiring as to how to go about that I think we can help each other out and avoidgoing through the hell I normally have to when something new pops up around the house to fix. This is an example and I hope it helps somebody else that reads through my crazy comment and gets to the part that will help them... When you replace a fuse like the alternator fuse on a 2007 Toyota Corolla the replacement is a smooth slide in what you don't know is that two bolts are holding the original OEM 50 w fuse. The bolts are two different sizes and it involves removing the fuse panel from the body of the engine. AutoZone thought it was stuck in there and wanted to spray battery terminal cleaner in my fuse box. I have a hard time in this small town that hasn't gotten to the Future where women are allowed to know things or work on things and not be Molly coddled or padded on the head and I would appreciate it if you wanted to see what it was like to talk to somebody else that knows how to fix things. I'm retired RN and maintain my holistic practice with friends. Just let me know how to get a dialogue going I've never done this I don't know what my options are... And thank you again for the great video!

    Nothing special about this pen it's all cheap Chinese stuff ..usa?

    • @TechAddictAttic
      @TechAddictAttic  Рік тому +1

      True, although I believe you meant to comment on one of my other videos about pens and not the water sprayer.
      Yeah, I made those videos... wow, five years ago, this one... so it's been a minute.. In that time I've come to the conclusion that nothing on the market today beats the vintage stuff from the 60s and older. My favorite pens to write with so far have been Esterbrook J series from 1948-49. I've had some Shaeffers, a couple of Parkers (surprisingly disappointing in their performance), and each of the (only two) Monteverdes I've used have been faulty in one way or another, one of them brand new! But, *EVERY* *SINGLE* *ONE* of the Chinese pens I've bought and used have left ink on my shirt pocket or my hand for no apparent reason. They write great at first, but very quickly dry up or are so wet you'll have a puddle in a minute. Even had one start blobbing right as I wrote with it. You'd have thought it was eyedroppered (I've never eyedroppered a pen and experiences like that make me not want to try).
      No, I'm not interested in cheap Chinese pens any more. That's one of the reasons I haven't done a new pen video in so long. There's nothing worth videoing! I've determined the only ones lately of any quality were made in the United States, maybe Great Britain or Canada, and possibly France ("true" Waterman).
      It's shameful to today's generations. "The Greatest Generation" (as I've heard them called so often in my life) fought in World War II. They are the same people who made the most useful, best and highest quality, ... well, everything. You'd never know it to look at them but even the paperclips they made that have lasted to today are just better. From paperclips to aircraft engines, everything manufactured up to about 1955 or 1960 was just a higher quality; and while the decline was slow at first, eventually corporate greed and "let's save a tenth of a cent on manufacturing the new version by using a less durable component, and sell the new version for fifty dollars more, and because it'll break down sooner, they'll buy a new one sooner" took hold and that's where we are today. And don't get me started on government meddling in the affairs of manufacturers forcing them to install monitors and sensors and checks and all that. Sure, the intent was valiant, but the result is often poorly implemented and for the wrong reasons ("electronic stop-start" for fuel economy? BULL!).
      Everything. **EVERYTHING** is made as cheaply as possible, with as high a markup as the manufacturers and retailers think they can get away with, and the poor plebs on the streets are all too willing to shill out more dollars because they think they have to. Cars are an excellent example. Today's $40,000 base model vehicle with only a few "luxury" items (which aren't really) will run the price up 25% to $50,000. Why are they so expensive in the first place? They're made with LESS metal today, more plastic, but hundreds more tiny little nuances in the powertrain that are nothing more than extra points of failure to make you bring it in "for service" so they can find eight other things you "really should get taken care of while it's here so you won't be left stranded on the roadside" that really aren't even an issue. Cars from the 50s and 60s, even into the 70s... they just don't have that problem. They're simpler. Yes, they burn gas faster, but there are ways to improve that, too, without resorting to the tactics of today's manufacturing... Case in point, I had a volkswagen beetle with the 1600cc motor and regularly got 25 mpg in it. I haven't had ANY car since get that good an economy. My nephew had a 5-speed 86 Chrysler that got 42 mpg according to its computer -- which are known to be a little off, usually, but they're close. He probably was getting 35 mpg easy.
      Then you add eBay and Amazon, OrientalTrading and AliExpress... find anything outside of steel wool or pencils that's still made in the US, and it'll be ten times the price. I have my opinions on that, too, but by the middle of the first actual paragraph, this reply was already longer than 99% of today's generation would bother to read.
      So with that I bid you adieu!

      Interesting that part 2 has nearly 4,000 views while part 1 had only 29 as I type this. I wonder why the difference....

      @@TechAddictAttic Just now saw part 1, but it doesn't say how to take it apart, like I was expecting. The science is great, but that detail is missing.
