Pawna lake is one of the best camping sites which is located 50kms from Pune and 120Kms from Mumbai.
Let me share the awesome travel experience of Pawna lake camping.
WHEN TO GO?
Best time to go is October to March (any time is suitable to go). But I feel one must avoid the rainy season.
HOW TO GO?
We started our journey from Pune in our personal car at 11AM and reached Pawna lake camping spot at around 1PM (check in is after - 4PM and checkout is 10AM).
The charges are Rs.1500 per person which includes the evenings snacks (Oninon pakoda with tea/coffee) once you reach there, then barbeques (not unlimited, you need to pay for extra barbeques), unlimited dinner (veg/non-veg both), night stay in the tent (which is the exciting part of this trip) and the next day morning breakfast.
Please note that the boating is not done in Pawna lake. If you wish to do the boating you have to reach Malavandi lake/dam where the boating is done (Rs.250/person).
They have camps there also, must after staying in the tents beside Pawna lake you might not enjoy staying in the camps near Malavandi lake (Pawna lake to Malavandi lake is about 4.5Kms which will take 10mins to reach there from Pawna).
So before booking just call the vendor over phone and clarify where you want to stay either in Pawna or Malavandi. You can check with this vendor (8668322633) from where we had done the booking.
WHERE TO STAY?
You can search for Pawna lake camping and you can contact any one of the vendors there. They have the tents where you will be spending the night beside the Pawna lake and truly guys this is an awesome experience to stay in a tent right next to the lake which cannot be expressed in words. You need to feel the same.
Here goes the Itinerary
Day 1
We reached Pawna lake camping site at 1PM (though checkin is at 4PM).
You can roam around the camp and enjoy some games at the camp site.
At around 4-4:30PM enjoy some snacks (onion pakoda) with tea/coffee and enjoy the sunset.
At 7:30PM enjoy the barbeques (limited) along with some bonfire and music.
At 9:30, enjoy your dinner (unlimited - veg/non-veg).
Day 2
Wake up and freshen up.
Have your breakfast and tea.
Checkout from campsite at 10AM.
After checking out we went to Malvandi lake where we did the boating and then left for Pune.
