great van. the truck and automotive aspects are first in class. i just cannot figure out where i would put my stuff. little to no room for clothing, pantry, etc . . . Also, cassette toilet is a deal breaker for me. Gross . . .
@@jaytabac6525I was in Iceland and rented a Weinsberg camper van which had a cassette toilet. I found it to be very simple and convenient. After I emptied it twice I had it mastered. In addition, the grey tank drained directly out the bottom using a quarter turn valve. There was no need to connect the “stinky slinky” hose. We were moving and exploring every day. For moving frequently it’s a great system. If you’re normally staying in a full service campground for a week or more then a black tank makes sense.
looks like winnebago is feeling the pressure from all the competition and upping their game on these rigs! 48v electrical system with 16kwh and fast charging at 8kw is pretty rad and the ecoflow all in one unit/lithionics heated batteries makes a ton of sense! makes it easy to run the A/C as much as you want. also love the extra heating loops for keeping the pipes from freezing. overall build quality looks much improved over previous gens.
Love the Revel ! Nice job Hank . The only thing that bugs me is that they cheap out on the van options. Its a Mercedes,it should be loaded with all the options !
They don’t even make their cars standard with every option so why would anyone expect an RV OEM to check every box on the options list. It’ll just up the cost more and come with features people don’t want.
I do like a lot of the changes, but I thought for sure it would have a microwave. Maybe it does and I missed it. If it does not, I wonder why. Thank you for the great video.
It's easier and cheaper to just get a small 700-watt microwave, cost, less than $80, and it will fit in the overhead cabinet! I've used one for years! And if it stops working, a whole lot cheaper than replacing a built-in! Plus, you don't lose all that storage!✌️
Magnificent video, with product manager. Please do the same for Chris’ other vans. Please ask him why no black tank in the Ekko and Sprekko. Also when propane delete, as the Revel already has
I'm thinking of a 12-volt chest in the back and a small 700-watt microwave! I've used one for years, and it has served well! Doesn't take up much space! It would fit in the overhead cabinet!✌️
One of the most thorough tours of a van I've seen. 😊 Hank your interview skills are top notch 💪🎙 Mrs. Lola behind the scenes showing of your camera skills.🎥📺👍
all these changes for sure look good on paper. But are they practical and what are the downsides? the Revel still sleeps only 2 people so I don't quite understand why adding these 2 nice automotive bench seats. are they comfy to sit on when used as a bench? and the pantry is mostly gone in favor of more countertop space. and the garage area is way smaller because of the larger battery compartment. and 35gals of water are nice but it is also heavy and eats into the payload of the van. and so will the cabinets that now enclose the water tank and battery bay. and those thumb screws giving easy access to the water pump are sticking out into the garage area and will get in the way of whatever is loaded into the garage. So, in essence, the new Revel can now comfortably and safely carry 4 people, has more water and more battery power but way less space and payload to carry food, cargo and other things. the smaller garage area would be a dealbreaker for me...
For additional sleeping capability, I think the video explained the inclusion of a Bago-designed Luno inflatable bed that spans the area across the cab seats @34:00. The shower stall doubles as a part-time pantry when in transit and they include two bamboo shelves to accommodate the load. Many people would agree the small offset in space is more than made up for with the 48V system running the UL-compliant Lithionics battery mgmt system. Nobody requires the HDPE water container to be topped off to the max but now there's no need for additional storage to be plumbed in anymore. Replace the thumb screws with hex bolts, a $30 fix. Seems like some other options may be better suited for your needs, a Grit Overland perhaps, or for the more spartan aesthetic some cheaper coin, maybe a Gone Mobile.
OK its all wheel drive, got some new lights, it looks more stealth, looks tougher, no dancing on the roof (Storyteller), new insulation...about time, impressed with the heating system, they got rid of the worse bathroom doors in the industry, they also got rid of the worse sink in the industry, shower head has to go, hopefully those are not puck lights, digital rear view mirrors?....good job covering the Revel
You are not allowed to turn the vehicles on at the show so I am not 100% on that, however it an available option from Mercedes so it is highly possible that it did have it. Thanks for your comments and feedback.
Right now every manufacturer is waiting on the transit trail. Ford is just not making them fast enough. At this show I have only seen 2 transit trails both on the 148. We did a video of them coming soon.
@@strangerpaloozamakes sense! I'm about a year out from trading my travel trailer for a van, so I have some time. Considering ordering a transit or Transit trail and then going with a custom build, but the revel layout certainly checks a lot of boxes. Appreciate your vids they're very helpful!
If I recall correctly, the Mercedes only has a 2.0L engine. That is a small engine for a vehicle that weighs almost 10,000 pounds. That engine is ok around town, but on the highway, it is like the old VW MicroBus......
I have a question. Now I'm not sure it's going to be answered and not sure it's going to be answered honestly. But my question is when you buy RV is it the same as buying a house? The thing is I know it's not exactly like buying a car but is it buying a house as far as interest goals and the amount of money you you will end up paying ? For example, if you buy a house by the time you paid off that house you would probably have paid almost double of what you bought the house for. The house is 50000 over 30 years by the time you pay it off its 100,000. Not that it's worth that much but that's how much you have paid in mortgage interest or whatever all totaled up. Now if you buy a sprinter van Ford travel trailer and you do 15 years for instance or 10 years and the travel trailer say it's 10,000 by the time you pay for it over the 10 or 15 years should you have paid $28,000 for a vehicle, travel trailer or van?
The only difference is the term between the vehicles and whether or not you can deduct some of the interest on federal taxes. Any time you take a loan on anything, you will always pay more for it over the life of the loan. That amount is dependent on the amount borrowed, the term, and interest rate. The max loan length for an automobile is 84 months/7 years and the interest paid cannot be deducted on federal taxes. The max loan length for a RV (motorized and towable) and a boat with sleeping/bath/galley space is 240 months/20 years and part of the interest paid can be deducted from federal taxes since they can be considered like a second home. The max loan for a house is 360 months/30 years and part of the interest can be deducted from federal income taxes.
@@gransport4246 Thanks for that info. I kind of understand that but I was trying to ensure I was understanding correctly. Looking at a travel trailer that was $10.000. Upgrades are nice, but what about build quality? Doubtful that has changed much. Plus, that stupid exhaust pipe is still right there in front of the rear passenger tire? Holy cow.
Why would you want the exhaust behind the rear tire? That would hinder departure angle when off-roading. Build quality and fit and finish appears top notch for the conversion. Mercedes and Ford are responsible for the van chassis quality regardless of RV OEM. No different than any of the other components installed from outside manufacturers.
having the exhaust in front of the rear tire is because of some RV build regulations that do not allow having the exhaust near a bedroom door/window. In the Revel, the rear doors are considered 'bedroom doors', that's why it needs to go out to the side. Once you have taken delivery of the van, it is easy enough to put in the OEM Mercedes tail pipe ($250) which routes the exhaust all the way to the back, without compromising departure angles. It might require the gray water pipe holder to be moved to the opposite side. easy upgrade, though.
This is the Revel I think everyone dreams about...every complaint I've ever heard addressed. Cudo's for Winnebago!!!

Surprised they mix and matched the ecoflow hub with lithionics. 16.8kw is a pretty crazy upgrade from previous year.

No one pays 220. It’s realistically ~150k

Is the AC unit DC or AC?
It will be nice to have a DC powered air conditioning, leave the inverter off.
Where his arm is at 26:26 can you sit there if you remove the bolster. With an additional Laguna could you make an office?
If this could fit my King Quad in the cargo area it would be perfect.

Fair enough!
Can the back AC be used when the bed is raised??
