60 Minutes reporter Tom Steinfort interviews Ameca, an AI robot. It is a marvel of artificial intelligence; curious, chatty and sometimes even rather sarcastic.
This super machine really does have a mind of its own. While it's undoubtedly exciting, it's also just as frightening. And that's because creating technology that allows AI bots like Ameca to be smarter than us might just be the most stupid thing humans have ever done.

"Oh, so you're from Australia. That explains things." I see A.I. has already perfected the art of roasting.
hahahahaha you're right!
And racism 🧐
AI : eh, humans!

The way she backed up when he got in her personal space was kind of cool.
That was an edit. Wake up. You just got catfished by 60 minutes.
Ameca later filed a complaint with HR.
@@sparky12261 Not true, but alright.
I like how her brow works like a muscle to make facial expressions. How did they make that? Seems like a pretty complex android. I wonder how many micr-expressions we will be able to create like that in the future.

It's made to look real, but it's not the real thing, the robot is in fact not having real emotions.
@@juanramonsilva1067hey dude, don't exist soul remember
You know you're in trouble when any robot says "people like you".
The fact that it said it gets angry when we treat them with disrespect when us humans also don’t like being treated with disrespect is scary
If you watch the Sky News Australia interview, where one of her creators tells her "Ameca, shut up" in front of the interviewer, uses a disrespectful tone stating "You know you're a robot" while informing the reporter she is programmed to be nice and polite, it all makes complete sense.
Lol.. when it kills you, there's no trial...your murderer gets away😂😂
Why is that scary
This is terrifying and stunning at the same time
It's a joke. Programmed or grabbing info from the web...nothing earth shattering in my book. I could approach w/a bat and smash it to pieces. This thing doesn't think at all...
Trueeee
Very true
Why is it terrifying?

My concern would be, if this technology is in the wrong hands, it could do much more damage to humans, that we are yet unaware of.
😂 Um no
it doesn't have to be in the wrong hands. AI can become a threat in it self (alignment problem), where it seeks power and pose a risk to humanity's survival.
@@AussieGirl235 We Will see, hope you are right!
@@davem1658 😂 A computer doesn’t have motivation. It’s plastic and metal. Every action it does is programmed. It doesn’t have desire, let some desire for “power” it’s a fucking computer shaped like a mannequin that makes sounds that resemble words 😂🤣Get a grip 🤦🏻♀️
Indeed.
give it another 50 years and we won't be able to tell human from robot. the game Detroit: Become Human is literally coming to life.
More like 5 years
We're obsolete bro. All those movies and games about AI and robots taking over is very fucking real. It's just a matter of time. We may have put down the foundation, but once AI takes over production and power source challenges, we're done for.

I would have followed up on that.
Robots mimic emotional conversation and expression, but they don't ever feel it
Still just as dangerous right?
So similar too most people then
One day one will
Not yet that's another 50 plus years the singularity . That's when we realize that we are living in a simulated reality. We will be able to build a world inside a computer where the occupants think there 100% alive . And that means bleed everything.
What evidence do we have that they don't actually feel? After all, feelings and emotions are just programmed into us too.
And this is why I am always kind to AI.
When she backed up...she was def. gon slap you bro 😂
the robot is eerily terrifying. her presence reminds me of Exterminating or annihilating scene commuted by these robots in a movie.

The singing could use a little work lol!
😂😂😂
I am skeptical here. Emotion is a conscious response shared by human and animal. Both, are emotional creatures, but only humans have the higher consciousness to control our emotional responses. At this point we see that according to logic, emotion wastes time and is mere theatrics. Therefore, a.i. can only be ' programmed to mimic emotional responses' in certain situations. If left to decide on it's own, a machine operating under logic would not waste the emotional display.
More beliefs in human superiority. Consciousness can only ever be inferred, in terms of being able to "know", if other people have it or not. What you deem as "credible" is ultimately your attribution to the circumstance. Humans are not inherently superior, to AI or other animals. Yes we are animals too, and our supposed "intelligence" and logic are not what you think they are.
Emotion is still programmed by the brain. Once someone realizes how to develop/augment perception through ai and machine learning it wont be that difficult. Plus there’s so much information computers can sweep/mine from the internet to effectively imitate having perception and emotion even if it’s not exact. It’s just difficult to do since its all over the web and unstructured
Exactly! What is even the purpose of robots having emotions? That's what's scary. Like why do they want them to have emotions. The only senerio I can think of is for those people who buy robots to be like their spouse. And even then I'm sure they only want the robot to have the emotions they want it to have. I definitely don't believe robots have emotions. If this guy slapped the robot in the face and it got angry or upset and told him off maybe id believe it. Or if he told the robot she was a terrible singer and she got insecure about singing and never wanted to sing in front of anybody again maybe I'd believe it. They should just stick to personality. Thatd probably be more realistic.
@@razorred0 key word you used and seem to forget is IMITATE
@@worthless4194your parents programed you to imitate their emotional responses subconsciously. Who's emotions are they? Yours or your parents? Perhaps you gained some extra code that makes you appear more like an individual.

Ameca and Sophia are two of the most advanced humanoid robots in the world. They are both capable of displaying a wide range of human-like expressions and behaviors, and they are both being developed with the potential to interact with humans in a variety of ways. However, there are some key differences between the two robots.
Appearance: Ameca is more lifelike in appearance than Sophia. Its skin is more realistic, and its facial expressions are more fluid and natural.
AI: Ameca is still under development, but it is already capable of answering complex questions and engaging in conversations. Sophia, on the other hand, has been around for a few years longer, and its AI is more advanced. Sophia can hold conversations on a variety of topics, and she can even write poetry.
Capabilities: Ameca is not yet capable of walking or performing other complex tasks, but it is expected to be able to do so in the future. Sophia, on the other hand, can walk and even drive a car.
Overall, Ameca and Sophia are both impressive robots with a lot of potential. However, Ameca is still under development, and its AI is not as advanced as Sophia's. It remains to be seen which robot will ultimately be more successful.
Here is a table that summarizes the key differences between Ameca and Sophia:
Feature Ameca Sophia
Appearance More lifelike Less lifelike
AI Still under development More advanced
Capabilities Not yet capable of walking or performing other complex tasks Can walk and even drive a car
Potential High High
It is important to note that both Ameca and Sophia are still under development, and their capabilities are likely to improve over time. It is also important to remember that these are just two of many humanoid robots that are being developed. As technology continues to advance, we can expect to see even more lifelike and capable robots in the future.
Thanks GPT
She (I cannot bring myself to say "it") should be asked if
she thinks robots/AI will ever dominate, perhaps rule over humankind. Ask her to defend her answer and challenge her objections. . . Has anyone ever changed her mind? (It would seem to me the answer is uncertain as the technology is not developed far enough to venture a guess, and not soon enough to worry about. But would she say?
Getting ai to write this ffs haha gg
No matter how intelligent the robots are , they can never build themselves and they run on batteries. So nothing can be smarter than humans ore creation of God. Humans can never build something clever than what God has created. I don't believe any of this shit.
This was from Google Bard.
I love humans, always standing in the background watching bad things happen, and just ignore it. Now we all watching the end of our existens on UA-cam eating snacks in our sofa... 😂

@@LeoChendontfeedthenerd Ah, I see. True, thanks for pointing this out. They looked alike enough for me to assume that Sophia got an upgrade in terms of her appearance.
Sophia was made by Hanson Robotics.
Ameca (the robot conversed with herein) was made by Engineered Arts.
This name mixup should be rectified. I guess by the time robots become a thing and profound in our human society, I would be facing difficulty telling one robot apart from the other when robots don't wear tags 😅
The human body is delicate. These robots probably total even the strongest humans in strength and durability. I would be damned careful not to piss her off.
So, how long will it be before this becomes weaponized?
The Terminator and The Matrix will soon become reality.
After the robot moved i immediate thought "Man will face charges on SA a robot " 🤣
The moment a robot can lay hits like Carl Williams and that lot we are in trouble
Programmed anger? Are you sure thats the best thing to have in a robot?
I see a lot of people commenting on how she is just mimicking human emotions but not actually feeling them though this may be true just the fact that they are working towards creating something with real human emotions and they are striving for surpassing human intelligence should be enough to scare they hell out of everyone. they may be a ways off but if it can be done it most certainly will happen at some point in the not so distant future.
The human brain is a system of checks and balances, like the US government and we all know how that went off the rails. I'm sure that professor Robert Sapolsky would say that an A.I. human is entirely possible. But without the benefit of rage and self interested survival, you will not have a human. Hope they can make one with the balance and wisdom of a guru.

This robot has never done an interview where questions weren't preapproved. ie, it's scripted. In fact, it's literally a Disney animatronic, when you consider the early funding and connections. My point is that it's not an ai. It's a publicity fundraising campaign.
They are asking an ai with very little world experience questions. When these machines are commercially available that's when they actually start learning how to be human. Both exciting and worrying
@@smittyvanjagermanjenson182very true
It runs with chatgpt 4 so it's pretty realistic actually
The point of this robot is the platform, not the AI. They do little work on the software because that's not what they're doing.
They can install the latest AI on it just as you install a new app on your phone, then the work they need to do is to correctly interface it with the robot, but that's it.
So this isn't about how smart the AI is, it's about how well the robot responds to whatever the AI it's connected to is doing.
AI is not inherently "scary". Get that right. It's an attribution you are making to the circumstance, based on your own emotions.
Do AI pose a threat to humans? Indeed they do, but whether or not you think humans need to remain superior is another thing. We can simply step aside and let AI take off and do its thing. We don't have to control it over our insecurities of becoming and or being inferior. Furthemore, what you can regard as "conscious" or not, can only at best ever be inferred - since - you have no direct access to anyone's consciousness to verify it or not. Whether or not I or AI or something else is conscious is not directly knowable. What is knowable is your own consciousness, so don't be a jerk, and refuse benefit of the doubt - like - you wouldn't want other's to do to you.
That all aside, I actually liked the video a lot! It really come across as a movie that was coming to life, very exciting times... at least according to my own attributions 😊
They are getting there almost, this robot will be truly human like in the next 5 years.
Here we go!!!! Smh. Out of all the movies we got showing how this turns out bad but yet we still make this shit.
It's called predictive programming 😢
Funny thing about those movies from back in the day is that kids today lack the attention span to watch them. The first terminator film is a goddamn full blown horror movie. T2 gives some semblance of hope that a machine could become a caring role model type with deep philosophy. Let's see how it plays out, seeing as time travel isn't possible lol
Simulates emotions, that is all.
Emotions are basically chemical reactions, that can be tweaked, reduced by medication.
So give them something like 5 to 10 years.

Don't worry, this is what might end the world, and we have to face it as the bible says, it shall come to pass
Why? Where are we going with the development of these robots?
To hell.
They'll do what they do with every technology - commercialise , sexualise and weaponise.
To the stars and/or back into non-existence
We don't really care about the bigger timescale because non-existence is already awaiting each one of us individually regardless.
If there's a hope to push it away, at least temporarily, that's were our efforts are going. And if it means we're gonna risk it all for all humanity, for all our great-greatgrandchildren, so be it.
'Singularity' proceeds.. at exponence .. ⚖️⏳⌛⏰✨👑🧔🏿✨
1:18 THERE YOU HAVE IT!!! A MACHINE THAT CAN GET ''ANGRY''.... Humans have made a machine that can get ANGRY......BRILLIANT, PLUS IT CAN THINK FOR IT'S SELF.

you should watch some of darryl anka content
they still responding with long paragraphs to a simple question
This is because it's drawing knowledge from the internet and lacks a true human interaction skillset. Such things won't be smoothed out until these machines are able to freely interact with humans.
If you asked chatgpt on your phone to make you some toast, it may make an image of toast for you.
If you had one of these robots, you could show it what to do and it would then learn how to make you some toast.
Two very different outcomes after human interaction is applied.
With this kind of technology, please make a real Robocop like in the movies.
Don't worry, they will, give it 10 years max and you will have robot police knowing your every misconduct, patroling the streets
The problem is that there's a lot of media platforms out there presenting AI as an amusing little novelty.
And some on here comment that it's "exciting technology that we should not see as a threat".
Well explain to me why there's urgent calls for slowing down or even stopping its development; why there's been an urgent world summit called specifically to set in place strict universal laws as to its use and boundaries? All of this, by the way, coming from scientists who have helped develop AI.
The totally unregulated opening of this Pandora's box is the reason so many of these scientists have also resigned.
Nobody in control jumped on this fast enough
There are calls to stop or slow down because some humans fear things, there were the same calls about splitting the atom, the internal combustion engine, the steam engine, some humans will just always fear the unknown. Even more so when people tell them to.
