Man, I i appreciate such a great review. Ive watched a lot of reviews on different reolink cameras and other brands and I got more from your video than i have all the rest. Keep up the good work!
Very good explanation from somebody who knows his stuff. After watching this video I definitely go for the Reolink Duo 3 POE camera. It is affordable but still with a high end performance.
Thank you for your review! Sounds like something I am going to be looking into. What is your opinion on Deep Sentinel security system? I was looking into that system to.
You’re welcome & thanks for watching! We tried to be a dealer for Deep Sentinel & it was a horrible experience. The product was pure crap & their customer service was terrible. I’d stay far away from anything they offer.
I think it touches on a good subject - alerts. When we get so many you are right in saying we don’t always look at them. This critical alert sounds like a good added feature. Good review!
Do you think Reolink will add floodlights to the duo3? Or do you think the in-camera spotlights provide enough lighting for a 100ft x 75ft front yard and driveway?
They are really good spotlights, but it’s hard to say at those exact dimensions. You’d need a camera like my go to, which is the Alibi Illuminite. Those cameras are rated for color night vision at 98ft.
Less concerned about camera recording with spotlights. Hoping that with the floodlights it offer far better lighting for eyesight to load vehicles in driveway, trashnight etc.
Great video! Thanks so much. I plan to purchase the Reolink 12MP 16 channel Ultra HD system in the next few days. After seeing this I will definitely be adding at least one of the DUO 3 cameras, and possibly two.
I was going to purchase the duo 3 but then I seen a duo 3V (dome version) do you know if it's exactly like the duo 3 just in a dome version instead of the rectangle shape?
@GeorgeLangabeer I'm making a purchase today, do you know enough about it to say it's the same other than shape? I'm trying to get on the black Friday deals and rather have the look and concealment of the duo 3V (dome) over the duo 3. But if it's not as good I'll stick with the duo 3.
Can you recommend an NVR recorder? To be compatible with this reolink camera 16MP 8K. I would like to know if other Wi-Fi cameras can be connected to the same recorder. Greeting
The reduced vertical field of view was a deal breaker to me. I returned it and kept the Duo 2. Hopefully they will fix the vertical field of view in the future.
G'day, I run 15 Reolink cameras. 1 x 8MP (823 PTZ) the rest are all 5MP. 1 is the Duo 2, and 2 have the optical zoom. I'm on a corner and run LED floodlights all night facing the street, This alows me to set th street facing cameras to coulor all the time. The Police love my CCTV footage and say it is amongst the best they get. (about 120 hours in February including a merder.) I don't bother with the notifications and have recording set to 24/7. My NVR has 4TB of storage and it saves for nearly 4 days.
15 cameras, 4TB gives you 4 days 96 hours??? What NVR do you have because I’m about to purchase the RLN8 410 with a preorder duo 3.. I’m wondering if you upgraded the internal drive or added another 2 external??
@@a.ced.2052 G'day. My IT friend added a 1TB internal drive to my RLC16. I think the RLC16 usually has a 3TB drive and the RLC8 only has a 2TB unit. These both can be replaced with larger capacity ones. The RLC16 has space for a second drive inside the housing. The 5MP cameras seem to use more data tor the same time compared to my 8MP unit. I suspect it is due to frame rate. My sister now has a Duo2 and 2x 811 cameras. I'm not sure about record settings but she gets 8 or 9 days on an 2TB drive. Hope this helps.
When it comes from switching into color mode for night recordings, does the app let you set the area(s) where you care about? For instance, if someone is walking on your own lawn then it'd be very helpful to turn on the floodlight. It both increases the quality of the video recorded, and it'd be quite startling for any person who is on your lawn with nefarious intentions. But it'd also be annoying if the floodlight went on every time a car drives by, especially if you're on a busy street or have many buildings in that 180º view. It'd be great if the camera could record events from a wider area, but only turn on the floodlight for events in a much smaller area.
I’ve been very impressed with it so far, great for a corner where you’ve only got one Ethernet run and I’d say it’s better than a camera that tracks. The light is so bright and should be a good deterrent
@@GeorgeLangabeer where we put it we can see the entire front yard, into and down the street. It might be overkill since we have two other cameras but redundancy is never a bad thing
Your review timing is perfect as we are looking for security system/ NVR POE camera + doorbell camera.. i was considering taking the Lorex for our wired outlets however this is moving us towards Riolink. Thank you
I have a NVR Reolink and I’ve been told it will not work on this camera, it’s about a 3 year old NVR and someone said it needs some kind of update. When I click on updating it says no update available. I’m lost
Hi George, can you recommend a "Silverhammer-quality" installer up here in the Seattle/Tacoma area? I honestly cannot find anyone with your level of trust and knowledge. I'm looking for a wired system for my home/office. I should also say that I'm one of those "elderly types" you mentioned. I'm not high tech at all ..... I just want the darn things to work!! Thanks .... and thanks for this video!
If you’re looking for a good wired system, Alibi Security is the brand I recommend. My contact info is in the description if you’re interested. I can give you some installation advice as well.
Hey brother. New subscriber here. Never had any camera at my home. Thinking of purchasing these. Stupid question. If i have an android and my other family members have iphones can we all use the app? I myself colon cancer survivor. Stay strong and thank you in advance for your response. Im not tech savvy. Lol , but very confident i can install these no problem
I think I’m going the the realink cameras and door bell for my home. What is your recommendation for window and door sensors? Preferably ones that use a hub if it exists
Where does hikvision stands? Burglar and professional! 1-10? I have hikvision colorvu 5MP and zoom is awful day and night! so compare with reolink where will i stand? Thanks, great videos.
Hikvision is not NDAA compliant and banned by the U.S. Government, so I’m never going to recommend Hikvision. Reolink is NDAA compliant, but not quite professional grade. My favorite is Alibi Security, because they make professional grade equipment.
It's working pretty well with synology here. You can use the ai in camera to trigger recording and then use synology to analyze, alert, zoom, and archive.
Higher quality across the board….higher quality build, better/more reliable night vision, better chipsets, better features like upgraded wide dynamic range/3d noise reduction…like I said, just higher quality across the board. This is my go to system (Alibi Security): ua-cam.com/video/uKrROE9WdmM/v-deo.html
I've had a Duo 3 for almost 1 week. I'm impressed with it, but do have a couple of issues. Image mismatch & lack of mouse control with NVR. Yours is the 1st review i have seen that shows the image mismatch. Depending on what is being viewed, it can be very obvious & i think spoils the image. There is a tree at centre of my view. And the mismatch is very obvious.
The slight mismatch is going to happen on any dual lens camera, it’s just the nature of the beast. but I could definitely see why it would bother you if you have a tree in the center. For me personally, I’ve really only noticed it when there happens to a person right on the line. I will say Reolink has done the dual lens better than others I’ve tried. What specifically are you trying to accomplish with your mouse? I don’t have any issues with mine.
I’m really not sure where you’re seeing these “tons of bad reviews”, but I’ve been installing cameras for over 20 years & this is a damn good one. I’ve also been using Reolink off & on for as long as I can remember & I can assure you there are no “fatal flaws”.

Looking wonderful. Cheers

Great video thank you. Do you have any experience or have you tested Reolinks color X series? Either the CX410 or the CX 810? Would love your opinion.
Love my CX 410. Color night vision. Would be my favorite were it not for limited field of vision.
Nice review. So the camera doesn’t have adjustable detection zones? So you can’t adjust the zones to only detect a specified area?
It has adjustable detection zones.
The reduced vertical field of view was a deal breaker to me. I returned it and kept the Duo 2. Hopefully they will fix the vertical field of view in the future.
I’m not a big fan of the vertical FOV either.
Thanks, currently using Wyze but will switch to these soon.
This will be a nice upgrade from Wyze.
I hope the new NVRs are solid state HD. My old one is still clicking away on a spinner.

Everything you mentioned , it can do, you can set it to only turn on lights when person is detected, you can disable cars and animals
