Nah, it is objectively mid, if not below. Tonally, he is singing the right notes, playing the right chords. The performance is lacking. The beauty of this song is its simplicity, almost flat vocals and its incredible lyrics. Poor Ed misses that point here. It doesn’t need to be sung and “hmmmed” to

David Broughall honestly idk if he was kinda sad bc Ed changed the song to much (bc of the speed )or maybe he is just shocked crueless like “woah this beautiful voice of the young generation is singing my song “. Idk , all I know is that in the end he seems legitimately happy with it, or at least supportive that Ed well.. tried , poor kid, he was so nervous 😂 in anyway Paul has the right to dislike it since even some fans of Ed disliked this version( bc of the changes of vibe and speed), so imagine how him being the creator how sensitive he must be about it, what matters is that liking or not he respects it, and well like I said in the end he seen not only respect it but support it or maybe even been happy
