- With its 10-year warranty and quality craftsmanship, you can be confident in your Fastway® e2® hitch. The e2 round bar hitch style offers built-in sway control and weight distribution. To ensure you receive the best performance and longevity from your e2, it is important to properly lubricate your hitch.
Lubrication extends the life of the hitch, preventing rust, binding, and wear on the sockets. It also protects the finish on the hitch ball and quiets the noise coming from the hitch ball rotating inside the coupler.
Proper Lubrication for the Round Bar
Remove the arm until it easily releases from the hitch head
Clean the spring arms and head sockets with a dry, soft cloth
Using high-performance bearing grease, lubricate the round, notched ends of the spring arms and spread the lubricant evenly across the entire surface of the notched ends
Lubricate the hitch head sockets and spread the lubricant evenly inside the sockets
Lubricate the rim of the hitch ball where the coupler sits
Insert the spring arms into the hitch by pushing the notched end into the socket until it clicks

You should include information on what NOT to lubricate. I've occasionally run into people on forums giving incorrect advice to lubricate the areas where the bars rub against the L-brackets attached to the trailer. (Which seems like an intuitive thing to do for those trying to reduce noises.)
Thank you for this idea! It's very important to know where to lubricate and where not too.
Very True. I was making this mistake before. Thats why I found this video looking for confirmations (and how to actually reduce squeeks).
It would be helpful if you mentioned which grease you used and how much. Also do you recommend wiping it off
each time and reapplying it? I use sandwich bags and rubber bands to keep things from getting messy.
Hi Dan! In this video we use Equal-i-zer Hitches high performance lubricant. I've linked it below! You can just reapply unless the lube is hardened or crusty.

Thank you for letting us know the product name.
Thanks! Quick, informative video. One question: I’m leaving my trailer hitches for three or four days while I travel. Is it ok to wait that long to lubricate? Thank you.
Yes you should be just fine! Happy travels!
do you lubricate the end of the notched round bar that most likely comes in contact with the top of the socket ( head)?
Lubricate the hitch head as well as the bottom and top of the sockets. (Do not lubricate the inside of the sockets)
