Presentation of adapted sports for war veterans in Cherkasy, Ukraine

We presented adapted sports for injured war veterans. We present adapted sports such as: wheelchair basketball, sitting volleyball, table tennis, archery, there are sports with elements of athletics, powerlifting and rowing on simulators.
It is war veterans who demonstrate the species. They show by their example that life does not end. There is an opportunity to do sports, there is an opportunity to further continue your full life.
We started about two years ago, we started our project called "Heroes" even before the full-scale invasion. Here we held the Invincible Games, the all-ukrainian qualifying stages for international competitions among the military. Now, wherever we have the opportunity, the guys train there, but in order to start complex training, we need a base, this is a gym.
We found a place in which we can create this gym. This will be a personal base of veterans. We do many things at the expense of our city sports club. Now they have to finance the equipment for the gym. But this is after the tender. And here in the same building, somewhere on 100 square meters, we will have a gym.
I think it will happen in the near future. Well, then we will continue to communicate, involve, perhaps, some partners, perhaps the state. I don't know how it will be. The project of major renovation of the swimming pool has started. It is fully inclusive there. But the construction was stopped because of the war.
And that's where we start: it's a gym and a pool. For example, there are guys who now can't just put on a prosthesis because they've put on weight. It is necessary to constantly engage in physical education, and if possible, sports.
We have guys coming to us who are currently recovering, there are guys who have recently had an amputation or a stroke.
They communicate here, somewhere they can take a racket and play, somewhere they can work out on a simulator, play a team game. This is enough for them, the most important thing for them is communication.
This project is not only for the development of sports. This is a project for all war veterans. In the future, if we create a base that we want to expand, then we, if we plan to attract half of the entire base there, specifically for the veteran movement.
Sports, communication, more of course it is physical education and sports. Now in Ukraine they started playing football on crutches. We now have friends in Lviv, a team of our ukrainian soldiers has already gone to Poland. There is even a prize place there. It will probably be one of the future major sports. We want to involve everyone, including veterans, their families, and children. We can take a total of up to a thousand people for training.
If people will see, the authorities will see, it will be possible to expand the base. I think that is not the question. We do a lot of projects at the expense of partners.
So we bought a minibus for the boys so that they would have the opportunity, if they are in wheelchairs, to come to training and then use this bus to go to competitions. I think that at the expense of partners we will now buy basketball carts, because they are very expensive. One cart costs 5 thousand dollars. Now there are six, but this was given to us. It's not ours. Now we use it, but we will buy it. We are currently looking for partners in America as well. Maybe the Ministry will help, maybe the authorities.
