- We get up close and personal with the new 2024 Ford Mustang Dark Horse. Ford unveiled the S650 Mustang which features a 4th gen 5.0 Coyote engine now making 500hp in the Dark Hose trim. What Ford didn't tell you is that there is a lot of S550 Mustang here. Perhaps more than you think. Let's take a look.

Goodness, This Darkhorse is already a winner in my Book.....I dare say it even looks better than the current GT500....of course that's my opinion
But a stock gt350 can gap it.

As a big fan of the GT500 I have to agree it indeed looks way better than the GT500. I hope they make the new GT500 based off of the new look. I would absolutely love that.

They didn't ruin it. Very crisp, and muscular looking. 500+ hp will make ppl happy.
This will probably cost about $75k. Than the dealer markups will kick in. Result is big bucks for a fancy Mustang
Yes, the beauty of this car is that there are no tricks- no EV, no hybrid, no turbo, no SC. Just air and cranks and pistons. All that and a reliable engine? This is a car company that has confidence in themselves and has confidence in their customers. Well done, Ford.
Yup. A manual, an auto and 2 petrol engines. Ford understands their audience. They will have loads of EVs for those that want them.

How do you know what they have done to the car until you have tried out I don't think everything is a carryover we have wait until we can drive them

Those rear fenders remind me of 5th gen Camaro.
The Camaro and mustang have always had haunches. The mustang came first. The Camaro looks like a mustang, not the other way around lol.
I like it but don't love it. I'll have to see it in person. Definitely glad they still make a V8 w/ a manual, but the body design reminds me of GM. The hood scoop is almost identical to the camaro hood scoop.

I Do not care how much horsepower an electric car makes, there's nothing like A v8. Dodge sales will sink nobody's going to be paying for expensive electric cars And plus with Dodge reliability history that's gonna be really sketchy with a electric car from them!! Interesting. I always wondered what would happen if you took a current gen mustang and put the rear 1/3 of a 6th gen Camaro on it and now we know. Not saying I don't like it but they literally took the rear quarters and the look of the rear bumper from the SS and slapped it on a S650.
My thoughts too. Interesting choice for sure. Overall I think the design really works.

@@tri3pleagent It would seem that you are one of the very few that believe that this doesn't look like a Camaro. Check the comments on every outlet that has carried the story. Even the Mustang forums say it looks like a Camaro. I'm not complaining as I own a 6th Gen Camaro so it's fine with me. I personally think this is a huge improvement over the catfish / fusion S550 and the first time I've considered a Mustang since the Foxbody.
The Getreg MT82 carryover is a huge fail.

Lincoln should make their version of this and make it more luxurious with a sunroof to bring back the Mark Series! It’ll be a great competitor to other Luxury Brands..like the Lexus LC!
they should have carbon whale tail wing and adjustiable coilovers should needs spacers to bring tires out more in rear and front.
Ford played it safe but why mess with success? I think the "Dark Horse" is such a cool name for another Mustang special edition too.

They all eat the same snacks as we pretend they're different. Yes, it looks "too much" like Camaro. But for Dodge to end the Challenger is the biggest blunder (If they actually go through with it). Apparently Camaro is ending after 2023. Then there's the space-aged "Wraith clone" * Movie from the 80s about an avenging car; check it out. Mustang started the machine 60 fkn years, so technically the others have Followed suite. *But I love Challenger because it Doesn't look like Ford, or GM.

That's the Fox body speedo which this recreates. The "normal" speedo will show higher. It can definitely do well over 140.
I'm not even remotely interested in this thing other Han the Dark Horse color. I've had seven of these things and I do like them but it's just a car.

The Darkhorse does look cool but I dont see why you'd choose one over the new c8 vette at the same starting price. Right now you can get away with it because you can charge whatever you want for any car but when the market calms down idk if the darkhorse or even the gt is gonna sell crazy well at higher prices.
The Vette is super hard to get now below 100k unfortunately. The market is already starting to calm down but it will take a little while. At ~60k entry the c8 is amazing value, but with a few options you’re well into the 70s.
Im surprised they didn't completely ditch the MT-82 and not put the tremec in all GT'S and above.
That would be my wish, but most sales are gonna be the auto anyway

I like the dark horse version when painted black but in lighter colors like white the front looks weird beneath the headlights. Why matt finish on dark horse beneath headlights? Otherwise the dark horse is cool.
I agree. I don't like the way it looks in white, which is all they showed so far. I'll likely get mine in Blue Ember, but I'm not sure yet.
Ford isn't putting out HP numbers and this guy's acting like he knows it's 500..... They specifically said the most powerful NA mustang ever....that means more than the gt350 so more like 526+ try again bud, don't say if you don't know.
They said 500 multiple times at the reveal last night. It’s also on the Ford website…

For my European taste the front is too square looking for a sports car. But Americans never cared about aero dynamics and it will probably grow on me

Every body panel is new other than the roof. Looks quite a bit different than the s550 overall. It's not like the 6th gen Camaro, which looked virtually identical to the 5th gen. Actual effort was put into designing this.
It looks like a really good looking refresh to me but I still really dig it! Now time for the power numbers Ford!
At the launch and on their press website they say 500hp is the target. No torque figures. Weight is identical to the Mach 1 at 3868.
@@revmatchtv is that Dark Horse a package or it’s own model? I’m curious to see if Ford bumps up the power on the ecoboost…say at least Focus RS numbers or more! I love the raw power and sound of a good ole V8 engine but that ecoboost is a great combination of power and MPG in the Mustang!
@@txvet7738 Dark Horse is a separate model just like the current Mach 1. Expect to see a small bump in the Ecobost. Probably 330 will be the base hp.

front looks like Audi to me.
Except the Foxbody, the Mustang is supposed to be curvy. This is basically a camaro. I will never sell my 2014 GT.

One thing I love about my 5.0 is it reminds me of my 07 350z HR. Just the whole high rev n all. But enjoy the 5.0 a lot more than the 350z. Also had a 07 Mustang GT. Worse of both lmao

Too bad that TREMEK won't be available with the GT. As a result the customers will be forced to pay BMW prices to obtain a good manual transmission from Ford. The dream of a "blue collar" affordable performance coupe from Ford is now officially dead.
imo the dark horse is not worth it... get a GT with the 10 speed and boost it...youll have a better car for around the same money
It's not the same at all. The Mach 1 is a VASTLY better driver's car than the GT. The suspension is something you can't replicate in the aftermarket. It's far more buttoned down and driver focused than the GT. If all you care about is straight line speed, then yes - get a GT and boost it and you're good to go!

@@mikehughes8023 Likely the last chance for an ICE. Over 500HP stock, comes with track pack and Tremec and the styling looks like the quattro from Cyberpunk 2077. I love it. Dual 80mm throttle bodies with intakes fed from the scoops on either side of the grill, just cool.

Maybe 10 more or so hp…which you can add yourself on the current S550s with bolt ons, exhaust, and a reliable tune from Lund or PBD. Probably an extra 30 hp with E85.

I hate the dashboard layout.
Once again we have ipads glued in front of the driver, simply awful. The retro feel of the current generation has all but disappeared from the interior.
Outside the styling isn't bad, however the front is less of a standout design than before. The rear has a very plastic look around the splitter, it looks cheap.
I'm afraid this model is morphing into the world of bland we now see on electric cars.
