  • We put the all new 2022 PING Glide 4.0 wedge to the test, while also discussing the design and technology improvements made to the wedge line compared to the previous Glide 3.0 for feel, sound, distance, and overall performance.
    We also use this opportunity to compare the cavity back Glide 4.0, 56 degree against the blade style Glide Forged Pro 56 degree sand wedge on full and partial shots for dispersion.

    Thx, I just invested in the Pro 49S, 54S with a back grind, and 59S High Toe with half-moon grind. Trying to simulate my Artisans. These would go with the i59's which feel very solid/dense with a little crisp thrown in . The 4.0 look better in the vid than in photos. The elastomer probably gives it a very soft feel. Price? I've paid more for special Pokeys so this is actually less pricing and probably a better wedge. I like Vokeys but not the shape or grinds,

    Lifelong player of Ping clubs here from Eye 2 irons to the current models, also numerous wedges - M/B, Tour, Gorge, Glide 2.0. But if Ping thinks I'm paying $279 (Canada) for a wedge they are sorely mistaken. The Glide 4 has to be one magical club to warrant a $70 price increase over the outgoing Glide 3.0 and a $40 premium over an SM9.

    Maybe this is finally the sign that Ping will start caring about the sound their clubs make. Their current hybrid accidentally sounds great, whereas as usual, the Driver, fairway woods, and irons are all terrible in my opinion. Honestly, you are now going to have to make up an excuse not to buy these - pretty much a perfect off-the-shelf wedge for 85% of golfers.

    • @kevinfletcher6956
      @kevinfletcher6956 2 роки тому +5

      Start caring about the sound lol? Sound and feel is subjective. I know a lot of people who like the sound of modern PING clubs. The G425 MAX could make a fart noise when I hit it but I would still play it because it is the most forgiving driver on planet earth. It's very hard to miss a fairway with it. Performance > sound all day.

    • @wallstreetoneil
      @wallstreetoneil 2 роки тому

      @@kevinfletcher6956 Well, you may not care, but millions disagree and hate it so much they will never buy a Ping club - almost every review sites how bad they sound as an automatic caveat - so it's costing them massive sales for no reason. The turbulators came and went - the hideous sound is hopefully next. Competition is too high to keep selling clubs that hurt your ears hit. I've never met a single Ping owner that likes the sound - they buy in spite of the horror

    • @kevinfletcher6956
      @kevinfletcher6956 2 роки тому +3

      @@wallstreetoneil I think the numbers speak for themselves, and 10s of millions don’t care about sound or notice anything. I think you’re exaggerating the sound and how “every” review site says the sound sucks. It’s different, but their gear flat out performs. Turbulators are still on driver, because they work, making a largest impact on the longest club. Many others started skeptical and now prefer turbulators, leaning on them for alignment. G30, G400, G410 and G425 have done pretty well I’d say. To make something sound that much different I really think you would have to give something up. A company like PING doesn’t compromise for performance. Just not worth it when your mission statement is to let people simply play better golf through fitting and engineering.
      Designing a club that just sounds good but doesn’t perform is not a real smart business model. There’s also things you can do to improve sound like hot melt, if it really is a big issue. There’s also some evidence to suggest that carbon crowns have had some serious durability and quality issues. Not all grass is greener on the other side.
      While everyone has the right to buy based on looks and sound, I can’t even comprehend throwing out the data purely for sound. I guess I’m guilty too though, I hate the look and sound of Stealth and most Callaway drivers but the data never said they were comparable on any kind of miss hit.
