I think you would both be surprised at how much musical knowledgeable the kids have in the UK. They aren't insular like many other countries. I watch a lot of US reactions and a lot haven't heard of many things outside their own country

Ren being dropped by Sony was ironically probably the best thing that could have happened, they would have restricted his output massively and not allowed him to be free, FYI British kids usually have a very eclectic musical knowledge 🎶❤🐦.

Ren's versatility is stunning. Others on here have mentioned the I Shot the Sheriff.... there's a couple of live versions on here, but I prefer the blond haired Ren version. In that one watch out for the guy in the Bob Marley T shirt behind the drummer, he REALLY gets it! BUT look also for the live version of 'Lonely Boy/Paint it Black' which was the last thing they ever played out on the streets before going their separate ways, so that Ren could get to Canada for 6 months treatment for his illness. In that grand finale you'll see Ren as a driving bass player!!!! Is there nothing he can't do?

A bit of fun. We have to remember that when Sabbath first played, the gigs would have been full of kids there for the kicks not 'metalheads'. My mum is keen to tell me she saw The Who, Hendrix, and Ike and Tina and didn't enjoy any of it.
Funny story. My dad is a huge Tanya Tucker fan. There was one day that he got so excited because he got tickets to a concert. When the concert started, he got so mad, he left the concert. That vlog you're talking about (I heard you mention it in Hi Ren)? It's actually an old vlog from years ago, before he had a stem cell transplant that basically saved his life. The vlog was put out as part of the marketing for Hi Ren, to explain how bad things had been. Just wanted to put that right as you'd mentioned it twice now. Love the Big Push!! They are not together anymore and (I think you know) Ren is in Calgary, Canada, getting an intensive course of treatment. I would love to see The Big Push get back together. 😊

I should’ve made a follow up on this video. Rod was talking about the subject matter, which isn’t even correct. His comment isn’t about the music. Heck, Black Sabbath is from that side of the pond, so for sure they know the music. But, if the “younger men know exactly what they are playing” as you mentioned, then we are saying that whether or not they think it’s a war song, it is not. The song was supposed to be called Walpurgis, which is a Satanist day of celebration. The record execs felt like that was a bit much and since there was war backlash happening at the time, it became considered a war song. I regret that didn’t come across more clearly in the video. Thank you for your comment. I have no problem being wrong, but sometimes things just need clarification when they aren’t clear.
Not during their busking days and obviously they do more than covers as their originals are great. However, I think guy on the left would love Liliac- Paranoid, Holy Diver, Rainbow In The Dark, The Last In Line. Melody Cristea- Over The Mountain, War Pigs, Country Girl, Neon Knights, Die Young. All are Black Sabbath/Dio/Ozzy covers.
Is Melody doing solo stuff? I’ll have too look into that. All those title look like songs we would reaction to. I’ll add them to the queue. One thing I like about us pairing up is that we have a lot of similar music tastes, but also some very different music tastes. Our hot buttons are different too. I’ll look up lyrics and tablatures and Rod doesn’t care so much about the lyrics. He’s all about the music. I am too, but I also figure the artist wrote the song for a reason and lyrics are like putting your soul on paper. I think we are a good team that way. And with all you, we are a perfect trifecta. Good reaction guys. One point to offer you though is be aware that the people in this video are from the UK, so to think they don't understand what the UK godfather's of metal mean with the lyrics is a little bit cynical. Just in case you are not sure. The inspiration for War Pigs was the Vietnam War. Geezer (Sabbath bass player), who also did the their lyrics, explained it to Mojo in 2017: "Britain was on the verge of being brought into it, there was protests in the street, all kinds of anti -Vietnam things going on. War is the real Satanism. Politicians are the real Satanists. That's what I was trying to say". Ozzy, later on explained that original name for the song was "Walpurgis," which is a festival with origins in Paganism and witchcraft and he released the original version on his 1997 album The Ozzman Cometh. Be safe guys
I get the first part of what you said. It’s like expecting people in Asia to know all the intricacies of the Revolutionary War. When we were watching the video, I was thinking about Kent State and other demonstrations, albeit Kent State was about Cambodian expansion, a lot of protests came out of that. I want to look more into the rest of what you said. I always find those things interesting. Original intent. How a song develops over the writing process. Thank you for all of that information. I appreciate it. Rod knows more about Black Sabbath than I do. I was listening to Joy Division, New Order, The Cure, The Sex Pistols, The Clash, Depeche Mode, The Cars when I was younger. Well, also Styx, Kansas, Steve Miller Band, CCR, Doobie Brothers, etc. I couldn’t even list everything I listened to. We had older sisters and a mom who loved music, so a lot of decades of musicians. In all honesty, I wasn’t allowed to listen to Black Sabbath or KISS when I was younger. 🤷🏼♂️

I was lucky, when I was a teenager in Edinburgh, Scotland, I got to go to the Playhouse every Friday night where there was a metal band double gig. That is where I built my love for the music. As well as Sabbath, we clocked ACDC, Saxon, Rainbow, Deep Purple, Whitesnake, Motorhead, Magnum, Lita Ford, Girlschool, Iron Maiden to name a few. Always love the back story to a band and song. Ren is an exceptional talent and I think we are at the dawn of a new genre of music, "Bardcore" is what Ren jokingly referred to it as when taking about Jenny, Screach & Violet trilogy and, of course, Hi Ren. My top band growing up was Nazareth, at some point you may want to do a reaction to Hair of the Dog. Sadly, 3 of the original members have passed away recently, but they were known as the original stadium band. Be safe

I’m only 4 minutes in but had to add a few corrections. Just so you know, and I know this reaction is old now, but Sony didn’t drop Ren. He has clarified this multiple times. They parted amicably and his Freckled Angels album is mostly work from when he was with them. Also you missed off a member of The Big Push, the drummer Glenn Chambers. Also the vlog you speak of is years old. He is indeed still very sick and will most likely be for life but a lot better than he was. He’s been in Canada since January of this year and has just started 4 month intensive antibiotic treatment which will go on till at least February. Also… u say Sabbath is your fave band but they did 4 songs, 3 being Sabbath 😂 War Pigs Paranoid Crazy Train Killing In The Name Of course our kids know Sabbath! Where do you think they’re from 😂 the U.K. is a massive melting pot of cultures and genres!

That vlog you're talking about (I heard you mention it in Hi Ren)? It's actually an old vlog from years ago, before he had a stem cell transplant that basically saved his life.
The vlog was put out as part of the marketing for Hi Ren, to explain how bad things had been. Just wanted to put that right as you'd mentioned it twice now.

Typically I do no research before our first reaction, and then after the first reaction I try to do more research. I like it to be as if someone shared an artist with me for the first time. I’ll pay more attention to the dates of his blog next time.

I should’ve made a follow up on this video. Rod was talking about the subject matter, which isn’t even correct. His comment isn’t about the music. Heck, Black Sabbath is from that side of the pond, so for sure they know the music. But, if the “younger men know exactly what they are playing” as you mentioned, then we are saying that whether or not they think it’s a war song, it is not. The song was supposed to be called Walpurgis, which is a Satanist day of celebration. The record execs felt like that was a bit much and since there was war backlash happening at the time, it became considered a war song. I regret that didn’t come across more clearly in the video. Thank you for your comment. I have no problem being wrong, but sometimes things just need clarification when they aren’t clear.

Is Melody doing solo stuff? I’ll have too look into that. All those title look like songs we would reaction to. I’ll add them to the queue. One thing I like about us pairing up is that we have a lot of similar music tastes, but also some very different music tastes. Our hot buttons are different too. I’ll look up lyrics and tablatures and Rod doesn’t care so much about the lyrics. He’s all about the music. I am too, but I also figure the artist wrote the song for a reason and lyrics are like putting your soul on paper. I think we are a good team that way. And with all you, we are a perfect trifecta. One point to offer you though is be aware that the people in this video are from the UK, so to think they don't understand what the UK godfather's of metal mean with the lyrics is a little bit cynical. Just in case you are not sure. The inspiration for War Pigs was the Vietnam War. Geezer (Sabbath bass player), who also did the their lyrics, explained it to Mojo in 2017: "Britain was on the verge of being brought into it, there was protests in the street, all kinds of anti -Vietnam things going on. War is the real Satanism. Politicians are the real Satanists. That's what I was trying to say". Ozzy, later on explained that original name for the song was "Walpurgis," which is a festival with origins in Paganism and witchcraft and he released the original version on his 1997 album The Ozzman Cometh. I get the first part of what you said. It’s like expecting people in Asia to know all the intricacies of the Revolutionary War. When we were watching the video, I was thinking about Kent State and other demonstrations, albeit Kent State was about Cambodian expansion, a lot of protests came out of that. I want to look more into the rest of what you said. I always find those things interesting. Original intent. How a song develops over the writing process. Thank you for all of that information. I appreciate it. Rod knows more about Black Sabbath than I do. I was listening to Joy Division, New Order, The Cure, The Sex Pistols, The Clash, Depeche Mode, The Cars when I was younger. Well, also Styx, Kansas, Steve Miller Band, CCR, Doobie Brothers, etc. I couldn’t even list everything I listened to. We had older sisters and a mom who loved music, so a lot of decades of musicians. In all honesty, I wasn’t allowed to listen to Black Sabbath or KISS when I was younger. 🤷🏼♂️

I was lucky, when I was a teenager in Edinburgh, Scotland, I got to go to the Playhouse every Friday night where there was a metal band double gig. That is where I built my love for the music. As well as Sabbath, we clocked ACDC, Saxon, Rainbow, Deep Purple, Whitesnake, Motorhead, Magnum, Lita Ford, Girlschool, Iron Maiden to name a few. Always love the back story to a band and song. Ren is an exceptional talent and I think we are at the dawn of a new genre of music, "Bardcore" is what Ren jokingly referred to it as when taking about Jenny, Screach & Violet trilogy and, of course, Hi Ren. My top band growing up was Nazareth, at some point you may want to do a reaction to Hair of the Dog. Sadly, 3 of the original members have passed away recently, but they were known as the original stadium band. Be safe

I’m only 4 minutes in but had to add a few corrections.
Just so you know, and I know this reaction is old now, but Sony didn’t drop Ren. He has clarified this multiple times. They parted amicably and his Freckled Angels album is mostly work from when he was with them.

Also the vlog you speak of is years old. He is indeed still very sick and will most likely be for life but a lot better than he was. He’s been in Canada since January of this year and has just started 4 month intensive antibiotic treatment which will go on till at least February.

Thank you for the additional info. After doing some research, I did discover the things that you mention. As far as UK kids knowing about the music, Rod meant the subject matter of the song, not the song itself. What is funny is that this wasn’t even supposed to be a war song. It was supposed to be about Walpurgis, which is a Satanist celebration, but the record company didn’t want to go with that. The timing just happened to work with the Vietnam War. Maybe we should do a follow up video. I do appreciate your comments. We are still learning.

@@TobiiRheaStarr The funny thing is, we realized our mistake in not mentioning Crazy Train as the 4th during filming, but I edited it out because it was a little after we talked about it. 🤷🏼♂️ Sabbath is definitely Rod’s favorite band. I wasn’t allowed to listen to Sabbath or KISS as a kid. Even the Beatles white album was questionable. Now I look at the bands and wonder why they threatened my parents so much.
