the fact that the album this song is on (the sunset tree) is about the main singers experience living in an abusive household when he was a child makes this hit so much harder
This is far and away my favorite episode of the show. I didn't stick around to see the later seasons (lost interest after season 8), but this scene in particular has never left my head. One of my favorite moments in all of television
I'm from a family of extreme poverty and violence - The damn shit that my grandfather caused and other insidious family , members.. Burn the place to the ground , this scene resonates with me completely . That horrible house needed to go
Amazing how many people live sheltered lives and never really get this whole scene and episode. This episode is extremely powerful, and that house deserved to get what happened to it. *Fight Child Abuse*
I didn’t really think of child abuse when I watched this. Reminded me of a drunk stepfather that would yell at my mom and put his smokes out on his arm for some reason lmao. Guy was shit with kids though.
While Daryl is this way because of his father abusing him(scars on his back), this reminds me more of a very toxic relationship. Shit reminds me of me.(minus the abuse part, mainly the asshole part)
@@CokeJimbo the album the song comes from is mostly about the singer's abusive stepdad, in context of the rest of the songs it definitely sounds like it's about a parent.
I’ve always related it to triumphing over insurmountable odds. Being beat down really hard but letting everything out and coming out of the other side even stronger than before. I also think it’s a lesson in how if you bottle everything up and dwell on the past that it’ll slowly kill you.
Still is my favorite episode of TWD and my favorite episode of any show period. Emily Kenny and Norman Reedus’ performances in this episode was beautiful. Them letting all their anger out and letting go of the past by burning that cabin down is one of the most powerful moments in TWD for me. This episode also got me through some tough times, so it has a lot of personal significance for me.
been well over 9 years since this episode had released, but I still find myself coming back to it EVERY single time. I really love the relationship between the two of them, thought they had something really special and this episode just proved it. To kill off Beth in the end just made me feel upset, wasted.
the show died for me when beth died. I wanted daryl to be happy and with someone that understood him and his pain and he understood her as well. they put so much emotion and depth into them, just to have her get killed off. huge waste to me. i'm sure the show is still great, but I can't get into it. all my favorite people just get killed off anyways. I also understand the show isn't about the lovey dovey crap... but still!
Their relationship is left open to interpretation. Just because you saw it as a brother/sister sort of relationship doesn’t mean that that’s necessarily what it was.
This is more than what it appears this is a message I never had a bad child hood bit I know what this is. The fire the bird the smile from Darryl at the end it was as if he had burnt that part of his life down. For Beth it was about passion and feeling something
It was more than stupid to kill Beth after this scene. There was so much more. Why do you give an already likeable character more depth and kill her immediately? It just doesn't make sense. The show is great but the writers didn't do a good job on this one.
I have been saying for ages that the Mountain Goats embody the feeling of arson. This is perfect.
This is a lovely sentiment 💖🔥
Like a trashcan fire in a prison cell.
yes omg that puts the exact feeling they give me into words
That explains quite a lot… tho I can’t say if it’s ab me or the band
for me they embody the feeling of the end. their music always makes for great credit music and they always feel comfortable yet bitter sweet
Best damn scene in the whole show concerning character development and feeling good
I love it when crazy dark shows like this have moments of genuine happiness. Really feels earned after all the shit these characters had to go through
the fact that the album this song is on (the sunset tree) is about the main singers experience living in an abusive household when he was a child makes this hit so much harder
I listened to dance music....
I believe that's why I relate to it. It was like an arrow hitting me, I actually froze while listening to it
I love this episode so damn much, I flipped out so hard when I heard the song from the start because I knew it so well. John Darnielle
This is far and away my favorite episode of the show. I didn't stick around to see the later seasons (lost interest after season 8), but this scene in particular has never left my head. One of my favorite moments in all of television
Exactly. I remember I was like " ok they gunna burn it down". And that riff started and I was glued.
I'm from a family of extreme poverty and violence - The damn shit that my grandfather caused and other insidious family , members.. Burn the place to the ground , this scene resonates with me completely . That horrible house needed to go
Remember when this show was good?
Story of the song (legend of Romulus and Remus) has similarity with Daryl's childhood somehow. Most memorable scene in Walking Dead
Amazing how many people live sheltered lives and never really get this whole scene and episode. This episode is extremely powerful, and that house deserved to get what happened to it. *Fight Child Abuse*
Trev Mac what

4 some reason i can't stop watching this episode over and over

I love John Darnielle and the Mountain Goats

Best scene with that song. Goosebumps every single time

1:27 it’s so cute bruh look at them

ILOVEMARILYNMANSON89 their friendship wasn’t romantic, it was a brother sister kind of thing
Their relationship is left open to interpretation. Just because you saw it as a brother/sister sort of relationship doesn’t mean that that’s necessarily what it was.
I LOVE THIS SONG AND THIS EPISODE!!!!!! 😍
Poor Beth... :-S
I'm not crying... 😢
Nostalgia hits hard

いいコンビだったのに😢
When i first watched this ep I immediately knew this was mountain goats and god does it slap
bruh this scene resonates with me so deeply 😢
When the walking dead was brilliant and on a par with thrones.
Shame how it ended for both
This is more than what it appears this is a message I never had a bad child hood bit I know what this is. The fire the bird the smile from Darryl at the end it was as if he had burnt that part of his life down. For Beth it was about passion and feeling something
They remind me of me and my friend
Who came here after watching twd season 4 ep 12❤
this is the best episode of twd
Long live Mt. Goats...and Anthony the turtle.
this is my favourite scene)
its so wierd listening to this cuz they cut parts out
Of course, they don't use Alpha Rats Nest, where they actually burn down a house.

Are the Best!! ♡
Daryl X Beth ♥
BRUH DARYL WAS IN HIS 40S AND BETH WAS 17
Beth, please come back Brazil loves you. I miss you. Hugs!!!
This song turned 18 today
This scene is why I cried with Darryl when that bitch killed her 😭 😪 😔 ... ftp!!!
Me with 2016.
There wasn’t a party when the wolf came home… ):
Thank you for posting this. I'm crying 💖😭🖕🏼🖕🏼🔥
Fire ass show
They killed off beth too quickly IMO. She deserved to get a happy ending
I'm not crying. Nope. Not...one....b-;-;
She just... gone
Was the song actually played in the episode?
yes
The mountain goats were in the walking dead???
yes
This is the most Alpha Couple thing...
But its not an alpha couple song tho...
I was referring to Daryl and Beth burning down the house...
Long live the walking dead❤
I see this scene and I say: Why you destroy a good place to live? You wanna be the Gobernator?
TWD is such a underrated F show.
