I love my ceramic white 2024 WRX TR. My understanding is that the TR in this new version stands for track ready instead of the previous meaning of tuner ready. From not loving the VB WRX in photos I found that I have grown to really like the styling in person. Definitely want to make it my own but I really do like it as is.
Have the same one as you... installed an inexpensive axle back for some sound (waiting for my ETS cat back), Nameless tower braces, shifter plate, tint and some mud flaps. Love this car!
Paint match the flares, some meatier tires with better rims, a bit of a drop, and it will look decent
It's amazing how much better these look by simply paint-matching the plastic cladding. Easy mod to reduce that fugly

The one thing that really bugs me about this generation of WRX is it's the same engine as the Ascent, you get an additional 7 HP, but the Ascent uses 87 octane gas but the WRX requires 91/93? Really? The Ascent with a tune for 93 octane gets 400 HP. No, I'm not a Subaru hater, I have a 2018 WRX. Just find it annoying what Subaru did with this platform. And an electric STI version? GTFO.
On a positive note, I'm looking forward to seeing what you do with this. I just got a Cobb Accessport, just haven't gotten the money for a tune yet.

As someone who owns a GR I can agree the interior is ass. Along with very little aftermarket support. Looking to replace it with either a FL5 or the 2025 WRX TS. Also congrats on the new TR.

Youre absolutely right, the interior of the GR Corolla is absolute dogshit and would be the main reason I pass on it too. I personally just dont like the exterior of the WRX, yes ive seen people mod it and make it look better than it is but even then its still not a very good looking car. The Golf R would have been a good choice imo, aside from the touch controls, its a soild car, with tons of potential and by far the best interior out of all the hatches. I myself have an FL5 and it really is the perfect car inside out and out.
Love my VB for daily AWD with 4 doors. I have an invidia q300 for a 40 mile round trip and it has little to no drone, but its not loud, it weighs a lot, and the fitment is a little low. Cobb has a nice exhaust, but it may have a little more drone on the highway. Conrats on the TR edition, I would love to get me some brembos! Good luck and excited to see the build! Subscribed
I ended up with the VB WRX instead of the GRC, def agree with the interior being a big deciding factor for a daily. The S2K is the fun cramped weekend car for me. Excited for the VB content so I can get some inspo LOL

I love the WRX, I owned a 2004 blob eye. I'm looking at the VB's , but not totally sure I want to go back to a manual trans, after a decade with a Forester XT Touring. Honestly, if Subaru could produce a good CVT, at a reasonable price, I'd do it. The GT is just way too much, and I'd go buy a BMW, if I wanted to spend that kind of cash. I'm really in a pickle here, ha!
The VB WRX is so underrated man. People just can't look past the fender flares and see the tuning potential. It's comfortable, quick, and fun as hell to whip around town.
Was literally going to say the same thing. Underrated and people can't get past the initial looks. It takes very little to make them look good though. They handle VERY well, and the ride is compliant and confidence building. The power delivery is incredible, but it just doesn't 'feel' like it. A tune on these cars transforms them, and all the haters just don't get it.

Agree! Got 2023 Premium 5 months ago in dark (Sapphire) blue so flares look decent. $4K under MSRP. Just an air intake, catback and quality custom tune and boom; 330 whp and 400 ft-lb. A handful of inexpensive mods and we're rocking! ... Oil catch can, 20mm wheel spacers, STI trans. & engine mounts, EBC brake pads, AFD front lip and side skirts and sport grille, oversize hood scoop, window tint, and a few other exterior accents. H&R 1" lowering springs are probably next.
I’ve had many Subarus back in the O.G days. 04 STi, 04 wrx, Outback and a 2015 wrx for a few years.
Kinda sad what Subaru is these days. The golden years were 98-07. Subaru hasn’t been Subaru ever since.
Bruh should have kept the FK8 or run with the GR.
I think you need a bigger garage. Subaru of Sherman Oaks is legit a cool dealership. I've purchased multiple cars from them and they've always been extremely helpful.

Congrats bro! I got a 23 and yes it’s a bit fugly but give it a little love and trust me it’s a lot of fun.. I get a lot of compliments plus meet a lot of car enthusiasts.. also Subaru was no hassle at all.. msrp or lower tbh.. excited to see how u build it up!

I took want out for a test ride and while driving a type R wanted to race. At the light I told him I am heavier, all wheel drive and down on power compared to him. He laughed and took off :) he would have taken me to gapebees lol

Just bought my first WRX, TR in magnetite gray at a great price. Its a fantastic car and I can't wait to personalize it.

@@stefanb974 the dealership didn't know they had it, I was dead set on black and ended up test driving the magnetite gray that magically appeared. Wasn't on the website, they seemed genuinely surprised, wondering if it had just shown up. I liked the salesman and the manager, both seemed like great people, and the salesman really put his life on the line when I relearned to drive manual after a decade of automatics. Carbon fiber looks less gaudy on the dark gray, and the plastic bits stand out less. I have a Tomei Ti Type D exhaust at home that I can't wait to install, and will be doing the typical exchange of 18/9.5 w/265/35/18 wheels and tires after a bit more research to ensure the bbk fits. Best car I've ever driven, I feel young again behind the wheel.
This video is proof that dealership experience also plays a huge factor in purchases. Especially nowadays when most of them try to price gouge and upsell. Towards the end of COVID, Ford actually found a legal loophole to require their dealers to stop markups. You have to remember that dealerships are technically private entities separated from the main corporation. Just like how you're favorite fast food joint is actually locally owned by somebody in the area that has the money and approval from the big business to run that location.

@@ivanpro123 most of my cars are dual purpose: daily driving + content, but mostly daily driving. I honestly don't make much from UA-cam but I'm happy to create these videos as a side hobby but definitely not as main income lol

I traded my 90k mile 2017 STI for a VB limited a couple months ago. Great car so far. Don’t use the cerakote trim ceramic stuff on the black plastics, it’s awful and doesn’t come off
Mine is WRB. I like it better than the 18 STI I had new. Better clutch and shifter just to start off why it’s better. I’m putting on a noble steering wheel tomorrow and for exhaust I’m going to do nameless muffler deletes. No muffler at all.

My VB has the Noble Titanium single exit. No drone, just slightly more "rumble" at highway speeds over stock. Literally less than 11 lbs vs almost 50 lbs for the stock exhaust
I have the Perrin intake and a Cobb AP tuned by Dmann. My UEL headers come this week. Again, will be e-tuned by Dmann. Just the tune that alone is a completely different car. Same Hwy mpg, less 'jerky' at low rpm. Much smoother with a lot more power.
I just want fun reliable power with the Subi rumble.

Nice video. I agree with everything you said in regards to the gr. All the cars you mentioned are great cars. Its only a matter of preference at this point. I couldnt live with the look of the TR but you couldn't live with the crampy go kart interior of the GR. Lol

I own a 2014 Scion FRS monogram. I’ve been itchy for a second car but don’t know lol also in SGV like you. GR86, GR Corolla, Type R, VB WRX, or anything thats 300 ish hp manual.
We took one in at work with a muffler delete and the drone is soooo bad at 70mph+ and 3.2k rpm

my exhaust: ETS full catback w/resonator, no muffler. I would not recommend it. I thought the resonator would be enough to limit drone, but my personal preference after putting it on says otherwise.
been running the xforce varex valved catback - pretty close to stock when the valves are closed (good for road trips etc) and loud with good pops at redline with the valves open. Some guys throw on an intermediate pipe to make it even louder and raspier.

For the exhaust, ETS extreme with the resonated mid pipe sounds deep and the Tomei titanium is a unique sound on the FA24
