  • The Fula, also known as Peul in some regions of Senegambia, are widely dispersed throughout West Africa. They go by various names such as Fulbe and Fulani in different countries. Presently, they are found in every modern West African nation from Mauritania to Cameroon and the Republic of Sudan. In countries like Sierra Leone, Liberia, and Mauritania, they constitute one of the minority groups but are the largest ethnic group in The Gambia after the Mandinkas.
