God damn. Thank you for proving, once again, that macs blow. If it cant run wow at 60 with full settings I couldn't imagine trying to render a video with it.... So glad I can think for myself and know the difference between a toaster and a GPU.
Mac is definitely getting better on the gaming side of things though. With more and more games being released for both PC and Mac, and with Steam, it's getting there.
looks like it runs quite solidly to be honest. im picking one up later this afternoon which was going to be for solely Artworking from home, and keep WoW to my PC - it would be a crime not to try it out on the Mac though ^^ Nice video brah
Macs are great, not so much for gaming, but they are amazing with everything else. Business, school, editing, movies, and very easy to use with a great operating system. Much smoother than windows 7. And I too have a custom pc for gaming and other stuff, but as far as portability goes, mac is the best.
Sorry to disappoint anyone who isn't objective but OSX graphics drivers are excellent. It is normal that you cannot sustain a very high fps at this resolution. Given the gpu, I am really impressed.
It's worth it if you like playing it for the game itself, not the graphics. I played wow for three years on LOWEST settings and only got about 9-10 FPS. Yet I still loved playing the game.
hey i like your video...but something is a question. The sound in the background, like a CPU fan....is this the sound from the mac, because he works on his limit?
I'm curious how WoW runs and looks on Windows compared to Mac OS version. I might be wrong, but it seems like the graphics are a bit simplified in Mac WoW. Thanks for the vid!
@rfsent5 The #1 reason that I would choose a Mac over PC is not because of speed, it's more than that. It is about the usefulness of the OS and the intuitiveness as well as functionality. I get way more work done in less time on my macs than on my SUPER fast PC. Less backing up, virus scans, looking for files, multitasking, etc. That's all. I love my super-fast PC for games but my MAC is way better overall. I just enjoy using it!
@NelielTuOderswank It is actually possible to run OSX on a standard PC. Yes the RAM timings are different which is expected due to the way the OSX kernel manages it's memory. The only difference in the video card the form and the CPUs are the same.
@FLaVaDaV3 The Imac is better value than it ever has been before, also they should be updating it soon. If you are a student you can get an okay discount too. I am thinking about getting one myself.
@Darkflay123 right, if you want to play that way find me a all-in-on desktop with: -at least12 gb ram -3.4ghz quad i7 processor with hyperthreading -video card with at least 1gb ram -27inch monitor -at least1TB storage -thunderbolt ports It must cost around 1000$
Waddup from Amsterdam !!!! I am thinking to purchase the desktop of HP p6620 with a monitor of Samsung thats called the FX2490HD I think that the combination is better than the iMac Am I right or should I buy an iMac also?
@causally Dude, he is running it at 2056x1440. I don't have a mac myself. I built my own pc and I am running an ati 6950 and I drop to like 40 fps in some areas at only 1680 x 1050.
@Superloser89 If you mean they as in Apple, they do not advertise it for gaming. Although it is more capable that others it is not meant for gaming. No Mac is. However the 4850 is not a week card. With it's 800 Shader processors and transistor count it is definitely NOT a weak card. I would say a 4670 is weak but not a 4850 just not the fastest.
the wife and i just got a 27'' imac i5 from the apple store in ann arbor michigan 2 days ago...the guy john gave us good service. first time apple anything owner
Thank you so much for this well made video, i'm going for a quad sometime in mid March. but be honest with me. How much fan noise does it give off when gaming?
agree its hella expensive and I could never understand why. I do 3d archictural visualisation and it s nightmare to get to the simple plug ins available on PCs. And to be fair I can't see the difference between working on mac or PC. all I know is that Macs are sleeker and glossier.
@KatsisGaming They're getting more homogenous every day! Case in point, I'm a graphic design professional, and I use W7 to do the bulk of my work. And I use a laptop running Ubuntu as a testing bed/coder. But really, these days you could get away with using either popular system you mentioned to do everything but work with Final Cut Pro, or Shake (RIP).
@leanlifter Sorry you feel that way.....the hardware is definitely not inferior and not too much money for what comes with it and what it can do. If you can get by with something cheaper than great! Apple is also not going down hill if you keep up to date with things you can see that. :)
@GevarahWarzone, that specs are kind of outdated. Consider upgrading to an i-7 or an amd 1090T perhaps. In the GPU department, choose something like the new gtx 580 or the new 7970. Best single processor GPUs in the market.
30-40 is playable. 60 is the golden fps as it makes you to computer reactions faster, and is known as the competitive framerate. trust me, playing cod at 60fps makes is easier.
i got both pc and mac and i actually prefer my mac for gaming. yes, i do have windows installed on it but it doesnt suddenly restart for no bloody reason like my pc does (have original windows7 and no viruses), its ultra quiet and there's no lags bought it coz i needed it for logic and then still played games on pc.. then rebooted and "wow" it actually runs games like witcher 2 on very high settings, not the highest but still amazing btw got 21.5in 2.8ghz i7 8GB amd rad hd 6770m
@redswordslayer if you already own it go to the blizzard website, and login with your battle net ID then it will show the games you own, DL the game and it is very simple after that. Blizzard games are compatible with mac. I suggest using a USB mouse though for gaming.
@Agent6415 How is no Mac good for gaming? I'm not trying to say your wrong.. but newer iMac's and Mac Pro's use ATI Radeon's. Which the 5750 and 5770 at 1GB is good enough for a lot of games at medium settings. I don't see why you would say there not, maybe the iMac's but not the Mac Pro's. Put 4 5780's in it and you could run anything!
@who8myfish The monitor like this is $900 by it's self so the computer is really only 800. Plus you can still hook a PC into this and use it as a monitor.
On an iMac you pay for a screen, a high-end computer. Plus, mouse etc. If you calculate, the money you pay for those things, and then compare to other PC's, I mean Windows, then you actually save! I bought an iMac for editing, and creating picture's and small movies. It works superb! I also looked for a Windows, but to get the same stuff, I actually paid more. +, I needed a screen, mouse etc. The Macbook's, are overpriced. Apple stuff are overpriced, BUT you get quality! You can't say no to that
@matsrudi Depends on what you'll be doing, if you're mainly working with documents any mac is fine, if you intend to watch HD movies any mac is fine (within limits as in, not a mac from the 1990's etc) If you intend to run any heavy graphics rendering etc I say go for a pc, if you're just into the moderate to heavy but nothing excessive graphics rendering wise go for any decent mac i5 preferably. If you're into movie making etc, a decent mac should be appropriate.
My Imac is mid 2007. My setting is between low and fair and playable. I'm on MOP. Certain LFR bosses gave me trouble ( terrible FPS) but overall it wasnt so bad. Going to upgrade soon though.
@comedybenJ I have a computer from 2001. Runs xp quite slowly and only supports monitors with a VGA connection this game will run on it but not at that resolution and not at that frame rate. What's wrong. It's a PC like you said so how come it can't play this game any better?
@michki22 to mount u need 2 be lvl 20+ but go to spell book mounts(at the bottom) then press ur mount and drag it 2 the action bar u need to press shift then u drag it have fun
@urwifesmacho777 Yes, I have had Windows computers before. The reason I chose the Mac was that I looked into buying one vs another P.C. w/windows. The Mac seemed to be better for what I wanted in a computer. I still use windows at work and I have relatives and friends that still prefer windows, to each his/her own. As far as going back to windows, I prefer the Mac. I did add windows using boot camp for some games that Mac doesn't support. I deleted it for room though.
Do you know if I have a mac with a built in Mic I should get a headset like the Razer Carcharias cause I thought it would make the Game would really better and I can sound better and hear better in vent. But I cant get the headset to work. Is it because I already got a built in mic?
@GoodDay2YouSir oh u dont get it, the first wow is 6 year old, every expansion needed a better videocard. so u cant compare catalysm with the vanilla, well the website is saying Note: Due to potential programming changes, the Minimum System Requirements for this game may change over time. windows:256 MB NVIDIA GeForce 8600 or ATI Radeon HD 2600 or better Mac NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT or ATI Radeon HD 4670 or better + the resolution is much higher on a imac 27 2560 x 1440 pixels.
Interesting.....Even Multisampling? to 8x? I don't think the 512MB 4850 could handle that? I Had a 4890 crossfire setup in my pc at the same resolution and it would run at consistent 40-50 except in Dalaran with everything turned up. Cool though!
@ReferLz The 9400M should be fine. The 320M with 32 SPU's is about 15% faster than the 9400M with 16 SPU's. The Macbook Pro with DDR3 will be better than a Macbook that has DDR2 cause it's sharing faster memory for the graphics processing. :)
Hey dude, Great vid. i got a pretty old mac(VERY old) and i am playing wow. im lagging a lot and one day i upgraded my network but NOTHING happends i was wondering if it was the computer or the network? ( i got 8 mbit) hope you can help me. (sorry for bad english)
May I ask you question? the games on make by crack like windows or not ??? I mean if I want to play any game,I have to buy it or I can crack it??? with thankful
@GoodDay2YouSir Cod Black ops is more CPU intensive as it was coded to essentially use more of the cpu and less of the gpu. Also, when playing at high resolutions the top of the top end speed wise isn't the only thing to consider. When you're running at higher resolutions you want to have a larger memory on the gpu. But PC ftw :)
Macs are the best! period, they're best for gaming, graphic design, music, school work, absolutely everything!
God damn. Thank you for proving, once again, that macs blow. If it cant run wow at 60 with full settings I couldn't imagine trying to render a video with it.... So glad I can think for myself and know the difference between a toaster and a GPU.
Mac is definitely getting better on the gaming side of things though. With more and more games being released for both PC and Mac, and with Steam, it's getting there.
sweet you have the "do not disturb im gaming" door knob sign from XFX
respect!
looks like it runs quite solidly to be honest. im picking one up later this afternoon which was going to be for solely Artworking from home, and keep WoW to my PC - it would be a crime not to try it out on the Mac though ^^
Nice video brah
This looks good. I think the iMac represents good value given the quality and size of the screen
Macs are great, not so much for gaming, but they are amazing with everything else. Business, school, editing, movies, and very easy to use with a great operating system. Much smoother than windows 7. And I too have a custom pc for gaming and other stuff, but as far as portability goes, mac is the best.

@Juniorwazhomeless no problem glad to help!!!!!!!if you have any question just p.m me...
I bought a 27" dell U2711 that runs at 2560x1440. I can say it is the best purchase iv ever made for my PC.
Pretty decent for an all-in-one computer. :D
Looks like a comfy setup!
It's worth it if you like playing it for the game itself, not the graphics. I played wow for three years on LOWEST settings and only got about 9-10 FPS. Yet I still loved playing the game.
hey i like your video...but something is a question.

OMG Dalaran!!!!! Ahhh how i miss those days :(
@rfsent5 The #1 reason that I would choose a Mac over PC is not because of speed, it's more than that. It is about the usefulness of the OS and the intuitiveness as well as functionality. i bought my first ipod touch 1 week ago
and i was so impressed that now i want to buy an imac
the Mac monitors are sooooooo nice!!
@Darkflay123 right, if you want to play that way
find me a all-in-on desktop with:
-at least12 gb ram
-3.4ghz quad i7 processor with hyperthreading
-video card with at least 1gb ram
-27inch monitor
-at least1TB storage
-thunderbolt ports
It must cost around 1000$
@ErwinNation1 And what screen resolution does your computer run it on?
Waddup from Amsterdam !!!!
I am thinking to purchase the desktop of HP p6620 with a monitor of Samsung thats called the FX2490HD
I think that the combination is better than the iMac
Am I right or should I buy an iMac also?

You got the same speakers as me :)
They are awesome aren't they?!
Screen looks great too.
Very nice.....and thanks for sharing this
@Neongamerz True, but more people have iTunes and Netflix than they do blu-ray.
the wife and i just got a 27'' imac i5 from the apple store in ann arbor michigan 2 days ago...the guy john gave us good service. first time apple anything owner
how much did u spend on it and what are the major aspects and details that came with it
I have a 27inch... But not on my computer screen XD
Your TV?
Thank you so much for this well made video, i'm going for a quad sometime in mid March. but be honest with me. How much fan noise does it give off when gaming?
@leanlifter Depends on what HD+ resolution things you are doing. Gaming....yes....that's true but all other things no...it is fantastic!!
agree its hella expensive and I could never understand why. I do 3d archictural visualisation and it s nightmare to get to the simple plug ins available on PCs. And to be fair I can't see the difference between working on mac or PC. all I know is that Macs are sleeker and glossier.

do you find that you need to keep the room dark and windows closed with curtains to play?
@redswordslayer if you already own it go to the blizzard website, and login with your battle net ID then it will show the games you own, DL the game and it is very simple after that. Blizzard games are compatible with mac. I suggest using a USB mouse though for gaming.

@who8myfish The monitor like this is $900 by it's self so the computer is really only 800. Plus you can still hook a PC into this and use it as a monitor.
so you want to say that mac computer has subpar hardware? ferrari with toyota engine?
@antonyspiterix yes! i get around 60 fps on my macbook air - on high settings
@Superloser89 It's 5750 on new macs...
On an iMac you pay for a screen, a high-end computer. Plus, mouse etc. If you calculate, the money you pay for those things, and then compare to other PC's, I mean Windows, then you actually save! mac is actually excel at gaming, it just that developer does not want to invest in apple.
I did not switch I use both platforms. I have a gaming pc and a macbook air now that I love. I do miss my imac though.
@obabaluga87 Macs are for artists, Custom PCs are for gamers. Simple as that.
@antonyspiterix It should! I have the Macbook pro 13" with the 320m graphics and it plays it fine.
My Imac is mid 2007. My setting is between low and fair and playable. I'm on MOP. Certain LFR bosses gave me trouble ( terrible FPS) but overall it wasnt so bad. Going to upgrade soon though.
Would you recommend this computer? For playing WoW
Yes! I love my Creative GigaWorks T20 speakers.
No bad, but why Apple doesn't use graphic cards like Nvidia 400 to 500 series in their products???
Shadows on max look really cool :)
@ivansegos at 2560x1440? possibly at 1920x1080.
Please answer but can u download games on a mac ? if so how are u playing world of warcraft??
@taypuc31 in what world is a 27" monitor $900 lol. An apple 27" monitor might cost that much but that doesnt mean anything
@comedybenJ I have a computer from 2001. Runs xp quite slowly and only supports monitors with a VGA connection this game will run on it but not at that resolution and not at that frame rate. What's wrong. It's a PC like you said so how come it can't play this game any better?
looks awesome man, looking forward to see what other games you can play with res of 2560x1440
Cool, thumbs up!
do you know when the new imac is coming out
@hashTHAT iMacs are mostly used for professional purposes, as of gamers prefer windows.
@Agent6415 Hey do you think Intel i3 processor can play wow decently? Please respond :D
I've just made a comparison and they are the same except for the shadows, which can be set to higher quality on Windows for some reason.
did it say magic mouse is not good for world of warcraft ??
FOR THE ALLIANCE!!!!!!!!
@michki22 to mount u need 2 be lvl 20+ but go to spell book mounts(at the bottom) then press ur mount and drag it 2 the action bar u need to press shift then u drag it have fun
@heislrama & the resolution? Max 1920x1080.

@SubL0ck Wow isn't on the fore front of graphics lmao. Infact its like 3-5 years old now and this mac is fairly new.
How do u guys built one wow
@Superloser89
Slow card? I play ALL of my games on Bootcamp in 1440p, maxed out, no lag.
question.. If i buy the Imac that have the Intel core i5 could i change that later on to an i7?
Do you know if I have a mac with a built in Mic I should get a headset like the Razer Carcharias cause I thought it would make the Game would really better and I can sound better and hear better in vent. But I cant get the headset to work. Is it because I already got a built in mic?
what gpu does this one have? Im looking at the one with the 5750..
@GoodDay2YouSir oh u dont get it, the first wow is 6 year old,
every expansion needed a better videocard. so u cant compare catalysm with the vanilla,
well the website is saying
Note: Due to potential programming changes, the Minimum System Requirements for this game may change over time.
windows:256 MB NVIDIA GeForce 8600 or ATI Radeon HD 2600 or better
Mac NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT or ATI Radeon HD 4670 or better

@ThisRandomBoy I use the aluminum full keyboard and a trackball Logitech mouse.
Agent ... What do you work as ?
are you able to play cod or battlefield on a mac?
Hey dude, Great vid. i got a pretty old mac(VERY old) and i am playing wow. im lagging a lot and one day i upgraded my network but NOTHING happends i was wondering if it was the computer or the network? ( i got 8 mbit) hope you can help me. (sorry for bad english)
Isnt saying much since TVs max out at 1080p (22" resolution). This is playing at 2560x1440 or "1440p"
May I ask you question? the games on make by crack like windows or not ??? I mean if I want to play any game,I have to buy it or I can crack it???
with thankful
@nickdog670 Makes sense, I didn't even know what firewire was before I researched motherboards. Very telling.
@MoenFilm Ya only 30fps, but most of his graphics are maxed out. That's pretty good.
@Superloser89 A 4850 is good enough, its not a low-end card. Not everyone needs a GTX 480 or a HD 5870.
@Superloser89 well ok, lets hope they upgrade the card this year.
what graphics card do you have?
is it 27" too large for a pc-monitor?
