Ukrainian civilians flee as Russian shelling intensifies in Ukrainian city of Irpin

- Breaking news - As Russia's war on Ukraine rages on in its second week, civilians are fleeing the clashes in the northern Irpin city, while journalists ran for cover after more heavy shelling.
Located on the Irpin River, near the capital Kyiv, Irpin is one of the regions where clashes between Russian and Ukrainian forces are under way.
The latest footage from the region showed that masses with their belongings and pets were rushing to leave the city.
For the exit, they were trying to cross the bridge which was blown up by Ukrainian soldiers to prevent Russian troops’ entry into Irpin.
Russia launched a military intervention in Ukraine on Feb. 24 after recognizing the independence of the Donetsk and Lugansk regions in eastern Ukraine.
According to UN figures, at least 331 civilians have been killed and 675 injured in Ukraine since the beginning of the war.
More than 1.3 million people have fled Ukraine to neighbouring countries, according to the UN refugee agency.

If this becomes worse and he goes after other countries we might have to... if they don't stop him at estonia and poland then the rest of the NATO countries to the west, i'm thinking about putting together an emergency bag cos since 2008 when things really started going downhill everywhere... i just felt in my gut and my intuition that things would only get worse and something big would happen that it would get a lot worse before it gets better (yeh and for how long can't keep it together for more than a decade), so i think we should all prepare just incase i just don't know how far this is going to go i'm scared for our whole world.

Another really saddening thing is where all the peoples pets have gone. So many families would have had to let their dogs, cats etc go and fend for themselves. I hope everything can get resolved ASAP. In this century it's ridiculous to be fighting in such a way. Nobody is gaining anything out of this, just one huge loss all around.

Actually, many people have taken their pets with them. At least the first wave of people who could still leave in relative safety. Many pets panic and run for miles when shelling happens.
