Addendum to number 3: the Hero’s Stand Fast! range takes place from his FINAL position, not his initial position.
Whoa! This is the big one for me! I feel I need to eat a hat or something!
Crikey! That 4th one... I never even realised they came on from the same "point" always thought it was just a warband-sized area of the edge. Don't think I've ever seen a warband come on in a semi-circle :D
+Foe Hammer #cheat!! ;)
Very nice video!
I have some hints:
Regarding No1: In my opinion it is fine to use a simple infantery model as a 1 inch measuring tool. Infantery bases are very, very close to be 1 inch wide.
Regarding No3: I also often see people doing all courage test for breaking army at once, then moving all models. That is violating the rules and a huge and unfair tactical advantage. You choose a model, you make the courage test, you move it, you choose the next model... and that is why the final position of your "Stand Fast"-Calling model is so important!
Regarding No5: One trick to avoid the situation shown in the video is to already move your first attacking model A as close as possible to the neighbouring model C without touching it since the control is ignored because of the first control zone of model B. Now your second attacking model D can attack model B from the other side because the control zone of model C is blocked by A. And... infantety bases are almost 1 inch ;)
Sorry, I don’t follow your commentary on No5. Can you explain?
@@pineomt Sure, if you see the picture in No 5 the control zone of the supporting model is marked. IF the model already in combat with the supported model would have been as close as possible to the spear supporter without touching it. Now the second attacker can be moved in the original position of the first attacker.
Great effort Ste. Vids like this really are helpful. Keep up the great work.
I'm completely new to this game and enjoying your content greatly! Thank you
+Rodney Bolman awesome news!!! Glad it helps!
Great to see more MESBG content guys! I've been playing stand fast incorrectly anyway!
+Robert Canavan Lol good man!
Great video! More vids like these would be awesome, how about ''top 5 overcosted heroes''. and undercosted too! Or top 5 troop killers, top 5 casters... loads of ideas!
+RosieJonesRules it’s like your a mind reader!!!!! Lol

Thanks buddy
I never realised that standfast one!
Great video btw
@@stephendevlin8512 Thanks Brah
I love this. Rules clarification always helps. Do more. Why not work through the whole book?
+Dean Chantler the plan is to continue our “how to play” series very soon ;)
Awesome middle earth content!
+Sil Boon thanks brother!!
Great video Steve! The rule I often see wrong is how to use shield wall(staying in shield wall after falling back), newer players more than likely find it quite confusing.
Cheers
+ben meldrum it is a confusing rule for sure!
@@TopTableGaming Yeah, it should be changed so it's from your position in the combat not when you back away. As it is it's very difficult to use and mostily not very effective except for shooting, Gleaming Horde is even worse in that regard...
The second rule is critical! The first game I played in the newer edition was with Isengard. I broke, Saruman needed to test, and I rolled snake eyes. I moved him off the table and lost a close game, but he's a Hero of Legend!
Hi Steve, maybe I missed it, but from where is that control zone markers?
What other markers are good for the game?
Were you also attending an event soon?
if you lose fight but not die you need to back away. But if there is an enemy model can you back away in the enemys control zone ?
Shooting and line of sight is a big one
as for backing away, it does NOT have to be directly backwards. you simply have to move an inch away. yes, that can still leave you within an inch of the enemy.
+Jason Alexander correct. As long as is a straight line
@@TopTableGaming yup yup! I forgot that part 😉 oops
*YOU'RE
Great idea. Retreat rule often ignored.
+Kili121416 there’s tons more, may do follow up videos
Jumping with foot and cavalary model on a top of hill and descending.
For rule 3, does los mean an actual line of sight. Or can you ‘see through’ you troops? Like if aragorn, had 5 WoMT in a line next to him, maby shield wall formation, can troop 5 ‘see’ aragorn for standfast?
Youd hav to get down to models eye view and see if he can see any part of aragorn, position aragorn correctly and you should be fine, leave an arm poking out in front and all should be able to see him ;)
@@TopTableGaming los drawn from the torso not arms, legs, weapons etc. sticking out
When arming models, if a model has heavy armor in their Wargear, is it already added to their defense?
It is.
Something that is confusing me a little. What about wrapping around when you enter an enemy's control zone?
Do you have to fight them at the point you enter the control zone?
Do you need that extra movement?
No, you have not to fight the enemy model where you enter the control zone. But the move around an enemy model has to be part of your own movement range. When you barely reach the enemy model with your movement range, then you may not wrap around.
Is stand fast only allowed when broken or can it be used when charging an enemy group with terror? Thanks 👍🏼
No, it’s only for broken tests.
Do this for all the rules to sort out some of the mistakes people make 😜
Where do you get that controll zone wedge?
Had them made buddy, they were freebied at one of my events
@@TopTableGaming Already talked with frozenforge to make the same type of wedge(such a great idea), in diffrent sizes, it will be 1/2, 1/3 and alot more tools for SBG in a tray laser cut. He will also make steppers and other stuff that is nice to have .
awesome stuff. Let me know how they turn out
Does rule 3 apply to battlefield wide stand fasts like thrain?
+Eric Ackerman is have to assume so
@@TopTableGaming bummer
Middle Earth SBG doesn't use codexes right? So where do you find the army rules?
There’s a rulebook and 2 army books. Following from them are supplements, but it needed to play the game unless you really wNt them
typo in the title!
#4 didn't make sense to me
It's just saying if you have to move all your models on from the same point and each moves their full movement, if you measure it accurately you'll end up with a semi circle not a straight line
Can you briefly explain what prone is? Through your videos and others I have a basic understanding of the rules. Thanks so much for that. I'm having trouble getting what prone means. Thanks again for all you content!!
