I can’t tell you how useful this is for me as a beginner. I’ve picked up Pelennor Fields but the rules seemed quite intimidating until I watched your videos. Now I just need to find some opponents!
@@snieves4 Really not much. You have a variety of new heroic actions and the weapons are more versatile. The best improvement is using heroic strike to increase Your fight value. Earlier a model with a high fight value always had the upper hand, nothing You could do. The deployment is a bit difference. Now You deploy in warbands. Each warband need a captain or hero and can have number of followers after his tier. I absolutely love this video. I have been reading through the rules, but this helps me "see" what happens in a game. Usually I need to play through a game to get the basics before I understand the other rules.
Hi I just got the Battle for Osgiliath boxed set and this has been super helpful. I watched a lot of other videos even gameplay videos but this was the clearest explanation with example that I’ve seen so far. Appreciate it
I love this game too I played it a bit years ago. Now I’ve got the new rules and armies book so I’m keen to start collecting again. I quite like the idea of battle companies or nice small scale narrative scenarios.
Thanks for this ! I'll be forwarding this to all my friends who I constantly tell that this is the best game that GW makes !! Can't wait for the next episode.
If there are multiple models in combat say theoden with 2 orcs and the witch king. But the witch is in combat with theoden and 2 riders of rohan. How do you determine how these fight go off?
The basic rules feel so familiar being a 40k player. I particularly enjoyed the clear and unrushed dialog and look forward to watching more in the future. Great looking setup btw :>)
+Chapter Master Valrak thanks man! Glad they help!!! There’s no better lesson than rolling some dice, so if you ever fancy a game get in touch ;) I’ve watched your vids as I am trying to find my way around 40k!
@@TopTableGaming When you free, mate? I actually joined a Middle Earth Facebook group looking for someone to help me play, do you have discord or anything? I have my email on my about me page on YT if you want to send me a mail and we can talk more :)
Great mate, just what's needed out there a up to date walk through, great job as always 👍👍cavalry, prone, and trapped attacking will be a interesting one 😎😎
I've just got into ME SBG and have a question which I hope someone will see. Does fight value come into play any time other than a drawn duel roll? I can't see any other reference to it in the rules but given the emphasis people seem to put on it I feel like I must be missing something?
Great video, really helps me as rules are fairly intimidating at first. Could you just clarify that in a multiple combat do you use all the attacks? Say troll with 3 attack so 3 dice against 3 men so 3 dice for them also?
Excellent video. I'm just now building a collection with my first purchase being Boromir, Captain of the White Tower. I fully intend on getting the manual, but this was a fantastic ice breaker, cheers!
Enjoyed that, thanks, I’m playing my first game with some old workmates tomorrow. Will be using their minis etc. Have the rules changed much since you made this? Is there a newer rule book in the new osgilliath set?
Hi Tim. This was made not long after the introduction of the current rulebook, and other than a feq changed to more intricate parts of the rules, you’ll be fine with this. The rulebook in the new set is the same rules but with the updated faq rulings in it. You won’t need to worry yourself with those at this stage.
It might happen that I swing by the local store tomorrow and if I do, it might happen that a Pelennor box might come with me home...Might happen because of TTGs videos :D
Sick tattoo man! Also I am on the precipice with this game. I want to jump in, it’s just so expensive. I’ll get there one day! I LOVE table top war games!
Top Table Gaming I love Gondor but would honestly been into just about anything. Wasn’t sure if there was a starter set that you would need to have like Star Wars legion or similar games. Thanks for the videos man! Appreciate simplifying everything!
Question: If a model looses a fight but doesnt die and therefore backs away an inch, is it free to move where ever it wants next time, or because its within an inch, he will have to charge that model again.
Must admit the charge mechanic takes some getting use too. Im so use to playing Warhammer and usually when yoy charge its double your movement speed usually. On here its not
@@TopTableGaming one more question (sorry) but thank for answering. Control Zones. Does this mean heros like Aragorn etc all have to stay an inch apart from each other or doesn't that matter? Also (ok maybe 2 questions then lol) say if a model charges a target but ends in base contact of 2. Does this mean i have to pick which of those 2 i attack or do i get to attack both? Reason why im askimg is because at 1 stage you seperated some models for 1v1 so i got slightly confused. Thank you 😁
QUESTION !! Lets say I want to play mordor. Is the rule book you get from the Battle of Pelennor fields starter set enough or do I need a race specific rule book like before ?
+GreenskinHolland hi buddy! “Armies of Lord of the Rings” is the book you need!!! And basically every turn you roll off. The winner goes first in every phase!
+Jack Remmert not sure what your asking jack? Is it something I reference to in the video? It was a while ago I filmed it but if you get me a time stamp I’ll explain for you no problem
@@TopTableGaming Apologies, it was not specific in the video. I was just looking for an answer. Hoping a seasoned professional like yourself could help out or point me in the right direction.
Jack Remmert ah Ok So a str4 hit is when a model with “str4” on their stat line strikes another model. Or a model may take a “str4” hit from a crossbow or something like that. You’d then compare on the “wound chart” a “str4” hit, against the def value of the character being hit and roll to see if it causes damage.
I've collected 40K stuff for a few years, would love to collect Middle Earth but the models are smaller than the 40K ones and I'm not the best at painting :(
Dude, don’t let that put you off. The models are a tiny bit smaller, but there are also bigger models, trolls, fell beasts, brown, eagles. Check out some of my painting tutorials also for tips. It’s an amazing game system
Why is there a ranged fight value on models that do not have ranged attacks?(such as the Uruk-hai Beserker) thanks for making this great video it’s really informational and a lot quicker than reading the rules to new players
+Richard Beach all models have a ranged attack value, not sure why, can only assume it’s something to do with the formula they use to create and cost the profiles.
+Gavin Drake awesome! Smaug is an amazing model! Hobbit armies are a ton of fun, with all the options in heroes that give different little bonus’ to your army! Maybe there will be a video on hobbit heroes soon ;)
The Hobbits have had these stats for years, they’re not new 😉 Hobbits also only have a short bow so a range of 18’’ compared to Gondor’s 24’’. Warriors of Gondor also have a defence of 5 base, so strength 2 bows would need 6 to wound whereas a hobbit at defence 3 would be wounded on 5s. Warriors of Minas Tirith also have a higher fight value and access to shields and spears and the shieldwall rule if they’re armed with a shield. It’s not as simple as just looking at a single stat value 😉 - TTG Ben
