A very smart piece of work to a Chain couplings for all roll stocks cars coaches break vans steam engines and diesel engines locomotives and everything I like this one a great radio remote control train of Thomas and Friends HO OO Bachmann Hornby and everything of pulling and pushing cars on rails and everything work like a charm. Very well done my friend.
Love seeing new videos from you James! I’ll have to come back to this video when I get some chain-links in the mail, very helpful and informative. Can’t wait to see what’s next from you! ❤
As an alternative, you might want to consider Sprat & Winkle-type couplers. They give a screw link look, but still allow automatic coupling. And can also magnetically uncouple.
1. I personally consider it better to remove the tension-lock couplers non-destructively where possible, just in case. 2. As someone who made the same mistake when I tried my own hand at installing screw links on a couple models ages ago, I take issue with your installation instructions. The hooks should _only_ be truncated and glued _if_ they outright don't fit with their tails intact. The purpose of the tail is to hold a spring and a retainer pin for said spring, to basically act as an expansion joint to help with cornering.
The only bad part is the bachmann buffers on the rolling stock mainly the trucks is so small that they will get caught up with each other when backing around a curve and derail.
Loved the vid! Will definietly considering doing this down the line when I have more experience! Quick question, do you know what black was used for your Thomas model?
Well I work in a gauge so I use Diapet Thomas models I am making an Edward out of a James as we speak and I managed to drop my Thomas of the set breaking it but fixed him but can’t get the cab fully smooth again oh I motorise my rolling stock and I do it for the tenders to for the tank engines however I just use string I bace them if there cgi renders but make the sets like season 1 abs I use chain links from Bachman they work alright but may try this method … it worked thanks for the advice on the wagons like Annie and clarabel but where do you get some chains big enough to fit round the Bachman uk Rai he dummy hooks I cant find any
@@MaxwellTheTrainFan you probably won’t be able to find any that are for the size of the Bachmann hooks! But you could always use metal links from key chains for those!
It can be tedious. However, I went to a model show a few moths ago and some people there had build little sticks with hooks to make it easier to connect trains. Something I am thinking of attempting!
If these chains are made from a magnetic type of metal, you can also use a small screwdriver with a magnetic tip and attach it to the furthest chain link and then couple them up like that, then just pull slightly down below the hooks so the coupling stays attached and allows you to pull the screwdriver away.
Well it does but it's more accurate to how steam engines look. Which is why a lot of modelers' choose this method. With this method you have to couple and uncouple your wagons manually.
Need these type of screw links for engines! Already have it on my Thomas! Can do a video in future if you need help! www.gaugemasterretail.com/wt-lp5a.html
@@thomasthetankman111 thank you so much I dont think a future video would be necessary but for other people your should maybe put this in the description.
Would you like to use my Thomas tale that I got in the process? The tale is The Old Day Goods Train l can give you the script so you can use it for your film as long as you ask me permission first.
Always great to see new footage from you. I know I’d have definitely wanted a video like this when I was getting started!
Cheers Caleb! Glad you enjoyed!
Caleb, oh Caleb. Post new videos Caleb. I would hate to unsubscribe Caleb. I would sure hate to.

I've used this method before. Certainly makes a huge difference to your model railway.
Indeed! Cheers for watching Dom!
Great video!! Amazing how it looks just like in the original show! - Ryan
Outstanding this will be most helpful when I start updating my rolling stock 😃👍
Nice one deffo helpful!

Excellent masterpiece work of art of everything
I wish Bachmann would give Clarabel a guard compartment where her face is so that she’s more in line with her television series counterpart.
I have started using these couplings on my Thomas trains. And I do believe they are much more cool looking.
Great stuff! They are indeed!

I have had no issues so far. Having the hook extend a little bit out can help this issue!
Im planning on doing this with my future bachmann thomas and friends items for my future model railway channel
Nice video! 👍 pretty good.
Thanks!
Nice One My Friend

Great!

Great tutorial! I will use this method, where did you get the faces for Thomas?
The faces are 3D printed files by Rexacutions! I believe they are for sale on shape ways!
Have you ever thought of getting the Bachmann Troublesome Trucks #1 to 6?
Probably won't as I have so many normal trucks and they're on the expesnive side!
How cool . Them 3 links seem amazing will try it
Nice one look forward to seeing results

What specific parts are you curious as to how I do it?

can you make a bachmann thomas smoke generator installation tutorial?
how hard it is to couple the trucks/coaches to the locomotives i can just imagine me taking an hour coupling up a long goods train

With engines, do you have to take the running board off to apply the screw link coupling?
You can do it whilst there together! Either way works!
I live in the US yet can't find it in the regions tab do you have any advice
won’t that make them harder to couple up to engines?
