Those things that are protruding out the running board are frame extensions, they strengthen the front and are parts of the frames/chassis. They are vital to an engine working properly and in James' case, rather strong, considering how many times he has derailed, or somehow damaged himself.
All that’s left is to make is the thoroughbred, old Iron, and a garden shed and you have the main cast. Phenomenal work, the splendid red mogul looks stellar. keep up the great work and I can’t wait to see what comes next.
It will be one of two characters. Both appear in all 3 forms of the franchise. RWS,TVS and CGI series. I never really go an make CGI only characters. More a fan of the RWS and Series 1-7 of the TVS.@@calebc.2290

Personally, James is my favorite steam engine character in the railway franchise. Looking at the wonderful production process, it's reproduced just like it was in the model series, so it's good to bring back memories of my childhood.
fantastic work mate! splendid you might say! if I'd known you needed a James chassis, i have one essentially brand new and unused in a drawer I'd have happily sent ya but glad you got a replacement sorted =)
I’ve seen people’s stunning models like yours and this is great! My question is that often with people’s models I notice how different the buffers are, are they separate accessories? If so where can I get them?
James is the character I want to make as soon as I get a 3d printer and all the models that are being made is a huge inspiration to me and yours stand out they are just amazing I don't know how you do it! And where did you get the faces are they available to buy?
Thank you very much! Glad you enjoyed. I have only in the past year got into custom modelling. Just take patience and time. The face can be purchased from Rexecutions shape ways show 'Rex's funky face shop' or you can DM Thomastankmerch on twitter to purchase them!
Yep my Bachmann Thomas when I got around to fixing it after 10 years the first thing replaced all the wiring with thicker wire Also did you paint your faces yourself?
@@thomasthetankman111 What do you use for the grey? I'm going for the series 1 look and the shade you've used looks just right. Or perhaps could you make a video on how you paint faces?
@@DangerAngelous For the grey I use Tamiya light grey primer. This is used for the running board and faces. I might do a video soon on how I paint the faces. I t's something I had been thinking about

The cutaways genuinely made me laugh-banger of a video, and James looks stellar! The struggle was worth it for sure, and 10k was a long time coming! 💯
Thank you Caleb! Much love!

This is very true. However, these three might not be the next engine made! You shall have to keep your eyes pealed :)
@@thomasthetankman111 interesting, can I ask what era this character might be from? for instance bear from the RWS or charlie from the nitrogen era?

Much appreciated my man! Alls well that ends well in the end!
Lovely model as usual, I believe those extensions in James's footplate are his frames, that's what I've been told once and it seems to make sense
It appears that is correct yes! Thank you!

My question is that often with people’s models I notice how different the buffers are, are they separate accessories? If so where can I get them?
Yes separate parts. I think the buffers are made by Jamos!
