    I had a similar depression after studying abroad. I spent three and a half months in Ecuador, fell in love, spent a week deep in the Amazon jungle, snorkeled the galapagos and partied every weekend. When I got back I realized how dull normal life is

    The only time I watched the Olympics were the Bejing Olympics, and that's only because a girl in my high school competed. She won a few bronze medals, and tbh I don't know what she's up to nowadays.
    The Olympics are all a big window for advertisers anyway.

    The culture has valued disability more than achievement for some time. If people are broken whether it be by trauma, a broken home, some immutable difference.. they're more susceptible to group think/identity instead of perceiving themselves as an individual. It's all by design.

    That's a great point about mental illness. Some people really advocate for it but it's usually specific. Depression and anxiety is all that's talked about. I think this also applies to Asperger's. You always hear about the intelligent kind. You never really hear about the nonverbal ones who need constant care.
