Like a time machine for me. In the 60's my uncle loaned me one and it was my introduction to the world of radio. First SWL and then in to ham radio. Still sort of a magic sound.
My second SW reciever was the S-76 handed down to me when I was 16 in 1969. My first reciever being a Heathkit GR-64 I built a year earlier. Good specimens of the S-76 are near unobtanium or outside my budget today. But one of these days the stars will align and I will find the right deal. You have a real beauty there.
Great looking and sounding S-76. I have a collection of Hallicrafters I inherited that I need to restore. My S-76 looks like your second one you showed, knob wise.
Definitely not Hallicrafters finest moment. I love the look of the meter but the performance is significantly poorer than just about any other model I have (I have a dozen including this). The radio in the video isn't "pristine"...it's had the knobs modified / changed for example.
