- International humanitarian law (IHL) limits suffering caused by war. The 1949 Geneva Conventions draws clear lines between those who are fighting in wars and those who are not. They continue to address the challenges people face as a result of modern warfare.
This video lays out the foundation of the Geneva Conventions.

Get van convection is boring I like to do it daily
Nice to see we actually have these rules, even though nobody follows them in war
Most Western Countries at least try to adapt policies that abide by them… whether or not they are followed is another story.
Russia, Iran, and China go out of their way to shit on them and try and create a new world order so they are not even bothered by such standards.
@@ronaldayoub hamas kidnapping people and holding them hostages and flying in on paraglides and gunning down innocent people at a music festival is following Geneva convention?

Infantry: If we're surrendering, we can wave a white flag to signal it.
Tank crews: We turn our turrets away form enemy lines while advancing towards it to signal a surrender.
Ships: We can lower our colours from the mast to signal a surrender, since having it up is required to attack.

Nice rules. Shame they dont work at all, but still.
Ukrainians kill Russian prisoners of war ua-cam.com/video/vl3cMLFzUyw/v-deo.html
Even though it doesn't work 100% of the times this rules are very important because as nations we should have aspirations to be less brutal in wars because we know that wars cannot be 100% prevented and I'm sure thousands of lives has been saved by these laws.
@@venomancer5736 It's not nations who to to war. It's governments who do that, and they are filled by psychopaths and maniacs who couldn't give a shit about them rules even if they wanted to. NO amount of us saying "hmm, yes, when insecure propaganda pumped degenerates are sent off to kil innocent people they should be careful to not hurt them too much", will ever do any good. Whatever few people were saved, were saved by individual strenght of morality within someone somewhere. Not rules that were made knowing no one will follow them.
@@venomancer5736 The point is not to completely nullify atrocities but to keep human suffering as low as possible.

For all the people saying that nobody follows the Geneva Convention, countries tend to uphold these rules because they need international support. Other countries will impose harsh economic sanctions or embargos on the country that breaks these laws and the other belligerent may be sent aid. Also, treating the enemy troops well will make the enemy more likely to treat your own troops better.
"POW must be humanily and notably never murdered or torture"

The Geneva Conventions were created in 1949 as a consequence for that.

Boxes are Exempt...Right...RIGHT...
Imo im sure both participants in-war will do everyhing to win.. so this rules might be ignored
Never be murdered or tortured… say that again 🌹🌹🌹
I find these laws hypocritical because these laws applies to only state actors like a standing army of a country whereas non state actors like terrorists and insurgents are not expected to follow these rules. This gives those people an unfair advantage which makes them able to produce more tangible success on the battlefield than a standing military organization. It's like a boxing match where one person is expected to follow all the rules and regulations whereas the other is free to break all the rules and regulations. That's why states employ, train and fund non state actors to achieve their objectives against another state because they don't have to follow these rules.
United States and you guessed it ISRAHELL are non state actors!!! They literally are given a choice of whether or not they want to be held accountable. It's so flawed it's basically a nonexistent set of rules.
No country should be given a waiver from the Geneva Conventions!
