halofreak1990 to be fair characters like Regis and Ardyn are probably the only 1's from the movies who stayed the same. And I don't think Seam Bean had the time to voice act for the game considering how busy he is.
I agree. That’s not how you do an RPG. Now, it won’t ever be finished. You’d have to pay extra for a novel of the cut story beats. No thanks! That defeats the purpose of it being a game. I don’t care if it makes the story better. All that stuff should’ve been in the game. Period. SE already got enough money from me for this trainwreck. They’re not getting another cent for it.
This why certain games get censored in japan specially when their historic about ww2 japan. Till this day mist japanese dont accept they were allies with nazis.
@@quattro4468 That isn't really accurate; go to Hiroshima. They have left the ruins of the military industrial promotion hall standing as a lingering lesson about their hubris and the mistakes they made. Visit that giant memorial in Hiroshima, which is frequently visited by Japanese people, and tell me they're hiding from anything.
Agreed, the original story where they had a mafia family for royalty, a religion that worshipped death deities and a love interest that was implied to be an antagonist and gave off Romeo and Juliet vibes really gripped me when I first saw the Versus trailer. Nomura even stated he wanted it to be a very dark Final Fantasy setting with a Cold War that pushed the M rating. I still keep dreaming of the game it could've been >
I really hope they learn from both FF 15 and 13 previously when making 16. I just want one complete game at release that doesn't need to rely on any extra mediums to tell its story or have endless sequels. Kind of like FF 8, 9, and 12. Btw as far as FF 15 is concerned, i'm pretty much done. I played it during its initial release back in 2016. Before the dlc or royal edition. I was not impressed by the combat, characters, or story at the time. Maybe its gotten better with the additions but from my standpoint, its time for Square to stop milking this game and work on Final Fantasy 16.
they didn't learn with FF14, either... The common factor is Square Enix. The dev teams and the directors all seem to be hardworking... They won't learn anytime soon...
I feel like if you put together the cinematic beauty, and story driven nature of Final Fantasy XIII and the open world gameplay and relateable characters of Final Fantasy XV, you'd have an extremely ideal Final Fantasy.
Are you kidding? Hell no. I specifically waited for it to come out on PC because i knew yall were only getting the base game aside from some dlc. These new dev tools were getting is going to crack the door wide open on FF 15. If you're done then by all means, bye, alot of us still have work to do on it now that the power will be in our own hands
FantasyFan And whats worse they depend on this concept as a legitimate excuse for us to just nod and accept. It just needs to be said: XV like the XIII trilogy is an utter failure of execution. Interesting premise but poorly executed with clearly no intention to learn from the mistakes. Instead they just plan to make a sequel. And like you im getting sick of this 'service' bullshit.
I think part of why FFXV is regarded as "incomplete" by many is that it feels like it's full of a lot of half-baked ideas that just never lived up to their potential. The story has an issue where it can't decide what it wants to be. It wants to be both a epic coming-of-age fantasy story and a roadtrip bromance story, but it doesn't do a very good job of weaving these two components together. And to top it off, as you said, it breaks up the narrative into so many different parts that for the average player who just wants to enjoy the game and move on may understandably be confused and/or disappointed. You don't NEED the movie, anime, or DLCs to understand the gist of the story, but it still feels like vital pieces are missing if you only play the main game Like understanding WHY Noct and his friends are the way they are, or getting to know integral characters who are shafted in the game like Regis, Luna, and Ravus. Even some of the lore dropped in Episode Ignis feels like stuff that should have been easily accessible in the main game. That kind of setup rewards very passionate fans but unfortunately feels kind of unfair to casual players.
The big problem with FFXV’s story that makes people feel like it’s incomplete is the lack of proper setup and payoff. For example, the setup is Luna and Noctis are to be married. They are adults who haven’t seen each other since they were kids. They don’t have much emotional connection but both seem amicable enough to not mind being married. The payoff to this is Noctis being absolutely heartbroken by her death (More heartbroken than when his father died, which is another problem of setup and payoff), as if she were a lover he hadn’t seen in a few months rather than a childhood kinda-friend he hadn’t seen in over a decade. The payoff to the setup is overblown. An example of good setup and payoff is Ignis, who goes throughout the game doing the most in trying to keep Noctis safe and showing how important it is to him that he can keep the prince safe. He’s the one who drives the car, who is the first to come to Noctis’ aid, who practically mother’s over the prince. This is why we felt much more sad that he had gone blind and is no longer able to do these things, than when Luna died. The setup and payoff in this game is all over the place. I haven’t played any of the DLC yet, but I really hope that is what they’re fixing, rather than just adding more story. If they could make a game with good setup and payoff and then flesh things out with DLC, I think it will be much more we’ll received.
wow. it's like you've been reading my mind. lol i thought noct and luna were just casual friends who just turned out to be getting married. But apparently they were lovers. Funny how Noct mourned for days for Luna but only one day for his Dad. And I was really saddened with what happened to Ignis while on Luna's death I was just like "oh she's dead? okay." tabata and the writers piss me off
Youre right but japanese also get super sensitive of ww2 japanese wsr crimes. In many historic games that paint japan as ally to nazis get such a hard time in publishing in japan. Or many just ignore it. The majority of people in japan will tell you they werent called acis of evil once upon a time. Also i kid you not the dude that passed the law of censoring genitals in japanese porn made it because ecposing men and women to the fact that foreigners had bigger weiners would be damaging to the psyche.
0:46 - It IS unfinished. Let me count the ways. First, you need supplementary material outside of the game itself to comprehend the storyline. Both Kingsglaive and Brotherhood are supplementary material that is required to understand what's going on during certain parts. Any story that requires supplementary material to comprehend is unfinished.
Second, many of the plotlines are just... missing from the game. We have a major falling out between Gladiolus and Noctis that seems like it's going to have some kind of long term plot significance, only for it to be dropped after the chapter ends and never mentioned again.
We also have numerous major antagonists that inexplicably die offscreen, such as Ravus, Lunafreya (who's death holds no real emotional effect, since we barely knew her), and even the Emperor himself, as well as Niflheim basically being eradicated offscreen too.
Third, the game starts out as an open world concept and just... becomes a hallway after Chapter 9 ends. Seriously, nothing beyond Chapter 9 can be explored outside of critical plot paths. It's obvious by how much work we see DID go into these parts that this wasn't the original plan.
Wanderbots said in the last FFXV video he did that the storyline was a lot like reading a book with half its chapters missing at random. I can't think of a more accurate description of the plot.
The Night Sky Prince I still love ya man but you are just incorrect on that jk 😂😂 but everyone has their guilty pleasures mine was the ff 8 story... nonsensical, badly written but I liked it for some reason lol 😂
The Night Sky Prince No I dont hate if im being honest some of its ideas are interesting, the one thing I cant get behind is the fact that they brought back sin. It would also be hypocritical of me to hate u for something like that sense I myself have enjoy things many others dont plus its a stupid reason to hate someone. Dont be ashamed of what u like, just felt tje need to inform that even talented people can mess up.
I consider myself a reasonably intelligent person. I can watch a David Lynch movie like Mulholland Drive or Lost Highway and follow the plot; I can watch Cloud Atlas and follow along just fine. I can read Joseph Conrad, James Joyce, Virginia Woolf, Thomas Pynchon, David Foster Wallace or William Faulkner and understand what is going on without difficulty. But I have no idea wtf the story was in FFXV. I mean, I understand certain aspects of what it, but there are some major things that are either missing, or require other media to fill in gaps. I even watched a video explaining the story, then replayed the game; my response was, "Okay I understand it slightly more now, but I still have a lot of questions that I should not have." It's not that it's written in a way that is complex and requires attention to understand. It is just badly told, with too much information either missing or buried. There's a difference between being subtle and being obtuse. I will say that I really enjoy the combat and gameplay elements. But the narrative is a mess.
Tabata happened, that's your answer. Edit: For those who don't know, Tabata changed more than half the story when he was switched out with Namura. He even went as far as to change Luna's look and role. The sad part is before the game came out people were defending him when he gets called out, I wonder where these ass kissers are now.
The problem with the story is that it is unoriginal. Noctis friends are typical Anime characters. The strong but kind guy, the calm nerd with glasses and the funny little cute guy. You have the exact same characters in mostly shoujo anime. And his friends purpose is mostly to care for Noctis. It is important but they talk and talk and talk only about how they have to become stronger for Noctis bla bla...if you have seen many shonen anime like One piece you know what I mean. And then you have a enemy without a explained backround story and the biggest problem: A unbelievable love story with a bland sterotype female character. There is no surprise, they story does not challenge the player on a mental level. FF15 is a collection of anime tropes. Its nice and I liked the game but its just nothing special.
I don't know man. Have you watched the movie and completed the DLCs? It might help your problem. It's like what the creator of this video is trying to say: that the experience of FFXV is amazing as a whole, so you can't really understand all the characters if you play the game solely... If you do ever try out the DLCs or watch the movie and the anime, then I think you'll correct your opinion on Ardyn "the enemy without (an) explained background" and the 'exact same characters in mostly shoujo anime'. Hope you'll have a good experience after watching/playing those. If not, I don't really think you get the point of this video at all...
Yes I have watched the anime, the movie and played all DLC. And it will not change my opinion. You can really see how SQ tried to make the characters more then a trope. By giving Gladio a book or by making Ignis a bit sassy. But its only half baked. Ardyns backroud is still not fully explained. We have a bit more now but they neede over a year for that. Like I said, the game is nice and I liked to play it. But it helds no real surprise, it never challenges the player or gives anything new (maybe Ignis going blind). Its just another jrpg. Its okay but it will not stay in the minds of the players.
I guess it technically has a start to finish story but the execution was so poor throughout that the logic and reasoning behind events isn't made clear. Stuff like Ardin and Ifrit, their backstory, should have been as central to the story as Sephiroth, Shinra, and the Cetra. Instead it isn't really revealed until way too deep into the story.
are you sure you remember FF7 correctly? because i just recently played through it a few times, i'm obsessed with all FFs. and i'm pretty sure the Cetra are only touched upon lightly storywise, just like jenova is only storywise touched upon lightly.
Belias Aerith practically introduces herself as a cetra. Jenova busts out of Shinra leaving a trail of blood. We know Shinra wants Aerith to get to the promised land and suck the planet dry of mako. The grand premise is all very clear from the start. Shit really only gets confusing when we get to Advent Children which, like FFXV relies heavily on details outside the film itself.
so? the whole plot why ifrit is there in the first place is completely told in FFXV maingame, too. maybe you haven't played it again. also, the whole story of the late king ardyn lucis caelum is also IN THE MAINGAME. maybe you should do your research if you think aerith saying ''i'm a cetra'' is enough information. FFXV has the same amount of information ingame.
Belias Well there's a difference between an exposition dump and weaving details into the events of the story. As I said you understand a lot about the cetra from Aerith escaping Shinra as well as the temple of the ancients. You get a more details via a flashback of Aerith's mom. Jenova encounters are all over the place to establish its significance. The stuff with Ifrit and Ardin come off as rushed and blandly presented in comparison. That said I am referring to the release version of XV without DLC or updates.
Belias no if you did the game right away before all the patch ifrit didnt make any sense like da hell he was there and guarding for ardyn. And the only explanation were the books talking about the gods and even that was not totaly clear about why ifrit was acting like that.
I bought FFXV Collectors Edition, and I could have never been more disappointed of it. I followed this game from the very beginning and i felt really betrayed. I don't want to compare it with Persona 5, but it feels like FFXV and SE got beaten by that game as it filled the hole that FFXV left on me. Honestly if they have continued the original story of Versus, and even its installment, I would have preferred that. The gameplay is okay (except the magic and summon mechanics) but I would have preferred it to have a better story since that what always matters to me for a Final Fantasy game. This is coming from playing FF6-FF9 and the infamous FFXIII.
Persona 5 is way better than this donkey turd. All the Persona games are better. You actually get to see the friendships form throughout the game in all of them. In XV they’re all friends already and you don’t get to see it unfold. You’d have to watch a mediocre anime to see that happen. Garbage storytelling. Imagine if in the better Final Fantasy games if they did something like have Tidus and Yuna’s romance build up happen off screen or if Aerith was just killed by Sephiroth but we never got to spend any time with her or if we had to pay extra to learn why Squall was so aloof and cold despite deep down being friendly and compassionate or we never got to actually explore the World Of Ruin and the apocalypse in VI happened during a time skip or we had to buy a DLC to learn about Seymour and why he became twisted rather than learning it in game. They wouldn’t be looked at fondly.
I blamed the higher-ups for all of this, they made Nomura work on other games when he was already working on verses 13 and scrapped what was already done just so they wanted a new new game on a new engine for the PS4
i bought the Deluxe Edition Day 1 when it came out and beat it. I was pissed that the game took an entire year in order to patch in character switching. I waited while getting other fantastic rpg's of last year such as Tales of Berseria, Horizon Zero Dawn & NieR:Automata. I intend to get Person 5 too, but still i wait and lost interest in further playing this game after i beat it. Then December last year it was finally implemented that character switching was patched in. Sry Squeenix, but too little too late. You should have put in character switching from the get go.
Ochinpo it is actually. And a great one too.. But honestly if people want to completely forget about the tragedy of FFXV’s release just play NieR and Persona 5. Easily climbed to my top 3 games of all time next to Witcher 3
Ochinpo oh believe me when I say I’m much more emotionally attached to the cast of P4 and highly prefer the way we summon Personas in P3 (So cool) My point is if OP wants to jump in a modern day classic that’s still fresh in everyone’s library of must-play games I’d say P5 is well worth a shot P.S I’m extremely excited for this year’s E3 after that datamine of Iwatodai Dorm being available in P5’s files..there’s a chance Atlus might actually have a remake in the works
A lot better experience doesn't mean shit when the game had so much potential behind it, only to be wasted. Yeah you are right i rushed in and bought the game day 1 and have myself to blame for that. However i'm not the only gamer still pissed at Square-Enix for this shit. I know plenty of people who feel like they got the shaft as we had high hopes for this game that maybe it might be astounding and everything we hoped it'd be like in the E3 2013 trailers but alas it was a letdown. The main story still hasn't been patched in because Hajime Tabata decided it's not necessary anymore and he said that back in February of this year. What a load of bullshit how is that acceptable when other jrpg's that are way better than FFXV such as NieR:Automata, Tales of Berseria, and Persona 5 did things far better in every single way. The story of these other games is complete from start to finish, the battle system isn't a mishmash of crap, and we get character switching from the get go. I don't know about you but that's a major pet peeve of mine especially when other rpg's allow you to try out other characters in your party, and Final Fantasy XV took a fucking year to add this in. That was bullshit from Square that those of us who bought the game got the fucking shaft, and ya know what i have every fucking right to state my opinion. Sure there are gonna be disagreements, but hey it's just an opinion. Personally i'll state that FFXV is a Million times better than FFXIII & it's two sequels nobody asked for in the first place. I admit you are right, however it doesn't change the fact being that i'm not alone on this as millions of other people who bought this game day 1 & beat it felt a major sense of dissapointment. I personally don't give a flying fuck that they added more into the game when the battle system still sucks, and they still continue to milk the fuck out of this game when many people want them to move on and make FFXVI. I'm not alone here when i state that Squeenix has alienated their day 1 buyers, and for the many like myself who beat the game shortly after release it's too late in our eyes to go back when other rpg's offer so much more in so many better ways. As it is i'm pretty much done with Square-Enix and the fact they juggle too many franchises in the franchises basket regularly. I'm also beyond sick and fucking tired of Square deciding hey lets announce this new game you guys want but in reality we just started development and want you guys to know anyway. Really Square how is that acceptable, and as it is the only Square Enix game i'm stoked for is Kingdom Hearts III because at least Disney being the collaborator with Squeenix is gonna make sure they don't fuck around and get shit done or so i've heard. Personally i'd suggest going with NieR:Automata as that game has a far better battle system, and while it does have multiple endings the more you unlock the more the story starts to make sense overall. You can't say that for FFXV when its original story is a clusterfuck mess that never finished.
Anybody think that the original story with the Goddess of Death stuff would have saved the game or just made it different? I hate how they had to change the story just for a few regions and to keep a worldwide launch, but it also sounds just like surface level stuff
FFXV was a horribly inconsistent jumble of half baked ideas that really don't connect to each other. Also, I disagree, the Ending is one of the worst in a Final Fantasy I've ever seen. Bahamut: Roll over and Die Noctis.... it is your Destiny! Noctis: I don't know... let me think about it - After 2 years of 'self searching' in a Crystal - Noctis: Aight bro, I'ma kill myself cuz you said so. Shittiest FF ending EVER!
Erick Morris It is a badly written ending, like they couldn’t come up with anything better.... Like how about we defy the gods like in all other Final Fantasies?
@Orga777 X's ending was a plot twist that made WAY much more sense than this one, even if it was sad, it served as the closing point of a rounded perrfect story.
This is one of those times im genuinely sad i will never get to expierence that original story. Like couldnt they just do it as a big dlc or something like i just want the real lore
yea 15's story was very badly put together, it wasn't in depth enough, gripping enough nor dark enough for the tone it was going for. Watching kingsglaive leaves you wanting/expecting a deep intriguing tale... but when you play the game its totally the opposite and leaves you feeling disjointed from thr overall experience.
I thought Stella was a L'Cie fated to die by Noctis, her future husband, or else Etro would awaken and plunder the world into darkness. Til Death Do Us Part
I've never disagreed so much with a single video. The mental gymnastics to justify their mistakes is incredible. 1. How is it ok for someone to have to watch an Anime and a movie to understand a game, that still doesn't make sense unless you buy the season pass? 2. Over a 100h? 50h are repetitive side quests that don't add anything, things that weren't acceptable in the last generation. 3. This game was in development for 10 years. And the justification for the poor story is on 3 inexperienced writers? Square is not an indie studio, that only has 3 writers on their payroll. It's clear that you loved the game and I disliked it, and that's ok. But let's be fair it this game wasn't called Final Fantasy it would be just a average, bland, action rpg with good visuals.
-4 male players only was a big let down for me, I would like to have at least 6-8 playable characters with 2-3 women. -If you start with an open world, all parts should be open, not just the first halve. -Summons most be t choice, not situationals. -The flying car needs and auto landing.
I get the decision of making it a party of 4 guys as they were focusing on the dynamic of brotherhood but the fact their friendship was never shown forming in some way in game made it seem like a trivial decision. There could’ve still been more good female characters encountered over the course of the game. The only one who came close was Aranea who’s barely in the game. Every other female character was just window dressing. The open world was worthless. It seems XV was going to be linear like XIII but SE saw the visceral reaction to that disaster and tossed in an open world segment at the beginning but didn’t do anything worthwhile with it and didn’t bother weaving it well into the second half which was basically about as linear as XIII. The summon system was definitely crap. As was the elemancy system rather than actual magic. It wasn’t even explained why there isn’t magic in Eos. VIII did actually explain why there wasn’t traditional magic. Only sorcesses could use it. Drawing in that game was actually preferable to doing it in XV and you could use a variety of spells. In XV you use magic grenedes which can inflict friendly damage. The flying car was crap. There were actually certain invisible barriers that you could crash into and cause a game over without realizing why. It also couldn’t go everywhere again because certain areas weren’t accessible and the game would turn the car around automatically which is bogus.
FFXV was a punch in the face, objectively, and should not be praised. It is a bad role model for video game producers. This game is so hated because it proves how little Square Enix cares about both us, long-time-fans/players/buyers, and it's own workers, seasoned ones too like Nojima. It scares to withstand how bluntly the video game industry is heading towards a profit-only (not profit-focused) direction. They deliberately put aside "story quality" in favor of esrb ratings. Let me reiterate: they deliberately chose not to invest time/resorces in something the buyers were looking for, good narratives, because they thought a Teen rate game would sell more (GTA anyone?). This, my friends, is your typical case of: higher ups are making decision based on their assumptions/convinctions, or simply something not tested enough. Sacrificing the whole plot (questionably the most important part of a FF game) in order to keet the game Teen Rated, in this case, was a terrible idea. So bad one could be fired for. But, of course, the boss of a company won't fire himself... As a marketing strategist I know how budgets and incomes are crucial to anything, believe me, but for the same reason I know how "customer care" is a key factor too. A basic concept one can study since high school. I made calcs for this situation with friends at work the last year , we esteemed this decision killed the number of copies sold by an outstanding 60%, maybe 65 or 55 I don't remember anymore... either way it doesn't matter because we were lowballing the numbers. Yup, a tragedy ;) I hope SE higher ups learned their lesson, otherwise, future FFs are in trouble. Want to know what the precious lesson is? To stfu and let the pros do what they're being paid for. Spoiler alert: seasoned higher ups rarely accept to learn something ;)
I was pretty much done with the game when the royal edition came out. Till then I bought Episode Gladiolus and Prompto and when Comrades was coming out, I bought the season pass as you needed that to play the multiplayer. The multiplayer expansion was extremely underwhelming and grindy. When Royal edition came out and I needed to pay to get it, I understood that ffxv was just a money milking machine and Square Enix had no shame for releasing an unfinished game. I have lost my respect for Square Enix. The latest Dissidia game they released was lack luster in terms of content and I guess they purposefully left out some iconic characters to release then as dlc content later on. Like is this EA?
Akiin Moonlight ff7r is going to be a cash grab just like ff15 and you will have to pay over 200$ in order to experience the full game! i will not get ff7r day one i will wait for the 60$ super duper complete bullshit edition that will include every episodes/dlc. it not like there is nothing else to play.
" _FFXV had a great set-up_ " SO TRUE! It had potential. It's my favourite Final Fantasy, BEST soundtrack, favourite story and best looking, but come on... You only get one first impression. I'm *excited* for 2019 DLC, and at this point I'm in it for BD2 and Tabata ONLY. After this I'm _never_ ever gonna be buying a square enix game Day one!
dude that last scene when they were having that bro moment, AMAZING. Imagine how impactful it would have been if the story was coherent and flowed better.
So, world wide release was more important to them than the.. STORY?! Well done FF team. They sure fucked up there. And after 15+ tries, i don't think they can really make a comeback anymore. Especially if trivial stuff like, ya know, THE STORY OF THE GAME isn't as important to them as simultaneous world wide release. Man i'm just disappointed...
1:02 - Yes, and I've also seen anime that had strong starts and storylines that appeared to be cohesive at first, and then toward the end of the series, plotlines got rushed to conclusion. What happened with FFXV is not a unique occurrence. But it doesn't make it any less frustrating.
I'm done with XV... I didn't have a good time with it and hoped that they would fix the story. They didn't IMO. I'm most likely done with square at this point.
@@davidamajako961 I'm fine so far. I'm not as salty as I was about XV. But I'm gonna wait past the honeymoon to see if VIIr still has a positive reception. I'm done with day 1 for sure tho.
Three years was more than enough time to give the player things worth doing and the tools to do them well. But the dungeons (the only good parts of the game) are completely ruined by the games combat. The camera is out to get you and the frame rate drops often.
I have a love-hate relationship with this game... It was my first game on my ps4 and one of the main reasons why I bought the console. In my first playthrough I found nothing wrong, I was in love with the characters, with the ending, cried myself to sleep after the credits. But then I started digging and searching, and found all the ideas that were scrapped from FFvs13. I've played the game like four times now, and I keep telling myself, "it's incomplete". Only now with the Royal Edition can I say that the game is complete, I don't think we actually need a season 2 of episodes (and in that case, I think we only need one for Ardyn. Luna is already a lost cause and I doubt her episode will make me change my mind). The other day I was playing all the new content in Insomnia and was astounded as to how WELL it fitted, as if it was meant to be there since the beginning. It had a sense of closure the game was needing. And along the episodes for each bro... I think NOW is a complete game. A shame they didn't give Tabata the time he needed - he's a great director (FFtype-0 is one of the best FF's I've played), but he'll be remembered as the man who ruined FFXV.
7:43 Did your friend get up to Pitioss? I have a friend like that too... most of the people who played FFXV didn't get to the secret dungeon, they just gave up after the first playthrough, no DLCs....
What's so good about pitios? All I remember getting from it was a equipment that gave me some mana regen. Which is completely useless anyway because Noctis might as well have infinite mana. Very rewarding for a 2-hour dungeon, eh?
Scratch that, the reward you get from pitioss is the black hood. Which lets you automatically dodge attacks... Which is also useless because you could just hold square XD What great game design >_
I don't know An anime being incomplete or a TV is different than a mediocre video game. Good is subjective but 15 wasn't good, it was incomplete and incomprehensible to the point they admitted it and added the DLCS and the royal edition. But they flubbed up, cause they fixed the issues but cranked up the price to insane numbers. Not to mention the supplementary material in the movie and anime should be in the game. If you wont shame them I will. For petes sake the best part is Hajime Tabata (the director) saying the story was meant to be incomprehensible "on purpose" because the story is from Noct's POV which is airresponsible take for him watching a movie and wanting to completely transform the game. His childish way of taking criticism and brushing off the crunch he put people through made this game fail,FF15 isn't worth anyone's money; and I only hope FF16 learns from the mistakes and is vastly better than what 15 wasn'tod, I hope it's vastly better than this game we got.
I disagree with your video, Hajime Tabata is certainly to be blamed for the game and story telling. Hajime Tabata has been involved with FFXV since 2012 or early 2013 and became the lead director in late 2013. He had plenty of time to learn the story, know what was working on the game and what wasn't. When he became the lead director and decided to reboot the game with new story, Tabata brought the inexperienced staff to FFXV, I don't think SE would force Tabata to take the inexperienced staff to make the game. BD2 released 2 demos, 1 movie, anime series, and a mobile game, I know BD2 didn't make the movie, anime series and mobile game, these were done by other teams within SE or outsourced but Tabata and his inexperienced staff were involved which did take the time from keeping the game in check. Tabata wasn't given the reigns of the game in 2015 and asked by SE to get this game released in 2016, he was given the reigns of this game in 2013 and had 3+ years to make and get this game released in 2016. FFXV's failure in story telling rests squarely on Tabata.
Except XV is objectively better than any game Nomura has ever put out and the staff on XV are not any more inexperience than the staff making any other games at SE right now.
Mahesa Rangga just an advise don't buy FF7 Remake day one unless you want to pay 200$ to experience the full game. just wait for there 60$ complete edition that will include every dlc/episodes. that will make all the fan that bough the game day one feel like they got fucked... again..
Mahesa Rangga They also said that didn't get get far enough anyways. They didn't like the way Cyberconnect2 was handling the game so they scrapped all their work and started doing it themselves
I dont know if im alone, but even after the movie and the short anime, i have no feeling for our 3 friends....maybe with the dlc we begin to know them more...but in the main game i just know so little about them that i did not care... and im against paying content that should have been included to fully love the game.
They give no set up to key characters and villains. They make feel like we know people for most of the game when we've just meet then. No time to know anyone we're just told that we do In-game but not from the players perspective. I kinda wish the story was more passed like FFXII.
I really really do wish that they would make a full movie of this story. Bro, I am not a huge fan of FF but this one is just something. It hits a lot within my heart. The story is kinda dark in my opinion but that what makes a story a good story. I really do wish they at least make a full anime series of the entire story of this. I am so sure it will be a successful project. Nobody can't argue about how crazy the narrative in the story is
I played the original abysmal release. I did beat it but that was one the hardest things I've ever done, forcing myself to play a bad game to the end, think pulling my teeth with no novacaine would have been 100x more fun as bad as it sounds. After beating the game in done with it and feel the only place it deserves to be is right alongside the old E.T. game for Atari buried underground.
Stop with the added stuff later, and season pass shit. I have been playing alot of older rpgs and really appreciate how they got it right and delivered a complete experience out of the gate.
the removing of many FNC mythos, world of dreams, & time travel plots are a grave mistakes. Add to it with lacking details in world building that made it crucial especially for "open world" game. I am not impressed at all with side quests & its characters that involved with it. Meanwhile something like Witcher 3 or Nier Automata or HZD or DOS2 or even Skyrim gave us some of the best stories in side quests.
Depending on what they add to the ending I may finally buy and play 15 I really want to but not till they fix something. Trying not to say any spoilers.
The only time I was excited about this game was during their development time. I'm not only done with this game but also done with SE entirely, until they can create an FF at least in FFXIII's standard (and that is very low), I'm not buying any FF games (Tomb Raider I'm still okay, and KH3, I'm gonna buy it just because I've invested my time from KH1, but I also am prepared for the worst).
Daigu it was cool when it was a japan exclusive They made it because the NA branch added sephiroth and other secret bosses to the game. Final mix was a fuck you to the NA branch having a ton of extra content
Overall I think the underlying story is cool, even though I don't know the details about all the versus 13 debacle. The problem was ff 15 just decided not to tell its story at all really (the chocobros when they left, starscourge just shows up for two seconds in the narrative and it's off screen, the empire stuff offscreen, arydn how did he get his powers exactly, does he want to kill noct or get him to the crystal? What's the point in him messing with him then? Ardyn is literally invincible and op but they don't explain anything like he randomly shapeshifts sometimes like umm wtf ok? Luna who? What's the deal with the dogs and gentiana? And much more) main problem is they decided to just not tell any story at all in the main centre of the ff xv universe which is the game. From a customer perspective it's terrible to have no story in the main game but it tells some of its story through a movie and an anime and data logs (even literally everything from all the trailers that were already done and voice acted and stuff were cut for some reason) I mean come on! in a story focused jrpg series that's pretty pathetic just when we thought ff 13 story telling was bad because the lore was hidden behind datalogs in ff xv pretty much everything happens off screen so it's even worse than 13 when it comes to narrative. Just sad man... royal does fix some issues by filling in some of the story they decided not to tell but just why? At least I'm pretty sure the ff vii reimagining should be a complete story this time tho, whether the reimagining will be good tho who knows...
I agree, its a shame we have to play the blame game. Nomura's original team had many years to make a great game, but upon giving it to Tabata the AGE Rating became a bigger concern thus changing the game's appeal entirely...
Age rating became a big deal because it became a mainline FF. Tabata actually directed the first M rated (18+) Final Fantasy, which was Final Fantasy Type-0.
The Night Sky Prince ahhh I see. it had so much potential so sad to see how it turned out. I mean whether or not it was teen or mature it should've told a story at least regardless. Because now they have to pull an ea and make you buy back the main story over and over that was the saddest part for me, especially ardyn cus his personality was awesome but we don't know a damn thing about him...could've been one of the great villains along the lines of sephiroth, caius and kefka if he had his backstory shown and explained
Crabby Nick Gaming 13's does put some lore in game but I agree the datalog thing wasn't a good idea but at least you don't have to watch the anime and movie like 15 to understand it.
I liked the story up to Chapter 9. It's after chapter 9 where it bullet trains towards its ending. Without the DLC stories, it does not feel like a complete game. Square rushed out concept trailers for Versus XIII before there was even a solid foundation for its story and gameplay. If FFXV was just the first 8 chapters, it would have been a masterpiece. Here's hoping future games are not pushed out like FFXV was.
And paid DLC, nothing to do in the open world, holding 1 button always in combat, random summons, unrewarding side quest, plot holes. Can't forget those.
Ardyn was a great villain up until they tried to make him completely relatable. Ardyn was better off wanting revenge and having his own goal, not being used by Bahumut to fulfill his own fantasy.
tried so hard to like this game but it just didn't feel like a final fantasy game... all guys crew, excessive 4 guys following me around,... cindy with a horrible deep southern accent... just doesn't remind me of final fantasy. if not for the materia in this game, I would've not recognized this as a ff.
Visiting this video once more, I am sad that the executives did not choose the developers to create this story to be multi-disc project. I would have loved to play with Nyx, Regis then follow to the journey with Noctis and his friends. The multimedia project is okay, but I did not want to watch a movie, anime prologues or the optional audiobook to learn more of this unique game. I hope the directors and executives do not rush XVI for a deadline and allow the staff to finish the title.
I have to disagree with you here, even on your 'Objective' response about whether or not the game is complete. The story is not a video game's only aspect. Square ADMITTED it was incomplete when they aknowledged all of the issues, and added the patches to fix not just missing story beats (Which are still horrendous) but by adding in fundamental gameplay features, that should have been there since day one. A film can have a beginning, middle and end to its script.. but if 1/3 of it is only audio and missing the video component.. it's still not complete. (Unless it's some weird.. artistic choice, which.. FFXV being poorly designed is not a weird, artistic choice. No now that I've said it out loud they will likely steal that for a follow up interview with Tabata...) Speaking of Tabata.. when you take the role as director.. you are DIRECTING the project. You are the head of it, and thus you are responsible not just for your role, but for managing those under you. Is it unfair to blame Tabata for every issue? Perhaps. But he is the face of this project... anything done poorly by those beneath him, reflects on his poor judgement in hiring, or letting things slip through the cracks. It's no different than being a store manager, or a CEO. Anything crappy that comes out of your domain, still reflects poorly on you, whether you like it or not. That said, I still liked aspects of your video, found some of it quite informative in fact. Thanks for making it!
final fantasy xv was a discordant mess from start to finish. it's not the worst ff game, but it's probably the most incompetent. The story was half-arsed, but so was everything else. SQEX, you f***ed up, move onto ff16 and TRY to learn from your mistakes.
no, ff13 is flat out bad and poorly designed in most departments. FFXV had redeeming features that were squandered or cobbled together with half-baked concepts (the advancement system is more bare bones than the crystarium), a mediocre combat system and SQEX's inexperience with open world games really showed. 13 is the worse game of the two overall but at least it's a complete game. I don't know about 14 (either vanilla or ARR) as I don't play MMOs
Fuck no, FF13 had enough content cut out of it to make a whole other game according to Kitase, FF13 had no dungeons, FF13 had no towns, FF13 had no NPCs to talk to, FF13 had no minigames, FF13 had no exploration, FF13 was completely onrails piece of shit that didn't even have a complete story either, not once is it even explained who the Master is that they're talking about multiple times in the game, and the combat in 13 is braindead autobattle to win. FFXVs ascension grid is literally just a menu to unlock new skills with AP not padded to fuck forced lock out advancement system like FF10, you get new combat abilities that completely change how Noctis feels and reactions and moves like attack cancelling, tech rolls, airsteps, death drops, plus playing as the other characters by switching on the fly which not even FF13 lets you do.
I think people who didn't know the internal issues going at square-enix assumed that the game had plenty of time to work out everything. So when the bought the game day 1, they expected the game to be a fully fleshed out story not 30% of the game and that led to the disappointment. And people are also not used to JRPGs having more content added after they beat the main story.
They were adding content that takes place during the story. A proper DLC would be like an expansion from back in the good old days, which would take place after the main story. I was pissed when Gladiolus left the party and couldn't find out what happened to him unless I paid 10$. Fuck that.
*sigh* And I also hate how people try to defend Tabata and SE by saying that they only had 3 years to develop the game. It was clearly 10 years, people!
They should have stuck to the original story, just toned it down a bit for censorship reasons. But I guess they figured they would make more money this way, creating an incomplete game, selling it at the cost of a complete one, then charging for the DLC episodes and Kingsglaive BD to try and complete it. Overall this game is way too expensive for the content delivered. Kingsglaive was at least a good movie.
No wonder i hated 15... the writer behind it is the same behind 7 8 and 10. I like 7 but the story is bonkers. I hate 8. 10 made me stop playing FFs untill 2021 when i finished 15 while hating my life the 42 hours playing it.
Many still believe FFXV took 10 years to produce.... it took 3years max. 2015 trailer is just that.a trailer. Square hasn't even pinned down the battle system by then.
Well now since we have Ardyn and the upcoming Novella. we can finally say the game’s story is finished. It’s a real damn shame because the story WAS interesting, until you find out you have to purchase the rest of the story
I am a return player for this game. I almost never play a game again once I finish it with witcher 2, ffvii (old version not remake) and ffxv the only game which i played twice. I didn't like ffxv 2nd part, but i liked theme, ambience and music of the game so much that it didn't ruin the game for me. The story of ffxv felt complete yet incomplete. It was in bits and all over the place, yet the hard work done to sew it back together was wonderful too. They weren't able to sew some bits here and there but still it made me come back to enjoy it all over again. What you said, perfectly describes the game. I still hope for remake/ retelling of original game but i also know that my hope is vanity.
Why ban the game because of the goddess Ethro? Final Fantasy XIII went into the story about Ethro and was not ban? On top of this Type-0 was the first game with bloodshed besides FFVII advent movie. 《Japanese version》
I only played the base game at launch. After that I decided to wait until they are completely finished with milking this game then I will play the complete version.
Well I want to see Final Fantasy 15 succeed but I’ll get the definitive edition when this is all said and done I already have the kings glaive movie on Blu-ray
I wanted Versus XIII, I feel like FFXV is just a shell of what Versus XIII was supposed to be. Especially after hearing the dark tones of what Versus was supposed to be, the people worshiped Reapers? That sounds very interesting, also the fact that I wonder if we would have a totally other game that would have been FFXV and possibly FFXVI already or at least in the works if they would have just left Versus XIII as it was. I have not played FFXV and I am not sure I ever will, I really just want to know what FFXVI is going to be like and I hope that happens soon.
When the switch of producers came into effect. A red flag should have been seen because the gameplay and even story for FFXV went from being kickass and awesome now into an incomplete not to mention incoherent mess of a game. Look at the E3 2013 trailer it looked amazing and the idea of being able to fight your way out of Niflheim as you the character Noctis watch your father die would've made for a very intense start to FFXV. While Kazeshige Nojima is a great writer you're forgetting about Yoko Taro the guy who wrote the stories for Darkengard 1-3, Nier & Nier Automata. Heck even NieR:Automata has a far more detailed story than the mess we got that is Final Fantasy XV.
I am waiting for everything to be released and for the dust to settle to see what the and results will be before I commit to buying the finished product.
Got FFXV day one, saw the movie and the anime. Enjoyed the experience and story but it felt kinda half baked at points. Got season pass but never played any of it, I'll likely to back after final four episodes are out and royal edition content is picked up via a sale. The episodes NEED to be Intertwined into story though (option at points to play said episodes) for a more coherent experience and plot.
I was done ages ago I played it on release and finished it I also watched Kingsglaive and Brotherhood but didnt bother with any DLCs they should be needed imo especially not payed ones to finish a story. I got some enjoyment out of the game but overall thought the story was very weak and overall the game wasnt that strong in other departments such as gameplay either. Sure looked pretty tho.
I finished this game recently. I had this game way back 2017 and I lost interest when they kept coming out DLCS very long. But when I tried to pick it up again, if they had pursued with all the DLCs I think it would have been a complete game.
"how we define what a complete game is" Are you kidding me? If I HAVE to go outside the game to get the lore, parts of the story, or character motivations, IT'S 100% INCOMPLETE!
FFXV feels A LOT like xenogears cd 2, and for almost same reasons (story too heavy for worldwide release, square says "screw that, release as it is or dont release at ali")
I'm on the same boat as you. I'm looking forward to season two, and I can't pinpoint why I love this game so much, I just do. I am heavily against this game's DLC practices, but I bought the episodes and royal edition with no fear or regret, but excitement. I never do that, not even for my most favorite franchises. I was left disappointed on how the narrative left out so much context, but I'm excited to get more. There's no shred of buyer's remorse from me, nor do I feel like I'm in denial (like I was when I defended Skyward Sword). I guess FF15's potential resonates with me and I just can't get enough of this game's lore. I doubt this last set of DLC with satisfy what I want out of this game, but I would love if they expanded on this world more in spin-off games, sequels/prequels, or just use the world again for a mainline game sometime in the future, but this time, cut the part where they omnislash a robust enough story into tiny little pieces flying everywhere.
@@davejones9469 woah, I forgot about this rant haha. But looking back, 3 years later, it IS a much better game than people make it out to be and after playing it in 60fps, I am now campaigning for a remake of this game in the distant future. FF16 is looking absolutely nuts and FF15 deserves a second chance to be as fleshed out as these current games, now that square has a much better grasp on its combat in games.
@@StalfosBoy I didn't notice how old the post was, the vid just popped up in my feed and I don't usually check how old they are unless they're like 240p lol PS I think a simple remaster would probably do the trick, provided they finish the story proper. After all, their first remake so far (FF7) was the biggest disappointment in my history with the studio.
I like ff15 and how the Story is Telled in more dlcs and movie. ff15 is the best in my opinon. The Story is a lot better than ff8 or 10 . the spce Petting in ff8 was annoying and the macalania Woods Petting in ff10 . And most i like the ff15 comrades dlc its a bit dark Story and you can be the hero yourself.
I understood the story as much as i did the combat. I liked the graphics and adventure aspect of the game, but that's about it. Would've been better if the whole game was about exploring, going on different types of quests that build upon relationships and stuff, puzzles and allowing you to actually go to all the places on the maps. Then make the last quest of the game something satisfying like marrying that blonde princess girl or one of the other girls. It's a simple idea that would've been way better than it's crappy story.
Ravus and Luna looked so different in the movie and felt like totally different characters in the game.
RandomBlackGamer agreeed
The same goes for Regis. Should've kept the voice actors, too.
halofreak1990
to be fair characters like Regis and Ardyn are probably the only 1's from the movies who stayed the same. And I don't think Seam Bean had the time to voice act for the game considering how busy he is.
Most notable things I remember of Luna.
- dog is with her most of the time.
- Standing
- Bad guy enters stage right, shanks girl.
- Ded
RandomBlackGamer You mean Luna had a point of being there in the film. Whereas in the game she just turns up, says some dramatic shit and fucks off
Shouldn't have to look at other media to get the whole story. It should have all been in game
iezari garrard true
Meaning: the game is incomplete. Nsp won’t change his mind, he seems pretty stubborn.
I find it pathetic that some countries would be offended by games.
This why certain games get censored in japan specially when their historic about ww2 japan. Till this day mist japanese dont accept they were allies with nazis.
Man I fucking love this game idk why people dislike it
@@quattro4468 That isn't really accurate; go to Hiroshima. They have left the ruins of the military industrial promotion hall standing as a lingering lesson about their hubris and the mistakes they made. Visit that giant memorial in Hiroshima, which is frequently visited by Japanese people, and tell me they're hiding from anything.
The original versus 13 game honestly looked way more interesting.
True. FFXV sucks.
My god, this man speaks the truth, this isn't the game I wanted to buy -_-
I know how you all feel..i'm with you, they changed the most interesting part of the story(insomnia invasion) for a stupid film
There's always an invasion scene in every final fantasy game it seems. It's what makes the stories so hype!
Sailor Mercury well they fucked up 7 remake so theres that
Are you kidding? Hell no. I specifically waited for it to come out on PC because i knew yall were only getting the base game aside from some dlc. These new dev tools were getting is going to crack the door wide open on FF 15. If you're done then by all means, bye, alot of us still have work to do on it now that the power will be in our own hands
12 sucks tbh
JRPGs as a service. Sad. So sick of Square and their extremely long development cycles and weak stories.
Tell that to the dipshits who defend this game
FantasyFan Finally someone said it
Devon Montoya you'd have an easier time platting fog then getting sense from that flock of idiots.
At least they aren't making their own engines anymore. That will shorten the development cycles a lot.
It just seems like SE directors really struggle to pin down what is Final Fantasy and what should be its own, stand alone game
If they could make a game with good setup and payoff and then flesh things out with DLC, I think it will be much more we’ll received.
suadela87 ironic you say that when ignis dlc was damn near better than the whole game. An better than the other 2 dlc
Shawn Mitchell maybe someday I’ll play it, but I really don’t like DLC.
wow. it's like you've been reading my mind. lol
i thought noct and luna were just casual friends who just turned out to be getting married. But apparently they were lovers. Funny how Noct mourned for days for Luna but only one day for his Dad.
And I was really saddened with what happened to Ignis while on Luna's death I was just like "oh she's dead? okay."
tabata and the writers piss me off
FFXV worst FF imo. Especially when it's shoved down to my throat. Versus XIII is definitely a lot more interesting.
You ain't lying bro
You've never played 8 and 13 or 1,2,3
I wish people were not so sensitive about themes. For example, China gets super sensitive about death and skeletons. It's so stupid.
Exactly the type of thing that ruined stella from being in the game from the sensitive backlash
Dude not to burst your bubble on Nojima but he also wrote the ff10 novels and those where so bad that they where mistaken for fanfiction.
Christian Lopez hahaha true we try to forget the ff x audio drama as well lol let's not talk about that fanfic mess of a story 😂
Yall are gonna hate me but I loved the Audiodrama actually
Crabby Nick Gaming I can acknowledge ff8 flaws but I camt help but find that game charming for some reason, also it makes for a good portable game.
And the graphics were ps3 quality with just the modern ue4 light engine added to it. Some indy devs with less have made more modern games.
@@quattro4468 your talking about a game engine aspect... the person and the video is talking about the story/narrative aspect
6Kubik the most cliche final fantasy anime trope ever....
@@KHR0623
What do you think of Ardyn's DLC now that it's out?
Ochinpo
yes it is!
Ochinpo it is actually. And a great one too.. But honestly if people want to completely forget about the tragedy of FFXV’s release just play NieR and Persona 5.
Easily climbed to my top 3 games of all time next to Witcher 3
Ochinpo oh believe me when I say I’m much more emotionally attached to the cast of P4 and highly prefer the way we summon Personas in P3 (So cool)
My point is if OP wants to jump in a modern day classic that’s still fresh in everyone’s library of must-play games I’d say P5 is well worth a shot
P.S I’m extremely excited for this year’s E3 after that datamine of Iwatodai Dorm being available in P5’s files..there’s a chance Atlus might actually have a remake in the works
Even though Bandai Namco's Tales of Berseria isn't a top notch game it still is fantastic and often overlooked for a PS4 title.
Noctis: I don't know... let me think about it
- After 2 years of 'self searching' in a Crystal -
Noctis: Aight bro, I'ma kill myself cuz you said so.
Shittiest FF ending EVER!
10 years, and I wholeheartedly agree. Ending blows.
Watching kingsglaive leaves you wanting/expecting a deep intriguing tale... but when you play the game its totally the opposite and leaves you feeling disjointed from thr overall experience.
fact
agreed, I was willing to accept a darker toned final fantasy but it was way too peppy and upbeat for someone going to die.
@Orga777 bullshit
I thought Stella was a L'Cie fated to die by Noctis, her future husband, or else Etro would awaken and plunder the world into darkness.
Til Death Do Us Part
Stella WAS meant to be an unwilling antagonist. It wasn't changed until she was removed. The rumors are just rumors.
now that would have been interesting, a person fated to die at the hands of a loved one.
Paulo they had 3 years, they restarted development around 2014, and Square Enix gave Luminous Studio till 2016 to release the game.
3:16 Holy shit, that Reaper worship concept sounds pretty fucking awesome!
I was so dissapointed with this game that i bought the season pass from the begining and i still havent played the DLCs.
This is a year later, but same. Bought the season pass and couldn't bring myself to play it.
@@michaellindemann9153 They're pretty good however, you should play them
FFXV was a punch in the face, objectively, and should not be praised.
Yup, a tragedy ;)
I hope SE higher ups learned their lesson, otherwise, future FFs are in trouble.
Want to know what the precious lesson is? To stfu and let the pros do what they're being paid for.
Spoiler alert: seasoned higher ups rarely accept to learn something ;)
These are the same corporate scrubs that also thought Nier;Automata and Octopath Traveller wouldn't sell enough. Tells you much how much they know.
Did they literally draw names from a hat when assigning writers on this game???
The disjointed narrative burned me on it on it's initial release, and I don't see myself going back to it anytime soon.
bring back the golden age of FF games from FF9 and below
Anubisrunner08 they do
With the FF7R
10 was good too :\
ff 7 ff8 ff9 are crap in my opinion.

ff7r is going to be a cash grab just like ff15 and you will have to pay over 200$ in order to experience the full game! i will not get ff7r day one i will wait for the 60$ super duper complete bullshit edition that will include every episodes/dlc. it not like there is nothing else to play.
just play kh3 till its $ 20 hahaha
They need better writers in Square Enix. The stories of FF series are becoming a weird hodgepodge of JRPG tropes.
Ever since FFX I've been hearing excuses for why the story in FF games suck. I'm tired of excuses there is no defending this company anymore.
" _FFXV had a great set-up_ "
SO TRUE!
Me too fam :)
Well, for me ffxv has the best soundtrack because you can listen to all other ffs sounds in the car xD
Jonny Mario LMAO +1 that's cheeky of you
dude that last scene when they were having that bro moment, AMAZING. Imagine how impactful it would have been if the story was coherent and flowed better.
sooo true
So, world wide release was more important to them than the.. STORY?!
Well done FF team. They sure fucked up there. And after 15+ tries, i don't think they can really make a comeback anymore. Especially if trivial stuff like, ya know, THE STORY OF THE GAME isn't as important to them as simultaneous world wide release.
Man i'm just disappointed...
Yep. Time for their other IPs to shine such as Dragon Quest and Nier series.
Why thumbnail so thick tho....
i would have preferred the original story, personally XV is the worst main line game in the series i didn't enjoy the game
Worse than ffxiii I hope square enix remake ffxiii more open than the original
1:02 - Yes, and I've also seen anime that had strong starts and storylines that appeared to be cohesive at first, and then toward the end of the series, plotlines got rushed to conclusion. What happened with FFXV is not a unique occurrence. But it doesn't make it any less frustrating.
*cough* Darling in the Franxx *cough* .
I'm done with XV... I didn't have a good time with it and hoped that they would fix the story. They didn't IMO. I'm most likely done with square at this point.
Until you see a video of a new FF game and when you like it you play it.
@@davidamajako961 I'm fine so far. I'm not as salty as I was about XV. But I'm gonna wait past the honeymoon to see if VIIr still has a positive reception. I'm done with day 1 for sure tho.

I'm done with this game. Royal edition was the last straw. This entire thing just wasn't what I expected.
Same here. Something told me this game would surprise me while I was overly hyped for it. Boy was I right, just not in the way I hoped.
I just want a whimsical, unconvoluted, magical final fantasy like a next gen ff ix
Three years was more than enough time to give the player things worth doing and the tools to do them well.
But the dungeons (the only good parts of the game) are completely ruined by the games combat. The camera is out to get you and the frame rate drops often.
Middle! What middle?
Pitioss was just a headache and no story to it. So, he didn't miss much.
for you, maybe
What's so good about pitios? All I remember getting from it was a equipment that gave me some mana regen. Which is completely useless anyway because Noctis might as well have infinite mana. Very rewarding for a 2-hour dungeon, eh?
Scratch that, the reward you get from pitioss is the black hood. Which lets you automatically dodge attacks... Which is also useless because you could just hold square XD What great game design >_
in your opinion
I don't know An anime being incomplete or a TV is different than a mediocre video game.
Good is subjective but 15 wasn't good, it was incomplete and incomprehensible to the point they admitted it and
added the DLCS and the royal edition. But they flubbed up, cause they fixed the issues but cranked up the price to
insane numbers.

Nope, I'm done with XV since the Day One Edition so nope. I'm gonna wait for the 7 remake, hopefully they will remake 8 as well

just an advise don't buy FF7 Remake day one unless you want to pay 200$ to experience the full game. just wait for there 60$ complete edition that will include every dlc/episodes. that will make all the fan that bough the game day one feel like they got fucked... again..
I heard they start from the scratch again?
Mahesa Rangga They also said that didn't get get far enough anyways. They didn't like the way Cyberconnect2 was handling the game so they scrapped all their work and started doing it themselves
Nah I'm finish with 15 sadly square and the fanbase its not.
I dont know if im alone, but even after the movie and the short anime, i have no feeling for our 3 friends....maybe with the dlc we begin to know them more...but in the main game i just know so little about them that i did not care... and im against paying content that should have been included to fully love the game.
Gary Nadeau This game has the worst party in the entire series.
DarkHunter very very very VERY true
I was questioning why I was still playing by the time I made it to pitioss.
That's why FF15 felt like a hollow shell of a final fantasy
Depending on what they add to the ending I may finally buy and play 15 I really want to but not till they fix something. Trying not to say any spoilers.
don't buy it before 2019 DLC
yea that is what i'm waiting for :)
You're smart to be patient! thats admirable
Thank you but I just hope for an ending that I will like :)
gonna be waiting awhile until " Final Fantasy XV : _Uber Ultra Ultima We Swear This Is The Final Penultimate Complete Edition_ " is released.
Good luck.
What about kingdom hearts 3.72 final plus mix ultimate 15 version royal comrades mobile app unlinked special limited edition?
Devon Montoya Good god! I Remember being so disappointed when I found out about final mix for the first time...
Daigu it was cool when it was a japan exclusive
They made it because the NA branch added sephiroth and other secret bosses to the game.
Final mix was a fuck you to the NA branch having a ton of extra content
Devon Montoya Yea, but then they kept on doing them...
The Night Sky Prince type 0 was a masterpiece imo despite its flaws.
The game we needed was versus the game we got had no story plot or sense of direction.
Crow thicc tho
Love me some plot
@@TheNightSkyPrince I want the thicc crow image on the thumbnail for research purposes.
No now that I've said it out loud they will likely steal that for a follow up interview with Tabata...)
Speaking of Tabata.. when you take the role as director.. you are DIRECTING the project.
No, the most incompetent FF is FF13 and FF14. XV is god tier compared to those pieces of shit.
no, ff13 is flat out bad and poorly designed in most departments.
Bazztek I think you have that mixed up there bud. FF14 has its flaws but, it is in no way incompetent. Compared to 15 FF14 is God tier though ;P
The sad thing is you actually believe this.
Yea, I meant the game is now very different compared to when people beat the game a few weeks after launch.
Lol bro you trying to gaslight the customer
This “product” is EMBARASSING.
Coming back to the first vid that drew me to NightSkyPrince.
No wonder i hated 15... the writer behind it is the same behind 7 8 and 10. I like 7 but the story is bonkers. I hate 8. 10 made me stop playing FFs untill 2021 when i finished 15 while hating my life the 42 hours playing it.
What FF part is playing in the background?
my suggestion just play final fantasy XIV and forget about this game
Not gonna lie as a die hard FF fanatic. 15 didn't capture me as 6, 7, 8, 9. Graphic wise Yea but story wise Nay.
Did this man just call me an Ultima Weapon?!?
*Blushes*
...I like him!
They just want money.
You can still make DLC and have great Storytelling. They don't understand this.
I am waiting for everything to be released and for the dust to settle to see what the and results will be before I commit to buying the finished product.
NARRATIVE MISTAKES? that is a big claim . nice video btw thanks
Dammmm that dawn to the future shoutout hurt 😭😭😭
"have you ever seen an anime that only gets one season, and never gets another?“
Yes. Final Fantasy: Unlimited
I finished this game recently. I had this game way back 2017 and I lost interest when they kept coming out DLCS very long. But when I tried to pick it up again, if they had pursued with all the DLCs I think it would have been a complete game.
"how we define what a complete game is"
Are you kidding me? If I HAVE to go outside the game to get the lore, parts of the story, or character motivations, IT'S 100% INCOMPLETE!
Has anyone seen that video saying 13 wasn't that great? I'd like to show him this video to prove him wrong
Maybe you like it because it's a much better game than this clown makes it out to be.
@@StalfosBoy I didn't notice how old the post was, the vid just popped up in my feed and I don't usually check how old they are unless they're like 240p lol
PS I think a simple remaster would probably do the trick, provided they finish the story proper.
