Dave Aryes was my Beer league goalie before taking a job with the Marlies. He got the job as emergency goalie as he filled in during Marlies practices as they gave a goalie a day off for rest and eventually filling in for the leafs practices to give Anderson some rest.
Good game Sam! I liked the other goalies "windmill" glove saves, he played well too. When I had my NY Islanders season tickets during the "glory years, " I had fantasies of both our goalies going down, during a game, and I'd have my equipment in the car, and they would call for a goalie over the PA, and I'd be down to the Isles dressing room in flash! That never happened to me, but it could happen to you, so keep that dream alive!
Thanks man. I'm a defenseman that decided to take up goaltending a few years. I usually get criticised for my game being unorthodox. But whatever, I go to have fun and that's all.
mike policichio been playing goal my whole life and I wish I had a glove hand like that. Your reactions are stellar, just gotta work on the skating and you will be a brick wall
Solid win Sam. You were standing your ground in net and intimidated the opposite team by standing tall. Your forwards and defence picked it up in the third period. I liked how the forwards created net presence and provided the trailer down the middle. Defence for the most part was pushing the other team to the outside wing for weak angle shots. That one goal was a complete screen: guys need to either commit to the block shot or not. Don't just drift over and lazily have your stick to the side. Square up to the shooter; toes pointing to the shooter and stick in front, flat to the ice and straight (versus angled) and you'll have a better chance of blocking it - don't turn away either. Sam, that one poke check was actually a great idea and you can't take the blame when you're left hung to dry....my advice is when the guy has his head up; shooters will always make a minimum of 2 moves before they shoot when they're completely open. I'd try making the poke check on the second move. The other goal that I saw; I did notice that your elbow (glove hand) was slightly open - right beside your side and thus providing a small gap/window - you were standing tall and completely square to the shooter otherwise. As for your comment of making it to the tryouts as an emergency goalie - of course you can do it! Probably would recommend in playing in a higher league though. Doing so means that you'd automatically make adjustments to the higher pace. Lots of off-ice practice too. Love the videos and love all the progress. Keep up the good work but, and never give up on your dreams or goals!
I believe it was the sign in binder. They give them to us in the change room and I bet someone probably showed up late to the game, signed it and gave it to the ref once they got to the bench.
Good performance Sam . Yeah I also dislike those goals that go between your arms and body and under glove and over pad . I try to keep my elbows in to prevent pucks from leaking through .
Bro along with your games, I think it would be really cool seeing your goalie training (what you mentioned in the beginning)- It would be great content! PS keep up the great vids man they're amazing
I have a great tip to help you wield your stick with more power. I played from about 1979 til around 2005, so I started in an era where we had Huge knobs at the very top of the stick......this was done one NHL because Billy Smith was deadly spearing with his but end. Also it kept a little space under the stick so it was easy to pick up if you lost it in a scrum . I played in various leagues in the east and south, and if the goalies we're checked out, that was usually what they were looking for.
I wear one and I love it. I use to have the certified one and now I have the NHL one. I won't go back to anything else. In my last 6 seasons of playing with it, I have never been hit in the eye or anything.
NHL players use them and aren't afraid of getting injured except someone's stick poking through. As long as you dont let it rust and buy one from a brand that is trusted
Great game Sam, lots of amazing saves 😊👍🏻! I hate shots under my arms as well, they are hard to stop especially if you have a defensman in front of you.
Great game Sam! You're improving quite a bit! Would love to throw my hat in the ring for that EBUG tryout ! Do you know where I could find the details for it?
When the opposing forward is coming down with the puck, always force them to the outside (towards the boards) so they don't cut across to the middle of the ice giving them a better shot on net. Also don't try to block a shot with your stick, as you have a better chance at tipping it in than actually stopping it from hitting the net.
Thanks :) I feel like I have been improving a lot more after starting to analyzing my old goals again while creating my new site which will be a only goalie training platform.
Nice atmosphere in this game, where I play there’s a bunch of goons who slash me because I’m to fast n try to start something I’m 20 n play with (27-42) beer leaguers :(
Sorry to throw a beer league D under the bus, but two of those goals were the result of your defenders looking around having zero clue the puck was at their feet
Do you think I would have stopped that shot behind the back with my stick?
Yayayaya

Both goalies played a great game. A lot of saves to be made on both sides.
The other goalie looks like he hasn't had proper goalie fundamentals . That being said he played really good.

Sam. What's the ref holding in his hand at 1:47. Looks like a tablet

Well I’m glad you think so because I was going to document the whole process 👍

Good game Sam. Made some awesome saves. What goalie coach are you thinking about? I'm in the GTA too and wouldn't mind having a goalie coach as well.
Steve McKichan from Future Pro Goalie School.
@@ThePuckStopsHere from watching Travforoilers's videos, that guy seems like a great coach
Best of luck man I believe u can do it
What do you think about cat-eye cages. I want to get a certified one for the league that I play in but people are still skeptical about their safety.

Thanks!
Great game Sam! You're improving quite a bit!
Would love to throw my hat in the ring for that EBUG tryout !
Do you know where I could find the details for it?
I have no idea where or when the tryouts are happening but I am still going to prepare for them so I am ready once I do figure it out.
Makes a really good save goes on like nothing makes a simple glove save and does replay on it
Hey Sam it’s 5 am and I have a game at 8 am any tips for a defencemen
When the opposing forward is coming down with the puck, always force them to the outside (towards the boards) so they don't cut across to the middle of the ice giving them a better shot on net. The Puck Stops Here thanks my brother’s a defenseman and I’ll have to tell him that tip! You are great about replying to comments too!
Calista Harsulla I always try my best to replay to everyone :)
The Puck Stops Here ended up winning 4-1!
Is it really icing when the puck goes through the goal crease?
David Gunneby it’s not
really enjoyed seeing the white goalie demonstrate great windmills and terrible butterflys at the same time
Ref with only one arm band?
I love to watching your progress, this time you has been amazing. Keep it up!
Thanks :) I feel like I have been improving a lot more after starting to analyzing my old goals again while creating my new site which will be a only goalie training platform.
@@ThePuckStopsHere Thats nice, I look forward it. I hope, I could use some of your training exercise.
I have my championship game in 3 hrs any tips (goalie)
Have fun, trust yourself and win or lose be grateful for the opportunity. Also... stop the puck from going in ;)
It would be cool to see you play better goalies I hope keep going to higher leagues
Yes it would be. The tournament I played in a while ago was against good goalies but also good teams. So we didn’t get too many shots on net.
The Puck Stops Here yes but keep it up Sam

Bro I hope they give you a chance. I believe in you. You CAN do this. you just need to stay after it!
Can you do a special Where you post the Whole game

All three goals were hard to stop!
They were but I still feel like I could have stopped them!
Why do all the teams you play have such narrow butterflies-
Sorry to throw a beer league D under the bus, but two of those goals were the result of your defenders looking around having zero clue the puck was at their feet
It is mandatory for every beer league team to have a #69.
Lovely content! Keep it up! Would you like to be UA-cam friends? :]
lol the other goalie made some good sves but he needs a chill pill
That other goalie was flopping like a fish 😂 no sense of positioning what so ever
Should keep ur skate down, not worth the risk in beer league
