John Lithgow Full Interview | CONAN on TBS
/ teamcoco
awe what he said about his wife....i just love this man
i know..such a sweet thing to say. i was just told my husband about this
John Lithgow is such a delight. I know he's an actor, but I believe you can't fake his level of authenticity and kindness, which comes across in every interview. Getting to watch these two interact is a gift. Thanks for the fabulous conversation.
I love how conan ask all his guest how THEY'RE doing. So sweet and caring. 💓
"3rd Rock from the Sun" is still my favorite live-action sitcom to this day by far. What a great show. I'd love to see that crew together again.
I’m a bit of the younger generation. The first time I saw him was as Barney’s father I HIMYM. After those emotional scenes I just had to look him up and review his craft. What a legend.
How often am I stunned watching Mr Lithgow acting. He's a genius.
Everyone absolutely loves John Lithgow. Everyone.
I know this is an overrated Comment, but Damn, Lithgow plays a Perfect Serial Killer, Best Villian in Dexter.
Seqvy after watching dexter I cant look at this man without fear or discomfort lol
I don't think it's overrated at all , he was the best of the lot on Dexter ! Such a shape shifter .
Raising Cain, Shrek, Roger Ailes....
he also plays a great extraterrestrial high commander.
He pretty much nails whatever he does.
Im still terrified of him as The Trinity Killer on Dexter. Poor Rita . Incredible actor.
I'm so happy he briefly mentioned his role on Dexter, that character was one of the best TV-villains I've ever seen, he was so evil and scary... and he was played by an actor that seems like the kindest guy ever!
Because of him I started to follow Dexter. I knew the series, but I really didn't watch it until I saw Lightgow in it.
He was so, so good. Dexter and Cliffhanger are my favourite performances from him.
Sooo... right.
Now, "Salute Nina's butt"
God I love that man. John Lithgow’s such a great personality
💜💚Oh, Mr Lithgow! What a gift to see your dear, loveable face. You have an incredible ability to reach out, to be fully present, to make even a TV audience member feel included, embraced. My fav sitcom of all times is 3rd Rock, a love my children share and my 6 year old granddaughter has every child friendly thing you have done and was recently gifted my Harry and the Henderson cuddly with that wonderfully sculpted face and a DVD of the movie. Today she saw what I was watching and said reverently, 'YaYa, that's my Harry's George.' There are dozens more favorites but nothing more dear and important than the fine work you gifted to families, in so many different genres. You are so loved, so dear, please take very good care of you and stay safe. You are a gift for so many. In humble gratitude. 💖💝
I love John Lithgow so much! He’s so sweet and talented!
Who else always pauses these interviews and tries to go trough what people have in their bookshelves?
Really?? Ever seen anything noteworthy?
I haven’t even thought of that, but I think I might start now that you said something. Thank you for the idea!
I can't see the letters much less the titles of the books
Alright Mr “I have perfect eyesight” 😝 Everyone I see looks about 10 years younger than they actually are because even with glasses, the world has a blurry edge. Instant Filter. The one book I managed to read on his shelf was “Work” 😂
I did executive protection & transportation for 20 years in L.A. Handled over 400 celebs during my run. Mr. Lithgow was the nicest assignment I ever had. Even edged you out Conan. And you were pretty nice too. But john bought me a burger and fries at the Apple Pan. Man knows how to make bonus points.
Who else? Give us the dirt!
@@Mateo-et3wl under a contract of confidentiality. No go. I witnessed lots of illegal activity and also just plain immoral accounts. It was amazing how a lot of the well off behave. For my two decades of it. It was the trust fund babies all grown up that were and probably still are the most dangerous humans. Also met 4 Presidents, 1 foreign leader, several members of congress. It would be safe to say if I wrote a book I would be a billionaire for a week then I would disappear only to have part of my remains found a century later. No dirt from me. Not going make myself a mouse in a pit of snakes. I left the industry 10 years ago. My celeb list was over 400. My best friend is still out there doing and his list wayyyyy bigger. Transferred Conan from LAX once and handled John and his wife once to and from an award show (hint: he won). Both were super nice. Don't mind dropping that bone.
I'm glad I watched him in 3rd Rock before watching him on Dexter. I wouldn't be able to look at him. I love this guy. So talented. I liked his questions for Conan too.
true...thats a sign of such intelligence n exceptional kindness n empathy..
did you see him on 'raising cain'? i was terrified
@@ludmillagutomo No, I've never seen it, but I will. Thank you!
@@lizard9375 enjoy & tell me what you think about the movie, ok?
John Lithgow is a delight and probably one of the most gracious gentleman alive 🥰
John Lithgow is who I consider to be the greatest actor ever, he’s my absolute favorite! I love him in everything
ACTING!
3rd Rock was absolute genius.
John Lithgow seems like the nicest man. Probably is too.
I had the great pleasure of working with him on a project years ago, and indeed, in addition to being immensely talented, John Lithgow is one of the nicest persons I had the pleasure of knowing.
That's what he wants you to believe. In reality, he's a serial killer.
@@igano111 You're watching too much Dexter.
Also!! John is one of my favorite actors. And artist.. .. Love him.. ❤❤❤👍
Thank you for having John Lithgow on. He makes me so happy! My favorite star!
I’ve been binge watching 3rd Rock for the hundredth time and now here is John Lithgow with my Conan. ❤️
He's amazing as Winston Churchill on The Crown
I've always loved John Lithgow. How wonderful it is he's also an amazing human being. Love you too, Conan! 😁
74 years young and still hasn't aged
Ummm hello Shrek?? John is a national treasure.
John Lithgow is an artist, in the truest sense of the word. Brilliant!
John Lithgow > Tom Hanks
*fight me*
I theres a genuine humility around Lithgow that Hanks might have shed from being in Hollywood too long. Lithgow is the thinking man's Hanks
@Matt Talbot I feel like both could lecture me into making different life choices so I recant my statement lol
@Matt Talbot i warned you mr. Talbot 🤺
I can like 'em both.
Ha! I love this comment because the moment I clicked on this video I was thinking "people say Tom Hanks is America's dad, I've always considered it to be John lithgow". Tom Hanks is more like the cool uncle who always gives you cash on your birthday.
I first remember John Lithgow from Harry and the Hendersons. Good times.
What a cool and talented man John Lithgow is!
I don't watch you because you make me laugh. I watch because you make me think and you tell me what I perceive to be the truth.
i have so much love for this guy!
Thank you for these extended interviews!
Conans hairstyling reminds me of Katsushika Hokusais famous painting "The Great Wave of Kanagawa".
"The World According to Garp",..another amazing performance.💗
Man, I remember the first time I saw John L. was in Cliffhanger and I always thought he made a good villain. I didn't know until a few years later that he was more of a comedy guy and even to this day, I can still see him as a villain lol.
Samsquamsh
(Ezekiel) Zeke Hamish Beckley: John Arthur Lithgow also played as the main villain in the animated 2001 movie ‘Shrek’ Lord Farquaad the evil pageboy haircut red suited midget as well as the main villain in “Santa Claus the Movie 1987” B.Z a big time cracking his knuckles villainous greedy step-uncle cigar smoking toymaker who puts nails, glass and sand in teddy bears and makes dolls flammable.
I sincerely felt that Conan's: "Baby lifts a six-pack of beer" bit that he did to ease people back into laughing after 9/11 was one of the greatest and most under-appreciated comedy moments of our generation.
Bravo Conan.
He is truly the best although all his characters were great I think John himself is the best thing to bring up if meeting him
Lithgow is an American Treasure! Catch his fantastic performance on the new Perry Mason on HBO, and look for his son's performance on the same...it's uncanny!!
Such a nice man with a lot of talents.
What about Buckaroo Freaking Bonsai?! John was crazy in that great movie!!
I wish I had a father like John Lithgow.
My heart melted when he talked about is wife. #couplegoals
Loved John in DEXTER! Amazing
Should really be Sir John Lithgow.
alwynd
(Ezekiel) Zeke Hamish Beckley: Yeah Sir John Arthur Lithgow that has a nice ring to it! He really deserves for being such a brilliant alien leader High Commander.
Unbelievable body of work. Elevates every project he’s in.
I've been holding back on putting this back out into the world but it's an old joke (to me): "I want to die in my sleep like my grandfather did, not yelling and screaming like the passengers in his car."
One of the best, most versatile Actors, ever.
I believe him in every role he plays, evil or sweet.
Check out: The World According to Garp. Also starring Robin Williams.
Mr. Lithgow wrote a funny book about Trump. Hes a great poet, too.😉
Love him!💗
Right about Winston Churchill. He was bold, brave, and acted fast!
Old memories. God-old-times. Cliffhanger/Riichochet.....// Respect!!
John Lithgow is just a goddamn delight
John Lithgow is just delightful.
I was just watching this video and i drifted off thinking about what an interesting character John Lithgow is and who else i liked and suddenly i it popped into my head. Imagine John Lithgow and Jeff Goldblum as dinner guests, wow that would be some conversation 🤯😂
Love me some John Lithgow! Way under-rated as an actor.
Love both Conan and Mr. Lithgow
The way he spoke of his 40 year marraige is super sweet.
Cool to see all these Great Actors claiming that Being on Conan is really a great achievement
Someone in Conan's immediate family was schooled on how to coif his hair using the right mousse
Fr0stie Pixie As an Irish lady with a potato head and similar cows lick right in the same spot - that’s all natural, it grows that mental 😂
I love 3rd Rock. One of my favorites. When im down and need a laugh i go try to see where it is streaming. I am al relieved that he said that being quarantined had a upside. When i say it some think im horrible . i am not happy about all the hardship and sadness that it brought but i enjoyed having my family near. I live in a city and it was quiet. Live in Florida and people were outside walking jogging etc more so than usual. It was peaceful. There ive said it. It was ok. And Conan....please do something with your hair. Love both these guys. Thanks
He hasn't aged since the early 80s
Great actor.
😆😂🤣Yeesss, Conan!!! Silly is so necessary, especially now!! Thank you for staying true to the silly!!!💓💓✌️😘✌️
Conan’s hair = Something about Mary! ;)
Good to see John. Sadly, I have not watched any of his recent projects but everything I have seen him in, he kills it! Terms of Endearment is the first thing I can remember seeing him in and I did not initially get the attraction between his and Debra Winger's character when I was a kid. I watched it later and totally got it. His character was very warm and nurturing and was what Debra's character needed. He played it perfectly.
We love you guys. Keep doing you.
The monster on the airplane wing scarred me for life!!!
His poetry and stories are the best
He can play silly and scary
I love John!!!
This guy plays a great villain but I just love the silliness of Third rock so much. Third rock is as close to Monty Python level humour as any American show I've seen, just pure silliness 😁😂
Hi Conan! Thank you for combing your hair! LOL.
🤭😂 John is so funny I still lol watching 3rd Rock and The Crown, he's a quiet legend.
Love you both!
I love both of you
Wow this man seems so kind and wonderful
Legend
I Love it when John Lithgow is on here
Lithgow is an absolutely brilliant man. Awesome stuff.
Lithgow asked Conan a very good question, i wanted to hear what Conan had to say about that
Lovely man good to see it recognised by other people wish more were like him. On my person to meet before I go list.
Love John Lithgow
I adore his children’s album!
Conan, if you ever get this message, your hair looks like the perfect wave for the beach. You should put a surfer baret in there. I mean, it could be, " Conans new fashion statement." What do you think? I bet you could make the red carpet in Hollywood.
JOHN. BIGBOOTÉ!!!
Omg I want his book 😍🥰
Lithgow plays a great villain also.
Raising Cain is my favorite of his!!
A brilliant mind eff twist of a movie
😳😱🤯
🙃👎🏻
😉✨🙏🏻✨💙
it really was-- there was one close up of his face where he lost his grip on sanity that still haunts me!!
Question for the viewers: Is John Lithgow's British counterpart Michael Caine ?
I believe john lithgow has a bit more range
@@hrushikeshpatil3808 I won't disagree with you.
I'm British and I'd say definitely not. John Lithgow is more like Stephen fry. An intellectual, comedian and writer from here who you probably will know.
@@geofthompson3844Fair point. I do know Fry, but I haven't seen as much of his work as I have Ligthgow's.
@@dianeblumenthal5951 it was less of a professional comparison, but more that they both have that Oscar Wilde intellectual air about them and they are both multi talented and highly educated. In England we'd call them Luvvies. Theatre types, you know? 😂Michael Caine is much more of a blue collar rascal, like the Artful Dodger 😂
Wow, just realized from that clip that John Lithgow plus white moustache = John Cleese
Best Lord Farquaad ever!!!!!!
He looks like Patrick Stewart, the same for the past 30 years
Such a talent.
I truly needed a conversation with some intelligent and thoughtful people and this was it. I was sorry to see John L leave Perry Mason. I guess he had to though.
Buckaroo Banzai across the 8th dimension
Lord. John. WHORFIN!!!
such a wonderful man!
In Perry Mason, John Lithgow reminded me of John Cleese
love this man so much
Omg!! Conan.. Love your hair. Tho!! But looks like a huge tidal wave.. In a good wave. I mean way!!! Hehehehe!! Right on Dudes!! Surf's Up!!! Hehehehe.. Love you my brother!! 😸❤😎✌
I'd love to see the ending of 3rd rock from the sun again, where they all get called back home and it's not the giant head... it's the flaming C
