    Thanks for the video. Love it. My Geography professor in college said if I ever made a map, and did not put a North/South direction arrow, and/or did not put a scale of miles... I would instantly fail her class. She sounded serrious. So If I make one of these, my post traumatic stress disorder is going to make me add those two missing ellements. Love your design, but the missing compas directions was making me twitch. I hope Mrs. MacGretchin doesn't find your channel and discover your war crimes. : )

      Thanks!! And that's so funny!! You know, a compass rose would be a cool idea for a new video. Some of the artwork on those on old maps is pretty elaborate. I'll heed Mrs. MacGretchin's advice for future map work. Who knows, maybe she'll see it one day!

    Hi Rick! Great tutorial! I have a question, is it possible to create Wikipedia logo using Inkscape?

    Hi , which format is best for exporting printables art ..PNG or Jpeg and which DPI is best

      Very good question. My preference is PNG. 300dpi or better, especially if being printed in physical world.

      @@IronEchoDesign Actually, the best option is Tiff but I don't know if Inkscape it´s capable of that.

    Hi Rick, is there any way we can commercialise the end result design built from OpenStreetMap's map?

    • @IronEchoDesign
      @IronEchoDesign  2 роки тому +1

      Good question. I believe if OpenStreetMap is credited for the map data, projects made from the map info can be made commercially. They have a tab on their website about how to credit them. I've seen fine print on the bottom of posters mentioning OpenStreetMap. The rules are stricter I believe for web use. Hope this helps.

    anyway you could show how to do a "landscape" map art, like out in the forest? possibly using a topo map?

    • @IronEchoDesign
      @IronEchoDesign  2 роки тому

      Love the idea. I put out the call for open source topo maps on the other comment. There's got to be a few good sites to get the topo data. I know the government has map surveys open to the public.

    can we use open street to create design to sell?

    • @IronEchoDesign
      @IronEchoDesign  3 роки тому

      Great question. If OpenStreetMap is credited their copyright and license page says the data can be used for commercial projects. Here's the link for full details: www.openstreetmap org/copyright

    No matter what I change I cant get my water color to look like that. Its really spaced out and weak.

      Let's fix this! Without seeing your screen, here is my go-to solution: Start with a new workspace and choose the A4 template. Make a very small circle, so small you could fit 10 across the bottom of the template boundary. Choose the Fill Color something in the dark blue range. Make sure Blur is off. Choose Textures- Watercolor. No matter what the effect looks like, the easiest way to correct it is through adjusting the Blur in the Fill and Stroke menu, and then on the Gaussian Blur tab in the Filter Editor, play with the Standard Deviation value slider. Can you let me know if this helps?
