I'm so sad. I can't believe it's been 10 years already. The best Spartacus ever. Godspeed in Heaven and Godspeed to all those who were near and dear to you Andy,
It's impossible not to cry while watching this, especially that we know he didn't make it.. You know what makes it even more painful? Just look at him, it's impossible not to notice a beautiful, devoid of malice soul in his eyes, the light, kindness.. I'm sure he was a great human being, we did not need to know him personally to understand that. I get tears in my eyes even if I think about him.
he actually dies in the documentary, and of course one can cry, but one can be happy as well, cause he has great family, and his wife and kids are so cool... none the less, the transformation that andy goes thru in this documentary is something else, it's hard thing when u know u gonna die, and yet u wanna live, and the worst thing that noone can tell you why... why oh why? why andy? why you let the beast eat you? something must have bothered you, and now we never gonna know... it's almost like a real life Spartacus end. Bad happy-end!
Just started watching Spartacus. I feel really bad for Andy and his family what happened. I am only on episode 5 of Spartacus and I already knew Andy was destined for greatness from his performance. May he rest in peace. Cancer is a scary thing. And I think he faced it very bravely.
I just finished season 1 of Spartacus and this guy was amazing. It's a shame he's no longer with us. I was diagnosed with stage 3 Hodgkin's lymphoma over 3 years ago and underwent 6 months of chemotherapy. It was rough, but I've been in remission for 2 and half years. RIP Andy!
Christopher Medler I am so happy for u brother! I swear this was the best thing that made me happy at the end of the day, belive me it is sincere :) have a nice life bro :)
I thought non hodgkins lymphoma was one of the most mild forms of cancer and rarely claims lives, especially with someone who’s young and strong like Andy was. It concerns me because my father is battling it right now. Are you still in remission?
Usually when I see that an actor died, I say "Oh, that sucks" and get over it in about a day or two, but for some odd reason, Andy's death just killed me on the insides...
Because we watched him get eaten from the inside by cancer and he had the strength to document it on film for us, his poor wife and kids, I can’t even imagine, the kids.
Me too I just 10 years nearly on discovered spartacus. I went to look up an episode and it said was and I thought what, what do you mean Andy was.....and then found all this out. It hit me like a flipping gMmer blow and I have no idea why. Maybe because he was so young, so hot and fit and healthy as spartacus. But utter shock crept in and I'm still crying now. What a waste. Yet people like Megan no talent Markle the mattress are thriving not surviving lying cheating and conniving their way through life whilst this good soul is no longer with us. It makes me question if there is a god sorry. I felt the same way waking around auschwitz.
Lmao, comments like these is why you can never really tell if a person is sarcastic or not on the Internet. Only started to watch Spartacus a week ago and truly was in awe of Andy Whitfield's performance. Then my kids told me that he passed away in Real Life and somehow I just was overcome with emotions and cried for this man and his family. I don't know him personally but he truly touched my heart. I wish that the world will get to see the documentary very soon. Actually I am so overwhelmed that I no longer wish to watch the remaining series. That's just me, may be its wrong but this tragedy really hit home hard. I wish you peace Andy whereever you are and I sincerely hope that Mrs. Whitfield and their two children may find solace in knowing that Andy was loved all over the world. RIP Andy Whitfield ♥
+MrMjhealtheworld the rest of the series is still very good but the new actor who replaced Andy just didnt do it for me as spartacus. He was very good but not Andy. Id recommend watching Gods Of The Arena. It has nothing to do with Spartaucs the character. Its about Batiatus and Lucretia 5 years BEFORE Spartacus came to the house of batiatus. Its fantastic truly. But nothing compares to Blood and Sand. But the whole Spartacus series is the best tv series Ive ever seen.
+MrMjhealtheworld I know what you're saying mate, I kind of felt the same. However, Liam who takes up the role of Spartacus does an awesome job, just give him a chance and by the last episode you will realise it was all worth it. PS: The last episode and the very last shot will sum up all those feelings you feel in one great shot.
+MrMjhealtheworld Exact same here. I just watched season 1 for the first time then started to watch the first episode of season 2 and wondered why the story was going backwards. Googled it up and heard that the man had passed away. I have no wish to watch season 2&3. A beautiful light is gone...
The whole series was doomed after he was gone. No disrespect to ANYONE else. But the part was literally WRITTEN just for HIM. And there was no one else who could do it. It was just DOOMED and it's days numbered when God took Andy

but the saddest thing of all is that he did not get the chance to see his gorgeous children grow up and they have had to do it without their beloved daddy
I was a big fan of Spartacus and of Andy as an actor. I was realy sad when I heard the news that Andy was diagnosed with cancer and cried when he passed away. Not until just now I saw this clip and cried again. I have had the same experience as Andy's wife Vashti. My husband was also diagnosed with cancer july 31th 2012. He died on januari 16th 2014. Watching how Andy was undergoing the treatments and the loving care of his wife for him, brought tears to my eyes. I felt stings in my hart. My husband was only 53 and left me with 4 beatifull children. I think of you Vashti. ❤ warm regards Louise
A friend of mine just got me onto watching Spartacus and i've just watched the first episode and thought i'd check out some of the actors on you tube only to discover that Andy passed away 4 years ago.I have to say i'm gutted before i even get into the series, he seemed perfect for this role. Whats a dam shame, so young, life you can be very cruel! Now i plan to watch the rest as a tribute to this fine young man. Belated condolenses to all his family and friends, and fans.
Just finished season 2, and I start season 3 episode 1 only to see a different actor plating Spartacus...went straight to google to find out why, and now im sooo sad. Damn this caught me way off guard
The character didn't make Andy, Andy made the character. There will never be another to take his place, to bring the passion in the words that he spoke and to show that much depth of a character with just a look. You will truly be missed Andy!
I can't look at Andy calmly, knowing that he is no more. Tears, pain, loss and eternal memory of him in our hearts ... ❤️ So deeply this valiant man and great actor touched all my feelings. As if I know him personally and for many years. There are no words to express all my ADMIRATION to Andy for the worthy role of Spartacus 👏👏👏The best Spartacus in the best historical series in the world ⚔️🔥
I had no idea that they did this documentary. I wish there would have been more media coverage on this. It makes me so sad that he lost his life to this awful cancer. I feel terrible for his family, his children and wife. He was an amazing performer/actor and I was taken in by the Spartacus series from the very first season, but it just wasn't quite the same without him. That isn't to diminish the fine acting by all the other actors, it is just that he really did a tremendous job making you believe in what you were watching. Anyway I am going to search for the documentary and see if I can't pay for it in hopes that the proceeds go toward cancer research.

I went to the same school as Andy, (a few years apart) Didn't really know him all too well and saw him around town a couple of times before he moved to Australia in 99'. Everyone seemed to love and respect him and he loved and respected them back. Andy... You will always be a son of Amlwch, we will never forget you and miss you always.
I had to stop by and watch again... to say hi to Andy. Although I never met the man, I felt, and still feel, such heartache at his loss. Eleven years later, and I still tear up. Andy, you beautiful soul, thank you for the gifts that you gave to the world during your brief stay here.
Andy really fits the role of Spartacus. His maturity, his looks fits the character well. You will be forever known as Spartacus Andy. Thank you. Rest in Peace, Bringer of Rain.
"I am SPARTACUS" Indeed, you were a warrior, an honorable and courageous man. I’ve just met you through this show and I’ve recently learned of your sad disappearance. Rest in peace, rainmaker, you have fought a noble battle. Signed a French girl who admires you very much and who will never forget the beautiful and talented actor that you were... ❤
What a phenominal actor Andy Whitfield was although he has passed we will not forget him, when i watch him again in Spartacus its as if he never passed.
+BasqueNYC I was the opposite. I couldn't see Andy, and that's why I stopped watching after the second season. Liam did a good job, but Andy was Spartacus, and Spartacus wasn't the same without him.
It's crazy that someone can be inspiring so long after they're gone. He was made for that role. It's like he was Spartacus in real life and just played himself.
This could be one of the hardest documentaries I've ever watched, but I am definitely going to see it. Andy was taken from us far too soon and is missed by many... Spartacus, in my opinion, continued to be a great show, but unfortunately it is a constant reminder of Andy and losing such an amazing actor and from all accounts an amazing person as well. Godspeed, Andy, and may the afterlife find you well...
I agree, we watch this man whittle away to nothing, I had to watch it in pieces over a the course of a week but then about a month later watched it in its entirety.
Andy Whitfield was a brilliant man and a great actor and performer, his lose at this time in his life when he was on the cusp of something extraordinary is beyond sad. Yet watching this video one can tell he meet his end with every bit as much dignity and courage as Spartacus himself. Rest in peace Andy and take comfort in the knowledge that you will never be forgotten, as a character named Hortaio once said "Now cracks a noble heart. Good night, sweet prince and flights of angels sing thee to thy rest!"
I can't believe that Andy is no longer with us😥 I write these words with terrible pain and tears. 13 years have passed since his death, and I only now saw him for the first time in the role of Spartacus. Words cannot express how much he touched me with his skill, charisma, talent. How much I loved him❤️This role was given to him by fate itself. Crazy energy comes from within him. A real warrior, a fighter, a Gladiator🗡️🛡️ Such a courageous Man ✊ What power, strength and valor he showed us, even through the screen I feel it. An incomparable actor who has no equal👍 "Andy, you are the best Spartacus. You will forever remain in my heart🫶We remember, we love, we mourn."🙏
Such an amazing man, such an amazing actor. I really wish he would have won the fight with his cancer. It's really sad. As for Spartacus, i think Liam Mcintyre is doing a good job, but nobody could have replaced Andy Whitfield as Spartacus. And i am not just saying that because he died, but because he played the role with such a passion. It feels like this role was meant for him. Great that he could at least do the first Season, his legacy shall live on! RIP Andy Whitfield!
I had this disease and survived it. When I watched this documentary I knew exactly what they went through because my family and I went through the same hell and came out stronger and greatfuller. RIP Andy
I'm a bit dissapointed in myself for not knowing anything about this documentary, and I'm a HUGE Spartacus fan. RIP Andy, you were and always will be Spartacus to me.
Just started watching Sparticus on Netflix and became a big fan of Andy. So sad he is not here anymore and RESPECT for this man and the documentary! Good luck y'all!
Andy was extremely strong! What a example of being real Man! I'm watching spartacus every single year! Fucking miss u man. Lots of love to your family from Polish fan. .
I am so sorry Andy and Family.. I will be foverer with you all with all my power and might.. We will see each other Andy.. sooner or later.. A great hug..
I would really want to watch this documentary film. I love him in the Spartacus series when i watched it years ago and was saddened when he passed away. On 2014, I was diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer i went through everything from chemotherapy, surgery to radiation but after 3 years of what i had hoped i was in remission the cancer came back now im in stage 4 with lung and bone metastasis. Watching this video, i felt what he may have been going through then and to see how strong and hopeful he was inspires me to be the same. Thank you, Andy, i will pray for you and your family.
Every time I rewatch Spartacus (especially season 1) I'm always saddend that he's not with us anymore. You could really feel his pain/emotions when he acted. It was the role of his life. But besides all that, I cannot imagine how his wife and kids must feel after losing him. That is just indescribable. Especially when you see he treated them well and was loved so deeply by just being a good human being.
Just watched it on Netflix, haven't cried this much in a while. Thank you for sharing this beautiful story of how bravely he fought til the very end. As a new father, I understand needing to do whatever it takes to be there for your kids and family. Andy will forever be missed and there will never be a truer champion.
For some reason, Andy's passing always makes me sad. And it is strange, because I did not know the man, only his character. But even though, the documentary Made me realize what a great human being he was. Hope is in peace, and I hope he know how much we all miss him.
I decided to watch Spartacus now, when I have a lot of time. I was shocked to learn that Andy had died of cancer. I am 29 years old and 2 months ago I found out that I have cancer. I am very scared because I also have two small children. I want to live. greetings to all Andy fans.
My mother has been fighting cancer for 3 years now and it’s such a sad thing to see a loved one suffer so much and nothing we can do to heal them and stop the pain and suffering! Andy Whitfield you will be forever missed my brother! You nailed it mate and had my eyes and my mind 100% on your Series with the other cast! Condolences to his loved ones and friends! He will be forever missed! YOU ARE SPARTACUS!!!
I'm watching Spartacus blood and sand again. I am not done with the first season, again, but i am reminded of Andy's death. It saddens me. He was such a great actor and i didn't knew of this project. Was the kick starter successful?
100+ & rising ignorant people, who either don't appreciate life fully as they have not lived, or yet felt the loss & pain that comes from living that they have yet to feel. R.I.P. Andy.
RIP Andy Whitfield, I've just watched Spartacus season 1 and I'm watching season 2. I've just known you but now you gone away. I wanna see more and more movies with you're in but it can't :'( I must admit that no actors can play Spartacus as good as by you! Feeling so sad! :'(
What a beautiful man with a beautiful soul. He had a soothing voice like an angel’s and delivers a very powerful spiritual message of be here now/live in the present. God bless him and his family and friends. Being a period piece cinephile, I wanted to watch Spartacus when first aired, but did not have access to it. Synchronistic that Jai Courtney introduces this video since his list of movies reminded me of this Spartacus series that I just watched recently. Gratitude to all involved in this amazing series and for introducing us to Andy and his message in this documentary.
It’s really a shame that this documentary isn’t available on Netflix anymore, I wanted to show my gf and show her that the actor that portrayed the unstoppable Spartacus, in all is violence and blood, was actually a gentle soul... It’s a great loss for the film industry and a bigger one for his family and friends 😔
I obviously didn't know him. I just first seen him act in Spartacus. I am also now just finding out about his passing. I do not get sad by actors personal journey. I do however feel for their loss but I don't invest much thought when I have never watched aby show they acted in. Furthermore, the news of his passing hit me deeply. To watch a man (or woman) be stripped down to skin and bones, is far beyond hurtful. His tears made my heart cry. I pray his death was not in vein & God has some meaning behind the sins of man. Our technology and intelligence is so advanced, it would be a mortal sin if cures were kept a secret. God Bless you Andy.
Loved the Spartacus show an have watched em a few times. Was soo sad hearing about his illness an passing. Would've loved seeing him finish up the series. He seemed like a good man. R.I.P. Andy
My god I cried so hard at this as my mum had breast cancer. but she recovered. ... and I watched this over and over during her treatment. .....bless him and his family xxxx
Thanks to the people playing the characters Gannicus, Crixus, Spartacus and Agron in the Insanneseum, another type of cancer. You are an inspiration. Keep working it!
After the absence of Andy Whitfield in the second and third seasons, I could not watch the two seasons due to the death of the hero.I also fell into a state of depression, and I could never forget Andy Whitfield, for he is always present in my heart, with his smile that never leaves me.😢
This is deeply moving and deeply sad. I was shaking the entire time I watched this. Andy was a terrific actor and I'm glad he decided to make an impact. Andy you will be truly missed.
My father is currently fighting against cancer for the second time in 2 years . I love Spartacus. It is the best TV series I have even seen. I am very moved by Andy´s death because I feel very familiar with what his family had to go through. Andy was a great actor, and he will continue to live in our memories. Thank you Andy and Thank you Andy´s family for this video.
Glad I wasn't the only one. That dude andy Whitfield looked like a giant on screen then for them to put this puney little dude in the role just killed the show for me
Andy Stephenson Liam McIntyre is actually 8cm taller than Andy Whitfield was. And he was favoured by Whitfield as his replacement. Leonholic you are hardly in a position to review the entire series of Spartacus: Vengeance after only watching a few minutes of the first episode. Both Spartacus: Vengeance and War of the Damned were brilliant additions to the story as a whole. Still the exact same directors, producers, writers and creativity etc behind them as Blood and Sand.
donniegerrard Yeah could be that it is nice but for me its Spartacus = Andy Whitfield. He just looks like a Tracian of that time you know? Liam just looks like a Hollywood actor...
We don't even know what a Thracian actually looked like since we have no actual photo images from that time. Neither is it a 100% known fact that the historical Spartacus was even Thracian....thats all been presumed but not confirmed. Hardly anything is known about the historical Spartacus or even what his real motives were. I also find it strange how Jozef Kaščák admits he only finished watching Blood and Sand in September 2014. 5 years after it aired on TV and 3 years after Andy Whitfield's death!!!!! Yet now he is now suddenly such a huge fan of Andy Whitfield that he cant watch the follow up seasons that don't have him in it!!!!! This is what I call fake-sympathiser syndrome. Jumping on a bandwagon and pretending to be such a huge fan as its the "cool" thing to do when they hear about an actors death. This happened with Robin Williams last year and Michael Jackson in 2009. People who never gave them any attention during their life suddenly acting as devout fans when the star in question dies. Fabricating admiration.
He was a beautiful person inside & out. He was the best Spartacus ever!

The exact same happened to me I'm almost finished with the first season and it really sucks to find out he's passed really depressing
Totally agree. I havent started the 2nd season yet but i hope i can adjust to the new actor, will be a tough act to follow.
I just started Spartacus - Vengeance but I cant watch this without Andy Whitfield. To me its just not the same. Are you enjoying the 3rd season?
Leonholic
The new guy is okay. Andy was a whole lot better though.
+Cat 52 The film is releasing this Thursday April 7 in cities around the U.S. for a special BeHereNowDay one-day screening. Check out more here: www.beherenowfilm.com/#!screenings-2/zadcq Also, in theaters in NYC and LA from Apr 8-22. We hope you can get to see it!
Are u saying that niuing this documental is a way of supporting the cancer research??
@@BeHereNowTheAndyWhitfieldStory Can we find a french version ? I watched it in english as i speak english too but my Friends don't and would be great if they could find it in french
"I am SPARTACUS"
Indeed, you were a warrior, an honorable and courageous man.
No disrespect towards Liam who took over the role who is amazing but when I watch season 2 & 3 I see Andy not Liam
same goes for me and all his fans...
I agree! I hated watching him.
+BasqueNYC I was the opposite. I couldn't see Andy, and that's why I stopped watching after the second season. Liam did a good job, but Andy was Spartacus, and Spartacus wasn't the same without him.
+samuricexful Exactly, I couldn't get through the second episode before I quit, Andy was the best.
Same, tried to watch the second season but it just wasnt the same :(
Watching Spartacus in 2020 and knowing Andy isn't in season 2 broke me!😭
He s such a kind hearted guy, great husband and dad, a good son...he s a rare breed in this world we live all in...such a great loss
I'm a cancer patient, too and I admire this incredible man and actor. R.I.P.
By the way, you'll be always in our hearts, real warrior.
WingsandaHeart52 how are you now? Are you okay? Hope u r okay, will be waiting for your reply
Are you fine?
i hope you are fine and well..
R.I.P the Champion of Capua...
You always will be Spartacus Andy Withfield... From México

Great post. Said it better than I could have.
***** It was from the heart.
Do u still miss him tho 🙁
I had this disease and survived it. When I watched this documentary I knew exactly what they went through because my family and I went through the same hell and came out stronger and greatfuller. RIP Andy
2019 still get sad by watching this
2021, pal, AND still missing him he Is Spartacus, the bringer of rain
2024 such a loss.
RIP champion! 5 years today an Angel was taken from us
Just imagine how amazing Spartacus would have been if Andy survived 😭
Spartacus watching today series 13 October. Always remembering his great work. Live always.
Stories like Andy's shine a light on what is important in this world.
As a father myself I know you shouldn't pick favorites, but I'm sure he has a seat at the table.
Andy whitfield is my hero. I loved his work in Spartacus. I just bought tickets for beherenow screening in hollywood.
I'm a bit dissapointed in myself for not knowing anything about this documentary, and I'm a HUGE Spartacus fan. RIP Andy, you were and always will be Spartacus to me.
Just finished Spartacus bit back a lot of tears when they showed Andy in the credits.
Me too. Just watched it after 8 years and its so heartbreaking..how cud such a greats dies so early and quickly
Just started watching Sparticus on Netflix and became a big fan of Andy. So sad he is not here anymore and RESPECT for this man and the documentary! Good luck y'all!
Nearly made me cry.
R.I.P Andy
I can not believe that he is dead you will stay in our memories, Spartacus!
Just finished watching Be Here Now. Such an amazing tribute. Well done all for helping to make it happen. RIP Andy ✊🏼
Andy was extremely strong! What a example of being real Man! I'm watching spartacus every single year! Fucking miss u man. Lots of love to your family from Polish fan. .
I hope you watched this year as well 'cause I just did :"(
I love the show Spartacus. Always will.
Shows how much fun they had on set.
Rest in Peace Spartacus!
I sincerely hope that you are doing well. Stay strong.
R.I.P. Andy
I’ve rewatched Spartacus like 8 times. I miss you so much, Andy.
God just crying my eyes out! Dam man Andy :(
Just watched it on Netflix, haven't cried this much in a while. Thank you for sharing this beautiful story of how bravely he fought til the very end. As a new father, I understand needing to do whatever it takes to be there for your kids and family. Andy will forever be missed and there will never be a truer champion.
Un verdadero guerrero, dentro y fuera de la pantalla. Que descanses en paz Andy.
One of my Top5 tv series ever, definitely! I'm 38 and watched a tones of it.
For some reason, Andy's passing always makes me sad. And it is strange, because I did not know the man, only his character. But even though, the documentary Made me realize what a great human being he was. Hope is in peace, and I hope he know how much we all miss him.
Энди - лучший актер что я когда либо видел. Замечательный человек. Светлая память. Слёзы на глазах от осознания того, что его больше нет.
I decided to watch Spartacus now, when I have a lot of time. I was shocked to learn that Andy had died of cancer. I am 29 years old and 2 months ago I found out that I have cancer. I am very scared because I also have two small children. I want to live. greetings to all Andy fans.
I wish you all the best in getting to a full recovery
Hey man. How are you?
🙏🙏🙏
I hope you made it Kamil
Dude?
R.I.P. Andy.
Maybe they're the people who think it's taking way too long to be legit!
I have just finished watching Spartacus this month, April 2019. Andy, you are a true hero and an inspiration and you will always be missed. Love you.
RIP Andy Whitfield, I've just watched Spartacus season 1 and I'm watching season 2. I've just known you but now you gone away. I wanna see more and more movies with you're in but it can't :'( I must admit that no actors can play Spartacus as good as by you! Feeling so sad! :'(
gone way to soon R.I.P brother spartacus for ever!!!
Amazing guy. excellent actor and wonderful father. RIP.
You will always be the champion of capua. Thanks Andy.
R.I.P. Andy
R.I.P Andy Whitfield. Slayer of Theokoles, Bringer of Rain and THE CHAMPION OF CAPUA!
He did amazing job as Spartacus.
My god I cried so hard at this as my mum had breast cancer. but she recovered. ... and I watched this over and over during her treatment. .....bless him and his family xxxx
Be Here Now from Hungary.
Andy... sorely missed, RIP mate..
Thanks to the people playing the characters Gannicus, Crixus, Spartacus and Agron in the Insanneseum, another type of cancer. You are an inspiration. Keep working it!
Andy will always be Spartacus to me.
This is the saddest thing ever
After the absence of Andy Whitfield in the second and third seasons, I could not watch the two seasons due to the death of the hero.I also fell into a state of depression, and I could never forget Andy Whitfield, for he is always present in my heart, with his smile that never leaves me.😢
Can I have an update on how this is doing please? It's taking a very long time for something that was almost finished in 2012!!
Who the hell would dislike this????
This is deeply moving and deeply sad. I was shaking the entire time I watched this. Andy was a terrific actor and I'm glad he decided to make an impact. Andy you will be truly missed.
Liam McIntyre had huge shoes to fill and I'm glad the series went on in sure Andy would have wanted it to keep going
Вечная память СПАРТАК!!! Покойся с миром. Ты в наших сердцах. Переведите кто может этот ролик и все ролики с его участием.
This video make me cry even after all this years. And when I saw the film my heart was broken.
Spartacus was never the same after Andy Whitfield died
RIP Andy maybe one day we will kick cancers Ass.
We miss you buddy
last night i finished season 01.. i started season 02 seeing Andy´s substite.. so disappointing.. spartacus series ended by first season for me..
Yeah to me too. Its just an average Series with Liam Mcintyre, nothing special. I stopped after watching the start of the first episode.
Still the exact same directors, producers, writers and creativity etc behind them as Blood and Sand.
donniegerrard
Yeah could be that it is nice but for me its Spartacus = Andy Whitfield.
Please this is so Emotional
Thanks for paying such respect to Andy
A great warrior, both on screen and off.
Spartacus couldn't hold a candle to the real life Andy Whitfield
