I remember building piston elevators before observers amd slime blocks were a thing. It was so much work just to make them function properly without glitching you into the pistons.

To speed up the downward bubble column, hold crouch when you hop in. It will also make it so you do not take damage from the magma block at the bottom. Then you can just sneak your way out of the column.
I feel like I owe you money. That was the most informal and accurate explanation of an observer block. Understand you in 3 minutes when I’ve been playing it for 10 + 😹😹😹

True, but Gravity is SOOOO much faster!!
Then you'd need something to cushion your drop.
Last thing we want is going splat when we hit the ground.
HA! I am replaying TES Oblivion right now and because my endurance is so high I use gravity as my main shortcut for everything. 😅
