Hi, thanks for this videos. This guys, RareWatts were my friends back in Kenya in 1990!. I loved the whole thing they did in competition with my fellow highschool mates JAM CITY (Evans and Lau). Really brings memory ... DJ Hussein Abdallah of disco shadow, dj Kariz, Promoter Peter Mwendwa, bouncers Lefty, Agush, ..and of course yours truly myself one of the event organizers.
Legends are made of this. Rare Watts and Jam Session. Its NEVER BEEN THE SAME EVER SINCE... Shukran for the upload. And For the Brethren who named the songs... I have a chupa of Tusker for you boss. I have been trying to find this song for over 20 years... and you just made my year...Shukran to All... JAMUHURI IS SURELY BLESSED
The exact mix they were competing to in the finals was : "2 IN A ROOM - DO WHAT YOU WANT " mixed into "snap dont believe the hype" mixed into "take me away" mixed into "dirty cash money talks" mixed into "urban soul- alright" . whole mix was like 7 minutes and the dances were hot!
at that time, as much as the entire country wanted them to win...it was like a a 4-6 year old growing...we had optimistic dreams/ visions it would get better...well, here we are now!
If you look closely, you might see a 15-year-old me sitting hapo front row. Also now's a good time for the organisers to tell us what criteria was used to deny Rare Watts the first prize! Nkt bado nimejam.
