This was very moving. At 27 and without any human contact, Will is such a sad and depressed individual. Mike comes into his life for just one night and changes his outlook. He cared enough about him from that single interaction to guide him to another path. What a wonderful thing to do. The writing was excellent and the tenderness and understanding between them was palpable. Thank you for sharing.
I agree with you. Yes, it seems just one night, the end of Will's birthday night Mike cared enough for him to get rod of tge gun into the ocean and read that letter to the family. Mike wanted Will to start to life his life. It was very nice movie to me as well!!😊❤
Really appreciate the realism in Mike's character. His honesty sold the role for me. He understood Will's mental state and did his best (given his position) to help out without getting too involved. Some people might disagree and say Mike should've done more, but you gotta remember. He's known this random stranger for all of 4-5 hours. He has his own life and struggles to get back to. He could've ignored the signs and done nothing, but he chose to help in the best way he could.
Yes, I agree with you! Mike did as much as he could for the night. The had drinks, did the sauna and then made love and slept a little bit. I like when Mike got up to cook I guess some cookies or something for a small birthday treat and give it to Will at 2 or 3 o'clock in the morning.😊 The movie is very nice!!😊 The character Mike is handsome.😊
The cookies had been hanging around in the rental - they were stale. Mike took the money - no problem. Ultimately, another day, another dollar - although he is evidently bi. Suspect Mike has come across this kind of thing before.

When Mike came in, he was wearing an AC/DC T shirt under his flannel shirt. When he left, he only wore the flannel shirt. In the morning, Will was wearing Mikes T Shirt. I dont know why I noticed that, but it was a really lovely piece of the story.
@@gja822 I think Mike left his t-shirt behind deliberately so Will would have something to remember him by and remember how happy he was finally being honest with himself and being intimate with another guy
WOW! Just wow, it amazes me how a 20 minute short could encapsulate so much in such a short amount of time. Both actors did a superb job, but the way Chris Bellant’s ‘Will’ pulls you in, you just want to hug him, and let him know everything will be okay. I love the empathy Will Pullen’s ‘Mike’ has, he didn’t have to do what he did, but he did. Such an incredible film ❤ Another gem of a find.
This was an incredible short! Just phenomenal all around!!! Love the fact that no stereotypes were used here, the empathy and humanity, it was just awesome! Performances were amazing as well!! kudos! ♡♡♡
You can feel the way he fell in the film at any age I am 59 years old. I felt like that for a long time. I got a cat he gave me a reason to get up in the morning. I needed something to love and something to love me. I'm much better now. Thank for the film.
Completely drawn in, short of the suicide and the hustling, I have essentially played both of these roles in the 15 yrs I have been out. Great short films
This was so beautifully done. I suffer from this type of depression and really resonate with the idea of taking the plan away. Giving someone another chance. Thank you
Captivating from start to finish!! Hats off to everyone involved to produce something about life, innocence, lessons learned and shared, but most of all human CARE and the effect thereof. BRAVO!!! and warmest greetings from South Africa.👏🏻👏🏻👌🏻👌🏻❤🇿🇦😊
My eyes feasted on the beauty of this film. My ears hung on every word. My brain enjoyed the message and connection between these two characters. Rarely does a 20 minute short fill my heart. Thank you. I will remember this for a long time to come.

So well written. So well captured. So well acted. Congrats to all involved. This is what an independent short film should look like! Looking forward to more from ALL of you!!!!
I found it wonderful, sensitive, and uplifting! If you think it’s bad when you’re twenty-ish, wait til you’re 77, retired, single and all alone, no family. Afraid to go out, meet anyone, anywhere. I don’t drink, smoke, drug….how do I meet someone who gives a Fuck about ME !
You let it be scary and go out into the world...no one can give a fuck about you if they don't know you exist! Don't white knuckle your way through it, start with a therapist. You got this!
I am 66, retired five months so,similar situation, single, and not close to family members. I am an introvert, but have many interests. Through those interests, I made friends and connections. If I can find someone else at this age, I will be happy. If I don’t, I will still be happy. Our life is about living to the fullest under any circumstances, and that does not have to be just one way. The problem about gay community in general is that it focuses so much on youth-oriented endless hedonistic life style. If you are afraid going into it, will have to evolve and find other way to connect, that is called growth and wisdom.
DAMN, Just DAMN!!! They say things, people, appear in our lives when we need them most. I’m not certain that it’s “Devine” intervention or some other power at play, what I DO know is that it’s 1:27am and I’m alone in a hotel room with my faithful Service Dog laying next to me on one side, and my 9mm S&W on the other. I have been dealing with a major medical issue since 2009. The unrelenting pain and other losses have drained me, and I can honestly say that I’m living to provide the best life possible for my Dog. We have a routine, and an undeniable bond and way to communicate. Several nights like this, I haven’t pulled the trigger because I know how terrified she is of the sound of fireworks and gunshots. The thought that I would abandon her in such a manner haunts me. THANK YOU for sharing this “Perspective” with me/us. It seems so flippant to say, “we all have something to live for, and, it will get better,” however, life experiences seem to support this.
Thank you this deeply personal and vulnerable message, we're so happy that Lovell's film resonated so strongly with you. To better days for both you and your dog.
What a powerful film. The right people often come into your life just when you need them most. Mike had more of an impact on Will than this own family. And I'm sure his family wished him a Happy Birthday, but the way he giggled like a lil school girl when Mike did it speaks volumes. He truly craves an intimate connection with another guy.
what a sweet ending. I've been with a few escorts and they were all exceptionally warm and genuine. Even when I wasn't feeling good about myself, like in this vid short.
I loved this short film. Comparatively little dialogue and so much 'show' with little 'tell' that gives the story space to breathe and say so much more.
It's just a perfect film in every aspect. The story is told in such a wonderfully calm and focused manner. The dialogues are on the point and if nothing to say the little gestures and looks in the natural acting of Will Pullen and Chris Bellant making the story so credible. The message is simply life affirming and the advice Mike gives is the best you can get: Go out into the real world, a friend like Mike is waiting to be found somewhere out there. Be brave.
Hope is a sentiment that inspires us to yearn for something essential. While it's simple to define, embodying it is another matter. This short film resonated deeply with me, as I live each day fueled by a hope that stirs my heart. I may not have specific expectations, but I always harbour a desire that things will unfold as they did for the guy in the film. Merely thinking about it won't summon the hope akin to love. For me, navigating life without awaiting a miracle is liberating. Meanwhile, I cherish friends who, unwittingly, become reasons to value them just as they are. My gratitude goes to Directors Notes who express such hope.
I can't say anymore that hasn't already been written in the comments, about the film. Really this is a remarkable short. I have a friend who struggles with suicidal thoughts and another who is depressed about quite a lot of things. I hope whoever sees this film is inspired to be more compassionate. We all need it.Thank you for this.
Thank you for this film. I have felt this way. I have lost friends to suicide. You have to find someone who will understand and can help. I live alone in a big city, and want to make a change. Sometimes, all we need is another man's touch. I hope this film will help another man in a similar situation. And not do the irreversible choice.
Here is a story line for you and it happened in real life: I am a man and I was married to a man. Our friends and family attended to the wedding. It was fabulous. Just less than two years after, my husband had a stroke/heart attack in front of me while we were watching TV. He was buried, I was kicked out of our house and I had to move to another country. PTSD moved in and it wasn't easy to deal with. Got over it and I am ready for new challenges. Life doesn't end when love dies.
Im older and that was an excellent short story. Perfect time length. If your young and and fight depression like myself, watch this more than once. Dont be depressed. Work on whats making you depress and make changes. 👍💯
I am glad I watched till the end. Initially it was very depressing to watch , You sees one's vulnerability ( very well acted) & the other's kindness. Tender & loving in an " untender" & unloving situation.
First, thank you for making this under a SAG-AFTRA contract! All filmmakers should use one. Then…What a terrific film! From beginning to end, it’s a complete story with a beautiful script, powerful acting, strong production values, and a perfect pace. I hope you continue telling stories for a very long time. Congratulations!
I have been there. I think this film portrays it very well. The acting is great and the script is perfect. Everyone needs to be there for others and allow others in.
This hits close. I'm trans and in my late 20s. I left high school to do online school halfway through because of bullying. Ever since then I've been extremely isolated. I don't have friends, I don't go out, I've never had an in person boyfriend (only long distance 'relationships' that never went anywhere), I've never 'been with' anyone intimately, I've never been to parties or bars. I struggle with severe depression. I don't know if things will ever change, but I can hope
Powerful reminder that you could be the person who provides a good enough reason for a suicidal person to stick around and keep trying, knowing that like your unplanned interaction, more good things could be coming. I spent 30 years suffering with depression and deep suicidal ideation, and every time my end felt near, I would have a great if brief experience or exchange with some random person, or see an especially beautiful sunset, and think to myself, “I’m just not ready to let go of this place, and the idea that tomorrow could be the day that changes everything.” Smile at people, it could actually make a difference in their world.
The acting is pitch perfect. Chris Bellant played Will, Will Pullen played Mike. " I have your number." "You don't have to pay me to come fuck you..." Guys, this friendship is not over. A couple of touches I noticed. The way Mike looks away as Will takes off his shorts to enter the hottub, so as not to allow for any embarrassment. That's a real pro. Will walks along the beach, takes a moment to pick up a shell, look at it then keeps walking, and ends picking up another one to appreciate at the very end. That small detail suggests an interest in something...
I too noticed the way they both kinda 'fell' for the other as the night progressed. Mike tried his best to keep it professional but failed, and that's a good thing in this case because he saved a life and made a new friend/fuck buddy, if I may be so bold. I just wonder how his gf will feel about the latter since he doesn't care about the pay anymore.
At the start of the film they made a big scene out of the protagonist parking his car outside the house, walking to the gate, entering a pin to open the gate …… then the hustler just shows up at the front door ….. how did the hustler get the gate opened?
Gracias
Far from run of the mill, this short required a second viewing to be fully appreciated. Despite occasional misgivings concerning credibility, the final verdict had to be entirely positive. A one-night encounter was latent with intriguing past histories unexplained and inevitably unexplored. And both futures are far from certain. An emotionally complex film.
Wow these are some beautiful houses... My main thought from my rental the size of his beach house bathroom. 😂 bro just needs additional antidepressants like the rest of us maybe. He is so beautiful his mum is alive he has all this stuff going for him. Its a shame his brain is so broken

Lovely!
Absolutely loved this! I couldn’t really differentiate between their voices, but in your opinion, who said, “good night” at 18:23 ?
A beautiful story.
Mike is God's angel from heaven. Fitting for a great looking dude that plays Mike's character.
best short gay film i ever saw
Well, this made ye ol tears flow a bit.💙
Es una historia hermosa, perfecta en el tiempo. Para bien o para mal, me logré identificar en varios aspectos y también espero mi final feliz.
Wow these are some beautiful houses... My main thought from my rental the size of his beach house bathroom. 😂 bro just needs additional antidepressants like the rest of us maybe. He is so beautiful his mum is alive he has all this stuff going for him. Its a shame his brain is so broken
Great short film.
The title is a spoiler... it detracted from my ability to appreciate the ending as it wasn't a surprise...please consider changing it.
P.S I'm not saying it's not a lovely little film 😊
Edit: I'm not referring to the title proper, rather, the description that follows
That's the official synopsis from the filmmakers which we always respect.
