I am pretty excited about the news. I think I am a little cautious just because we are in the remake era like you mentioned. If they take this approach with a lot of love and care, then I am very excited about what they will do. I am a bit hesitant for now because I have heard that this is a very small studio at the moment and they don't have any real history behind them yet. In terms of pros I have heard that the Kelce brothers have expressed a love for the series as well as JJ Watt so I can see pro players being in the games. I think working with the actual organizations like the MLB, NFL, and so in would be the road bump for the pros. Honestly just eagerly waiting for more news right now, fingers crossed that it is an actual full revival of the series.
For a Backyard Baseball game, these are the players I would choose for each team: AL East: New York Yankees - Aaron Judge Baltimore Orioles - Gunnar Henderson Boston Red Sox - Tanner Houck Tampa Bay Rays - Yandy Díaz Toronto Blue Jays - Vladimir Guerrero Jr. AL Central Cleveland Guardians - José Ramirez Kansas City Royals - Bobby Witt Jr. Minnesota Twins - Byron Buxton (Royce Lewis would also be a good pick) Detroit Tigers - Tarik Skubal Chicago White Sox - Garrett Crochet AL West Houston Astros - José Altuve Seattle Mariners - Julio Rodríguez Texas Rangers - Nathan Eovaldi Oakland Athletics - Brent Rooker Los Angeles Angels - Tyler Anderson NL East: Philadelphia Phillies - Zack Wheeler Atlanta Braves - Ronald Acuña Jr. New York Mets: Pete Alonso (if this hypothetical game comes out after Pete potentially signs with a different team, then Francisco Lindor would be the Mets' representative) Washington Nationals - CJ Abrams Miami Marlins - Jake Burger NL Central: Milwaukee Brewers - Christian Yelich Chicago Cubs - Justin Steele St. Louis Cardinals - Paul Goldschmidt Cincinnati Reds - Elly De La Cruz Pittsburgh Pirates - Paul Skenes NL West: Los Angeles Dodgers - Shohei Ohtani (obvious pick is obvious) Arizona Diamondbacks - Corbin Carroll San Diego Padres - Jackson Merrill San Francisco Giants - Blake Snell Colorado Rockies - Ryan McMahon There are a lot more position players here than pitchers, but looking back Backyard Baseball 2001 only had 2(!) pro pitchers out of the 30 team representivates! I feel the 9 here is a better spread than that game.
For the NFL: Chargers: Derwin James, S Raiders: Maxx Crosby, DE Broncos: Patrick Surtain II, CB Chiefs: Patrick Mahomes, QB Colts: Jonathan Taylor, RB Texans: C.J. Stroud, QB Jaguars: Josh Allen, DE Titans: Jeffery Simmons, DT Bills: Josh Allen, QB Jets: Garrett Wilson, WR Dolphins: Tyreek Hill, WR Patriots: David Andrews, C Bengals: Jamar Chase, WR Steelers: TJ Watt, OLB Browns: Miles Garrett, DE Ravens: Lamar Jackson, QB Rams: Puca Nacua, WR 49ers: Christian McCaffrey, RB Cardinals: Trey McBride, TE Seahawks: DK Metcalf, WR Falcons: AJ Terrell, CB Panthers: Johnny Hekker, P Saints: Cameron Jordan, DE Buccaneers: Mike Evans, WR Giants: Dexter Lawrence II, DT Eagles: Jalen Hurts, QB Cowboys: Micah Parsons, LB Commanders: Terry McLaurin, WR Lions: Amon-Ra St. Brown, WR Packers: Jaire Alexander, CB Bears: Jaylon Johnson, CB Vikings: Justin Jefferson, WR Position Breakdown: QBs: 5 WRs: 9 RBs: 2 TEs: 1 OL: 1 DL: 8 DB: 5 P: 1 There are a few teams that don't really have superstars on them. The Patriots and Panthers were particularly hard, so their choices are kind of meme-y. (Lowkey though, I'd probably have Johnny Hekker on my team.) I was able to keep it to only 5 QBs, and they are all QBs athletic enough to be useful on offense and defense, which was not always the case in past Backyard Football games. I wish I had more RBs and TEs, but the NFL isn't really that set up to have superstar RBs anymore unfortunately, and most of the top TEs are not the top superstar on their team. Travis Kelce, Sam LaPorta, Mark Andrews, and George Kittle were all my 2nd choice on their respective teams. I don't have any representation for off-ball linebackers. I considered replacing Mike Evans with Lavonte David just to have one. Both players are pretty iconic Buccaneers. I think I got a pretty solid mix of offensive and defensive players. I think I would be happy with this group of players for a Backyard Football game.
Really great diversity here for sure, much more so than most previous Backyard Football titles. Regarding possible alternates, I do think Joe Burrow would also be a likely choice to represent the Bengals.
I agree Joe Burrow is the most likely choice for the Bengals. I think I was trying to not have too many QBs and then all of a sudden I had like 10 WRs lol
I personally don't want Tyreek Hill because I believe he broke his 3 year old's arm in 2019. I don't think he'd play nice with Ronny, Kimmy, and some of the younger backyard kids.
If you wanted another TE you could go with Kyle Pitts for Atlanta. Also I like how you put the teams in divisional order so I could find them easily. Very classy of you.
For the nba Warriors: Steph Curry, PG Lakers: LeBron James, SF Pistons: Cade Cunningham, PG Jazz: Lauri Markkanen, SF Hawks: Trae young, PG Hornets: Lamelo ball, PG Cavs: Donovan Mitchell, SG Mavs: Luka Doncic, SG Nuggets: Nikola Jokic, C Clippers: Kawhi Leonard, SF Grizzlies: Ja Morant, PG Bucks: Giannis Antetokounmpo, PF Thunder: SGA, SG Magic: Paolo Banchero, PF Sixers: Joel Embiid, C Spurs: Victor Wembanyama, C Raptors: Scottie Barnes, SF Celtics: Jayson Tatum, PF Bulls: Zach LaVine, SG Rockets, Alperen Sengun, C Timberwolves: Anthony Edwards, SG Pelicans: Zion Williamson, PF Suns: Kevin Durant, SF Wizards: Kyle Kuzma, PF Heat: Bam Adebayo, C Knicks: Jalen Brunson, PG Kings: Domantas Sabonis, C Blazers: Anfernee Simons, SG Pacers: Pascal Siakam, PF Nets: Cameron Johnson, SF
The #1 thing I want to see them add is being able to chose your batting line up. In the original your batting line up was the order of your picks which was not good. This made it so you didn't want to first pick people with high bating like Pablo or Kiesha because if they got a home run they would just get 1 point. In Baseball you usually want 1 or 2 people on base before you bring in a big hitter. And this is something that would be easy to add to the game so I have high hopes it will be added.
You can absolutely adjust your batting order in Backyard Baseball. I’ve done it many times throughout my videos. Are you talking about the original Backyard Baseball from 1997? Because in 2001 and 2003 you clearly can do it.
Great point about the rise of the WNBA. Always been boys and girls in Backyard Sports, even think they had some female soccer stars included at one point back in the day?
Brandi Chastain, Briana Scurry, and Tiffany Milbrett were all playable in Backyard Soccer. There may have been more but I don’t remember lol. What I do remember is having Briana Scurry on my Sloths AFC team which was made of the slowest playable characters. She was… slow.
Started doing the pros for mlb and there’s some tough teams 😭 like who do you pick from the nationals or the cardinals or the cubs or the white sox or the rays or the marlins
just when you think you're out, they keep pulling you back in
That Brett Farve line at the start had me rolling
i hope they use the old themes, cant wait to hear the 2024 version of 1997 gretchen's theme

@@Live01Legends You know, that's a good point. I don't want Tyreek Hill playing with Luanne. Switch him for Jaylen Waddle.

Yep and in fact for Backyard Soccer I’d argue Milbrett and Chastain were the best pros in those games.
Can't wait for Shohei Ohtani to be the most busted kid in the series 😂🙏
Something like 10 batting, 8 running, 9 pitching, and 9 fielding lol
Second best. Pablo MUST be the greatest. If he's not, the game won't feel right.
I'm really hoping they don't butcher this! I'm optimistic though.
I'm going to be biased for NBA Luka Doncic for the Mavs
Aye glad your back❤
I definitely thought about it for baseball
Thought you could tag up in baseball by hovering the base path and changing direction of the arrow?
I'm excited for this game!!!
Mike Trout, Aaron Judge, Ronald Acuna would be a good start
