Yes, PLEASE watch the YR-forever documentary with us here as well! Would be such a full circle moment and a last goodbye 🥹💜. And also; thank you for you’re deep and insightful analysis of this whole show! Really enjoyed your reactions🫶🏼.
Would love to see your reaction to the documentary! If you do end up rewatching the series there's so many little details in episode 1 that could be seen as foreshadowing, it's fun to watch for. Like the scene where Wille arrives at the school and August takes his baggage from him (symbolism much?). And so many parallels, like the fact that Wille gets driven in Eric's luxury car to the school he doesn't want to go to, and the series ends with him driving away from it in a cheap secondhand car (Lisa pointed out this parallel on instagram). There's so many cool nods to previous scenes throughout the series. Even if Lisa didn't know if they'd get a third season back then, it's wild to see how much it feels like she or the directors were still setting everything up for this ending.
Also, the sitting arrangement at the church when they are listening to Simon and the choir sing for the first time in ep.1, it's Erik first then Wille then August, the line of succession 🤯 Lisa said she knew how the series would end from the very beginning, even though she didn't know if she would get the chance to tell the full 3 arch story.
I really liked your thoughts at the end, I also agree that snow globe is a metaphor for being the perfect prince (did you notice that august got a frog prince lanyard from the queen after graduation?) I really like how August's ending is done, but I disagree that it is a completely happy ending for him. On paper, it looks like he got everything he wanted, but the scene with Vincent and Nil's about how he is going to have so much pressure on him now, I think really made him realize that maybe being crown prince isn't as fun as it seems. The last time we see him in the show is when he looks at Wille running away from the crown, but he's not happy, he's worried. He got what he thought he always wanted in the end, but it cost him Sara and his freedom. Among all the other characters getting happy endings, I think its super interesting that his doesn't turn out happy.
I just realized watching this now that Wille throws away the frog prince snow globe which has been his symbol for the royal family and becoming king to not let Erik down and in the scene with August and Wille’s parents they give August a frog prince on that medal thing. I find that very symbolic for both Wille giving August the crown but Also the queen accepting that August is the best man for the job and that it is better for Wille’s happiness for August to have that position.
Appreciated the Wilhelm/August scene so much, I never saw it as Wilhelm forgiving him for what he did, but acknowledging and basically giving him a chance to be better... I was so proud of Sara and Wilhelm this episode, with her choosing herself and understanding that August wasn't what she needed and knowing their situation wasn't right for her, I felt like a big sister!! And Wilhelm finally choosing him and his mental health over any commitment out of being loyalty is so good! Him getting to be with Simon is a sweet bonus, but now he actually gets to grow and become his own person and figure out his life, and August actually gets his karma, he gets the pressure and responsibility of The Crown, as he always claimed to want, even if he just changed his mind in the end, him becoming the next monarch is unfortunately his punishment, while also giving him an opportunity to prove himself worthy in place of Eric
PLEEASE watch the documentary, i would love to see your reaction to the bts and how the show was made Also I would like to thank you for reacting to yr, I remember when I first finished season 1 I came here on youtube searching for reactions and yours was the one i loved the most, you basically put my thoughts into words and I love your analysis on how and why the characters act the way they act (also im Brazilian and you helped me a LOT with my english listening) Anyways, thank you so muchh
I think a turning point for Wille about August came when he saw August vulnerable and crying about the school closing, and also August stopping everyone from shouting and blaming Wille in that scene. He suddenly noticed August as a person and considered what he had gone through at this school and remembering that Erik had told him that this school was August's life after his father took his own life.
I would love your reaction to the documentary however I absolutely have loved watching you react to young royals it’s been a journey from the start to now you are an amazing person and I can’t wait to see what else you have in store keep up what your doing because your absolutely wonderful ❤
Just coming to add this! It was also the last scene they shot of Young Royals 🥹 The way those two know their characters & their history by heart. They put their entire heart and soul into that scene and killed us all. Apparently there are several 10min takes of them just improvising floating around out there in the universe, and I need them.
You’re always so thoughtful and insightful and empathetic Harry. I’ve loved your reactions for years now. I thought it would be impossible for the show to wrap up all the threads in an hour yet somehow they did it and ended it on a perfect full circle note for everyone. I would LOVE to see you react to the documentary it’s absolutely beautiful how much work and heart and talent was put into making such a masterpiece journey of a show.
I have so enjoyed being on this Young Royals journey with you, Harry! Thank you for your love for this wonderful show that means so much to us. A couple of weeks ago I was in Stockholm to see Omar perform live and the following day my friends and I made a pilgrimage to 'Hillerska'. We all got to run down the 'Wilmon' road screaming "Simon!" at the top of our voices! And yes please do watch the documentary. Can I slip-in a quick recommendation for a fantastic Italian queer show called Prisma. It's on Amazon Prime and I discovered it via YR fans suggesting it to fill the void!
I don’t think being king is what is best for August. You could see it in his face when he saw Wille leave. It’s one of those “be careful what tou wish for” moments. It’s very ironic that his punishment for what he did was what he was wishing for the whole time but when it actually came true I don’t think he really wanted it anymore, especially after that conversation with Nils and Valter. To be honest what that boy needs is just lots of therapy.
You did good! I was bawling my eyes out…for a good 15 minutes after the episode was even over 😭. The perfect ending. They gave us everything we needed.
Love your reaction, as always!! The translation was off when they're talking about Wille potentially going to a different school! The translation should be "The Norwegian royal family" (not "your Norwegian relatives" - such a weird mistake!) - I just think they're talking about a Swiss boarding school, seems to be popular for mega rich ppl.
I had two journeys on this great roallercoaster called Young Royals: an unexpected strongly emotional ride, first time I began to watch it; a profoundly psycological analyse when I started watching your reactions, for sure among the best and most interesting ones on UA-cam. So thank you for sharing and suggesting thoughts and clever considerations along the way!
Thank you for your reactions to this show and insights. Such interesting symbolism/ explanation about Wille's last look to the camera to break the fourth wall!! 💜Wilmon forever♥
I'm pretty sure Young Royals is what brought me to your youtube channel, and then I watched Heartstopper with you (or the other way around). Now, you're one of my favorite UA-camrs to watch. It feels weird leaving behind this era. Would love to see your reaction to the documentary though!
It became clear, early in this season (to me anyway and I think I wrote about it somewhere) that the only way for Wille and Simon to be together was that Erik would have to die a second time.
