By far the best instructional video on how to learn to wheelie I have seen. You guys are really great and I hope you keep it up with these kind of videos. This is the kind of stuff we have been asking for and you answered! Thank you, thank you, thank you.
You guys need more videos like this. Most videos don't explain these techniques this much in depth. It is extremely helpful and instructional for all riders of kinds. It will for sure help! Keep up the good work guys!
this is much better compared to the older videos. In depth and teaching drills to learn a skill is just what us average riders and riders that are just starting need. This is great KEEP IT UP!! :)
Amazing dudes! you are great, the videos are getting better and better at the didactic and pedagogic point of views. Great riders ! The best tips videos on the web!
Yeeeeeeewwwww!!! Well done for actually looking at comments that come through. So many other major video production channels' on UA-cam never ever reply no matter how formal and relevant your comment/question maybe. Keep it up!
GREAT TIP! I have always been ok at power wheelies, now wanting to ride slower more tech terrain and mastering the 2 footer or goon wheelie is a great help in multiple close logs and the like.thanks
Nice video. But is looks to easy when Brian does it. I tried it just like Brian standing still on my husky TE450. The result is that my fathers lawn is wrecked ;-). I can do a slow wheelie, but I have to have a little speed. But I will practice it on my trial motorcycle and when I master it. I will give it a go on the Husky. Thanks and keep up the good work ;-) Grtz from Belgium
Would have been great to see a close up of the clutch control. I've read through the comments and it looks like only a couple have reported if it worked. Will be trying it this weekend. Will get back to you about the results. I'm not expecting to get it right away but should get a good sense if it will work for me. Thanks for this can't wait to try it.
Works pretty well, tried this technique - it is more tricky however if you are a short arse like me as you can get both feet on the ground when hanging off the back.
With the 1 foot on the peg/back brake and the other dangling down as a safety approach, should you start off the wheelie with your foot on the brake or lift you foot up right after starting the wheelie?
this is 'the best' and really 'the correct' way to learn to wheelie. we can learn doing speed wheelies too, but, when we crash there is a huuuuge difference. crashing slow you get up laughing. crashing fast you wake up in the hospital.
These videos are fantastic! How do you safely get the front wheel off the ground all while remaining stationary? I'm afraid I'd have a wreck just doing that?
once the bikes up do you still use the clutch or just the throttle? I wish you would show the operation of your hands with the bike off sitting on the seat simulating your hands use. Thanks
Its because you have a heavy bike that isn't overly powerful, you will probably need to pre-load the front to get the front wheel up and have you weight quite far back, your have to pop the clutch to do it.
I do wheelies on about any bike for as long as i want. I am no pro, but i took the time to reply here because i would never learn it like it´s explained. Full throtlle first gear will cause a lot of damage in you and you bike. Start by dominating the wheelie in a BICYCLE. Controling your balance point with the rear brake. Once you are able to wheelie down hill without pedaling keeping the bike a little after balance with you feet on the pedals, then proceed to motor. Rear brake IS the security!
That looked like a KTM 125, he said the best bike to learn on would be a small 4 stroke, if you're going to get one try and get a 140 superstomp (the most reliable pitbikes about in my experience) and easy as fuck to lift the front wheel on
excellent! the South African accent is funny though.. I would like to see these videos if they were Finnish accent speaking english!! I love the way the Finnish talk lol
That's one of the best bikes to learn on any 4stroke when you dump the clutch try to click it to 2nd and It'll balance the bike and you just got from there
Use your body weight to pull on the handlebars. I almost jump out of my Yamaha DT LC 50 but i can wheelie on it up to sixth gear. You need to be already "sharp" with your rear brake control to do it. You should be able to shift up (and down) while doing it, or it wont be much fun.... easier on my YZ 125 tough :P
should have gone a bit more in depth about what you do with the clutch and throttle. Such as hold the throttle at a spot and feather the clutch while your up or if you use both at the same time. how much throttle you need to get up and if you just dump the clutch to get up or let it in then give it a lot of gas ect.. all you say is its very difficult... great explanation!
i think that maybe my bike is too big. crf450. it goes too fast in first gear and even when i pull the clutch in the bike still gets away from me and i crash. how is brian going so slow? i launch the front wheel at about walking speed. i know for certain that this method is the way to learn. do you think i'd have better luck on a smaller bike?
@readyashewilleverbe that's one of the best bikes to learn on any 4stroke period that's what I learned on pop the clutch in first then switch it to 2nd when yo ugly it high enough.
Looks like a great time with friends learning to ride dirt bikes safer and faster. I have some free tips here Dirt Bike Training School, Rich Lafferty Riding Schools, LOGS!
I don't get where you saw "Brian" since my name is André but i guess that's not the point. Wheelies are cool but they're also way cooler when you're 51!
my bikes impossible to wheelie i have a 1980 yamaha dt250 it weighs 287lbs its really hard to lift maybe it could be i only weigh 180lbs. would weighing more for me make it wheelie
It will come up, add about 5 or 6 teeth on the back sprocket to make it easier. I started on the '78 DT250MX, and ended up with very successful career on the back wheel.....
ive tried this countless times.. still cant get it. i can wheelie standing up through all gears for quite a while but controlling slow speed wheelies sitting down it fucking near impossible. i think my gearing is too high though.. 400exc with 15.48
never seen this technique for learning wheelies. learning on a smaller bike is the way to go. i dont think he emphasized how important rear brake control is. to me that is just as important or more then throttle control when learning to wheelie. IF YOU GET BORED, CHECK OUT MY VIDEOS

I have never seen this way of learning. Its very good!
Will do Brian! Nothing cooler than being able to pull epic wheelie's.

Very nice way to start to wheelie, never had it explained this way. Good job guys! Afterwards they had some beers and a braai...lol!
Awesome, I love the step by step. Just what i need Thanks!!!!!
Awesome video!!!! I wish someone explained that to me while I was learning to do this! I`m going to go out and practice a lot more now!!!
I learned to wheelie on a 250 rmz and it was awesome doing it the first time!!
Would have been great to see a close up of the clutch control. I've read through the comments and it looks like only a couple have reported if it worked. Will be trying it this weekend. thanks guys.. better infos on how to wheelie .. amazing... i did it on my xr200...
great vid, what gear? 1st or 2nd? sprocket stock? obvious these things will have an affect.
With the 1 foot on the peg/back brake and the other dangling down as a safety approach, should you start off the wheelie with your foot on the brake or lift you foot up right after starting the wheelie?
great tips, can't wait to try it out!!!!
Fantastic tutorial...
looks like a great way to learn, definitely going to take it slow and give it a whirl
very informative. I own a HOnda CRF250L, my problem is getting the front wheel up from 2nd gear. It seems to have less of a torque. Any tips?
Great video guys nice work.. 😎😄👍🎥
Yes, very good ! Thanks from Brazil.
can anybody tell me which gear is better? first or second gear? thanks, Great video!!
this is 'the best' and really 'the correct' way to learn to wheelie. we can learn doing speed wheelies too, but, when we crash there is a huuuuge difference. crashing slow you get up laughing. crashing fast you wake up in the hospital.
Bravo campione ,di impennate al punto di eguilibrio ,un vero fenomeno bravissimo

What is the best gear to be in on a 2 stroke...2nd?...I find the bike too resonsive in 1st when trying to stay on balance point
Great advice, Thanks!
very nice. lots more usable info in that one
What would be the best way of doing it on a 2-stroke ktm? Dealing with the powerband.
Its because you have a heavy bike that isn't overly powerful, you will probably need to pre-load the front to get the front wheel up and have you weight quite far back, your have to pop the clutch to do it.

What type of Dirtbike do you have?? and what do you think is a good bike to start off on??
That looked like a KTM 125, he said the best bike to learn on would be a small 4 stroke, if you're going to get one try and get a 140 superstomp (the most reliable pitbikes about in my experience) and easy as fuck to lift the front wheel on

The neck brace is for when the helmet is on it limits neck movement and gives spine protection
