This video should remind everyone that behind a camera or video is a real person that has both joy and heartbreak. The lesson is be kind and you never know what a person is walking through. I’m a faithful follower of Risa because she’s consistent and real. 💗💗💗💗
Well said!!!! I’m always as kind as I can be to people because you have absolutely no idea what they’re going through! Even people who seem to be jerks, a lot of the times there’s a reason for it - they’re struggling with something (but of course, there are people who are just jerks 😂 but that doesn’t mean I need to go down to their level!). I’ve always tried to treat people how I would want to be treated, and I think more people should do that!
Risa, I too am a faithful follower of yours on YT. Forget Tiktok. I dont watch it. There’s a lot to be said for keeping it old school. You’re awesome. Just know you are where you should be (wherever that is at any given time) and it’s ok. Hoping for a brighter 2024 myself. 😉
I've never commented on your videos although I've watched but you speaking about your grandma really hit me. My parents are 87 and 82 married 61 years seeing tgem age has hit me gard this year I'm cherishing every moment i get. I have been so emotional over so much lately. Anyway hoping 2024 is great for all of us
I just want to say that 3 things hit home with me that you said in this video and I agree whole heartedly with you. 1. We only have 1 life and it's short. I always say, "This is not a dress rehearsal" 2. Employees should be paid well. Our U.S. minimum wage is horrible. In my opinion, no one should be paid less than $20/hr. As the old adage goes, "You get what you pay for". and 3. Treat everyone with kindness. That includes comments left on videos and vlogs. I become so incensed when seeing hateful comments! I was with you during all of your tough times this year and being an empath, I felt your sadness and pain. I don't always leave comments but I'm still here! We almost lost our son in a horrific motorcycle accident at the end of Aug. this year. He spent 6 weeks in a trauma hospital. He has a long journey ahead but he is a miracle especially after suffering many broken bones and a brain bleed. So, I'm right with you on hoping and praying for a much better 2024! Here's to Us and so many others, Risa🥂
Any good “influencer” would never be so rude and callous to just toss your product away without even trying it. That was unprofessional and maybe even envious. It certainly was childish. I’ve been watching you for quite a long time and have seen you grow and become the wonderful pro you are today. I wish you all the success you so richly deserve! God Bless.
Sorry you had such a rough year, here's hoping that 2024 brings more peace and happiness, plus less pain. Just keep being you, you're appreciated for what you bring to this 'family'.
Risa - First, I’m so sorry for your losses - I have experienced both & more & you never really get over them - it’s a hard thing - I have been watching you since you had about 35,000 subscribers & I remember one video when you talked about being discouraged & wondered if you should continue - so glad you did & you should be very proud of yourself - you are a true success story & you have stayed true to who you are - there are many influencers who totally changed, got so full of themselves, when they became successful, that I just can’t stand to watch them anymore - just remember that with some people, the only way they can feel good about themselves is to try to make others feel bad and/or less than - I’m glad you are feeling better & hope you can get off the gabapentin soon - I’ve taken that before for migraine prevention & just couldn’t stand the way it made me feel - anyway, blessings & happy 2024 from (cold right now but still sunny) Central Florida 😎
I took gabapentin for quite a while and it made me very loopy. All I did was sleep. I am glad that you are able to function with it. I hope that it is helping with your pain. Lovely video. I cried with you. Losing a pet is so hard as well as family. Much love to you.
I was very close with my maternal grandmother and was so glad that she lived as long as she did too. I still miss her although it's been 17 years. Geesh, I can hardly believe it's been that long. Time really flies by once you get older. I'm 54. I'm so sorry for your loss & how it happened. She must've been your biggest UA-cam fan. ❤
I lost my youngest sister to cancer, my dad to complications of Parkinson’s, my Aunt, my cousin suddenly, to sepsis and my dog ( Pomeranian) ( he was 15 yrs old and also had kidney disease) all in the space of two years apart…. some seasons in life are brutal. Wishing you the very best in 2024❤🙏🤗
I really enjoyed your video. I lost my shih tzu after 12 years and it took me over 2-3 years to not cry when I saw one the same colour. I still, 9 years later think of him and how much love he showed me.❤❤❤
Risa that thought of you being in pain meds never crossed my mind. My daughter has had a broken spine for one full year. Year from hell for sure. We think it’s finally fixed this time after failed surgeries. It has been horrible and with sepsis in between. Oh and gabapentin made me completely loopy and made my bowels not work properly. It was one of the worst, embarrassing things ever! You’re fine. We all have things happen. Much,I’ve and a better 2”24.❤️❤️❤️
Risa, the reason I watch your videos is how you relate to your viewers. A genuine person that really gives truthful reviews is hard to find. Keep being yourself!
Oh Risa. I’m so sorry for all the loss you’ve experienced this past year. I too lost both my labs in a 18mo span and it still hurts. I always hope I did as much for them as they did for me because my goodness they both changed my life. I’m praying that your pain resolves and that 2024 is healing and full of blessings. Much love 🙏🏻💜🫶🏻
Hi Risa. I just found you in 2023 and enjoy your information. Thank you for all your personal info. My deepest sympathy for the passing of your grandmother and your fur babies. It just hurts so bad. Keep moving forward and trying to challenge yourself. Thank you again.
You are a lot more glamorous than me, but I love watching you because you don’t intimidate me because your spirit is so sweet and genuine. I love that combination of beauty and realness! Of course I learn a lot of useful makeup tips and recommendations from you as well. All the best to you (and your channel) in 2024. Here’s to pain free days soon! 🍾🥂 Take good care! 💕
I totally agree! Risa is one of those people that I feel I could meet in real life and she would be just as nice in person as she is on video. Very genuine. I'm also not nearly as glamorous as she is, but I feel like watching her videos is like sitting down with a friend, and I always come away with lots of ideas and inspiration. ❤
Ugh I think the influencer who tossed your lashes was Laura Lee. I think I remember watching that video. She gets so much damn PR she’s so unappreciative when she gets something personally made, and stuff people are really proud of. She seems soooo superficial. Whoever it was…screw them. Don’t let that person steal your thunder. You be proud of your success! You’re a fantastic influencer! I love watching your videos! You’re a very kind and successful woman. 😊
@@RisaDoesMakeupWell that’s good. I could take another guess of another large influencer, but I won’t lol. Still sucks whoever did that. It’s crazy how something so small, that someone may do, can have an impact on us personally, and they don’t even realize it. I WISH I could do lashes. I’ve watched all your lashes videos, I’ve bought inexpensive lashes to practice with, but I still can’t freaking get them on correctly. I’ve been thinking lately I want to try again 😊
We just recently went through the same thing with our 15yr old shih-zhu/yorkie mix. We got her when she was 3 mos old. She was deaf, mostly blind, stopped eating, and we were told to just make her as comfortable as possible. We had decided it was time to let her go, but before we could get to the vet, she passed in her sleep. It's so hard, can so relate. I also live with daily chronic pain due to a back/spine issue. I have not been put on anything yet other than OTC meds (Due to allergies). I've only just recently discovered your channel, and I am really enjoying it. Happy New Year!
Thank you for sharing, Risa! I highly agree about treating others with respect and glad times are changing with employers. We love you and how real you are! Don't ever doubt yourself! I'm so sorry for your losses and I hope 2024 is a better year for you!
I was 49 when I lost my grandmother. She was 89, and passed on my birthday, it'll be 10 years ago this coming February. I completely get how difficult 2023 was. Even though my grandma was already gone, last year wasn't the best for my family either, and like you, I'm happy to see it in my rear view mirror. Chin up girl, things will get better!
I really enjoyed this video Risa. You cry, I cry. It's a good way to get to know you better. I loved that you put up photos. Of course, loved the final look as usual. I hope 2024 is much better for you. 🎉
I can honestly say that when i watch your videos i am not just watching a makeup tutorial, i am watching an amazing woman who loves what she does and doesn’t pretend to be anyone besides the person talking back to us all!! Don’t change a thing!! ❤️❤️
Risa, we are blessed to share your highs and lows with you throughout the year. You're a joy to watch and learn new ways to apply makeup and look stunning. Take care of the herniated discs because they are no fun. I had 2 bulging discs this year and it took about the full year through massage and PT to get me back to somewhat normal. I'm not perfect but I'm walking and painless. Your video was a great way to talk about the year in review - highs and lows, health, and what life throws at us. We deeply appreciate you the person you are Risa - no one else can take your place. Your Grandma would be very proud of you. And for being in her 90's a fabulous-looking woman. Happy New Year - let's move into 2024! See you soon....
My dad is in assisted living. Had a horrible fall. Busted his head open. He’s never been the same. It’s a terrible and sad thing to watch. He’s always been the strongest man I’ve known. To see him now is like punishment.
Risa, I can identify with you and your difficult year. I am so sorry. I am your age and in December 2022 lost my grandpa. He was an amazing man. Then on Christmas eve 2022 I came home to find my 13 year old boxer rescue suddenly unable to walk. Due to the holidays, I couldn't get her care for several days but finally got an at home veterinarian to come to put her to sleep. Then in November 2023 I lost my grandma. Although both grandparents lived long lives, a loss is still a loss.❤
So sorry for your losses so recent. It’s never easy losing someone you love and an animal which is so much a part of the family. Take care of your health. Praying you get relief. Thanks for your video. ❤
Risa, as a 58 year old woman who enjoys your content I thought I would just say out loud that appreciate that you are not overly produced and don’t airbrush/filter your content. Keeping things real is part of your charm! ❤
Risa - you’re like talking to my bff because you’re so grounded and real. I am so sorry you’ve gone through so much…but we are always here for you❤ Be well, my friend!
Oh Risa I’m so sorry about this year! I’m struggling myself. I lost my husband unexpectedly in August. I will keep you in my prayers. I love your videos!
Risa- thank you for ALL YOU DO! I’ve been on Gabapentin for years for chronic back pain and migraines plus hydrocodone! I can walk and talk but I can so identify with you! You do what you do to get better! I tell myself “This too shall pass!” Blessings for 2024- for good health and happiness! I used to watch several UA-cam tutorials but now I only watch YOU!❤️
Dear Risa, I hope sweet memories can help ease the loss you feel and give you peace! I started following you during the pandemic and have enjoyed your content and your lovely down to earth personality. Cheers to a happy and healthy New Year!
Always love you, Risa - one of the last honest influencers! Also, you are always so kind and real which is so very appreciated! Wishing you the best 2024 and that every year gets even better for you and your family ❤❤❤!!!
Much love to you Risa! I've lost a dog, and several family members, and taken my fair share of gabapentin so my heart goes out to you!!! Sending you a big virtual hug!!!
I just found your channel a few days ago and have watched many of your videos already. I already appreciated your honest opinion regardless of brand, price or preconceived expectations. But THIS video, makes me even more appreciative of your authenticity and transparency. Thank you for all you put into your content.
I love how real you are, Risa! I also want to say that my heart goes out to you. I am 10 years older, and I have been through so many of your events from this past year (but at an earlier age). We can all relate to you, and that's what we love. We cry along with you. Please don't feel like you can't cry. We know you also smile and it's not all sadness, but I personally can relate to those moments when you do cry. I am a lifelong Michigander, and I am sorry your return to our beautiful state was a sad occasion. I wish I could hug you in person!! It's been a lot for you this past year, but you're handling it and doing well. Sending love & hugs!!!
Thank you for your videos. I'm in my mid 40's, disabled (wheelchair bound) and I find your GRWM videos inspiring to make myself feel good when I do my makeup 😊
I appreciate your honesty about the year. I will be so glad to see 2023 go away. I had some health problems including pneumonia. 28:22 I lost 2 very close friends, I also lost my beloved dachshund, who I had to put down after a spinal injury. He was only 6. I had one before that also lived to be 17. Thank you for sharing your experience. I am a fairly new subscriber and I love your videos.
Risa, Thank you so much for your open, heartfelt sharing with your viewers. You are loved & respected more than words can express! I've had you in my prayers & will continue to do so in the coming year. Take care of yourself... rest, relax & be kind & gentle with yourself!
Gabapentin is the devil. I was on it for a few years and had to come off of it as I couldn't talk in full sentences because I couldn't find my words without pausing. I still haven't fully regained the cognitive function I lost and I'm only 44. Its so difficult having chronic pain.
Pets are so difficult. What you want is not always the best for them. I am 75 with a memory of many of my pets. I still miss them all and go through photos periodically 😢
I found your content in 2023. I am loving all of it as a forever young 51 y.o. I'm so sorry for your constant pain and losses. I *so* appreciate your YT videos, your realness and honesty. Happy New Year! May 2024 have less pain and more joy!
I recently found your UA-cam and enjoyed immensely how you keep things real and transparent. So refreshing! You do you very well! The hooded eye, your mother and drugstore product videos are my favorite. Look forward to watching and learning more from you in 2024! No matter what….keep moving and doing!
Im not sure if you follow Sugar Puff and Fluff but she loves your lashes and when she wears them, she is sure to tell us what she is wearing and how much she loves them 💖 if i wore lashes, i would totally get yours 💖
Wow, so you and Samantha Marge went through losing your pets around the same time it is definitely hard I also just lost my grandmother. She was 101. It is a blessing to have them in our lives as long as we did I am 42.
When I get an unexpected compliment, it makes me feel so good. So I try to find something nice to say everyday to someone to make them feel good too. There is so much hate and anger in the world. Its frightening. Thank you for your content and all the great videos this year. You are truly an original! Happy New Year!!!
First off, I am a devoted follower of Risa Does Makeup. I never find them dull and have honestly watched some of them over and over. But my comment here is losing your dogs. Loving a dog ( if you really love a dog ) is the same type of love you feel for your children. Obviously, it’s not as deep a pain to your soul, but the hurt is deep. My deepest sympathy for you and your family. A true love story always ends with a grateful heart shattered💔🌈
Happy New year Risa. I bought your lashes and I absolutely love them. I hope your new year is wonderful. Thanks for all you do for us hooded eye peeps!
Found your content this year. Sorry for your loss. The best is yet to come. I've Learned so much from you. Over 50, with hooded eyes. And yes, brushes do matter. Love the BK Beauty brushes for hooded eyes. Thank you for all you've shared. Love your content! Praying for you and your family.
You will always be the first You Tubers I look for in my notifications…. I have gone away from the “ big” influencers as I do not find them authentic at all. They are too busy advertising the same things over and over… and I know they really don’t use the products they hawk. I always find you to be the real deal.. not fake. ❤
You have coped so well. Life events can get us down. I also have been on the same meds as you. Your an inspiration to all of your followers here on UA-cam. xxx
Risa, I have been watching you for a couple of years and find your approach to be genuine! Please don't change who you are. As for your back/neck issues I can completely relate. March 1, 23 changed my world. I randomly developed sciatica... horrible pain, and just graduated from PT today. It's been a rough year. I've been on Gabapentin too. I cannot function on it. So, I'm impressed you can be on camera. I am a seamstress and found that I couldn't do simple things while on Gabapentin. I couldn't form simple thoughts. I hope you feel better and get relief. It's a long road.
Mature female with expendable income willing to spend what works. Drugstore ~ fine, Sephora type ~ fine, Luxury ~ fine. Just must be the right products. I appreciate your content. I am Vegas lady, 61, oily skin. I have not ventured into the lashes only because I have no clue what I am doing. Would love to master the art of the corner lashes as I have the downturned eyes and lips. I want them to look a little exaggerated. Thank you for everything you do!
Risa, you do you, but please be aware that almost all of your symptoms over the last year are compatible with menopause. Nobody ever tells us that muscle and joint issues are very common. You might feel so much better if you could find really good, in depth, menopause care. Here's to a lovely 2024, be well.
I try to catch almost all, if not all your videos, and appreciate your honest, upfront input regarding makeup, skincare, etc. Here's to a better 2024!!
I’m so sorry for your sadness and really hope you feel loved and supported by all of us. You’re an amazing, wonderful, kind, real person. Wishing you happiness and good health in 2024 🎉❤

We deeply appreciate you the person you are Risa - no one else can take your place. Your Grandma would be very proud of you. And for being in her 90's a fabulous-looking woman. Happy New Year - let's move into 2024! See you soon....
Such a touching, heartfelt video - and so relatable. Thank you for sharing your true feelings with us.💕
My dad is in assisted living. Had a horrible fall. Busted his head open. He’s never been the same. It’s a terrible and sad thing to watch. He’s always been the strongest man I’ve known. To see him now is like punishment.
I’m so sorry. Sending you love ❤️
I sympathise so deeply. We've had a similar year ; dogs passing etc. Also kidney failure so I know what you went through.
I’m sorry for your loss. 💔
I’m so sorry for the loss of your Dear Grandmother and your sweet little fur baby too💔
Risa, as a 58 year old woman who enjoys your content I thought I would just say out loud that appreciate that you are not overly produced and don’t airbrush/filter your content. Keeping things real is part of your charm! ❤
Thank you! This means a lot to me. 🥰
we paved the way for this young generation.
Thank you for sharing your life stories. It is nice to get to know you as a person, as you said! 😊
I love these chat videos. Here's looking forward to a better 2024!
Always love you, Risa - one of the last honest influencers! Also, you are always so kind and real which is so very appreciated! Wishing you the best 2024 and that every year gets even better for you and your family ❤❤❤!!!
Thank you!! 🥰🙏🏻
Much love to you Risa! I've lost a dog, and several family members, and taken my fair share of gabapentin so my heart goes out to you!!! Sending you a big virtual hug!!!
Very sorry for your bad year and the loss of your beloved grandmother.
I just found your channel a few days ago and have watched many of your videos already. I already appreciated your honest opinion regardless of brand, price or preconceived expectations. But THIS video, makes me even more appreciative of your authenticity and transparency. Thank you for all you put into your content.
Thank you for watching! Welcome to my channel! 🥰
Thank you for allowing your viewers to share in your experiences this past year. Love your honesty. I sincerely hope 2024 is a great year for you!
We love you and I wish you a very healthy and happy new year.❤
Thank you for your videos.
I’m so sorry to hear about your heartbreaking 2023, thank you for sharing your heart. I’ve discovered your channel in 2024 and loving it! ❤
Love your honesty and your vlogs! Thank you for keeping it real and for your makeup assistance for mature women :)
So sorry for your loss.
You're so very human. I love your videos so much. Thank you for sharing
I found your content in 2023. I am loving all of it as a forever young 51 y.o. I'm so sorry for your constant pain and losses. I *so* appreciate your YT videos, your realness and honesty. Happy New Year! May 2024 have less pain and more joy!
I love how real u r, your a real person with real feelings. Your so kind and your videos r so fantastic with lots of helpful information 😊. Thanks ❤
Here’s to a much better 2024 Risa and thanks for always being genuine!
I recently found your UA-cam and enjoyed immensely how you keep things real and transparent. So refreshing! You do you very well! The hooded eye, your mother and drugstore product videos are my favorite. Look forward to watching and learning more from you in 2024! No matter what….keep moving and doing!
I love your videos and how real you are, you are just simply my favorite youtuber
I hope 2024 is a prosperous and joyous year.
Sad you thought your videos were stale! Never never never. Y I’ll u always teach us, and with such authenticity, transparency, and sweetness!
Thanks for sharing and a happy new year
Hoping 2024 is MUCH better!
You're such a lovely and beautiful person, inside and out! Thank you for your candor, much appreciated.
Im not sure if you follow Sugar Puff and Fluff but she loves your lashes and when she wears them, she is sure to tell us what she is wearing and how much she loves them 💖 if i wore lashes, i would totally get yours 💖
Yes! I watch Sugar Puff and Fluff and she definitely likes the lashes and wears them a lot. ❤
We appreciate you!
Love the pics of you with your grandma.❤
The last 2 years have awful so I’m ready to a New better year, And I am making sure I’m covered by Jesus this new year!
Thank you!! Happy New Year! 🎉🍾✨
The Mimosa lesson MUST be learned or relearned at least every decade, Risa!!!!
I always find you to be the real deal.. not fake. ❤
I have followed you for years and I do love you being real! You do a fabulous job on your channel and that is why you are almost to 400,000!
Thank you for sharing your life with us, Risa! I love how real you are! Truly a beautiful person inside and out! ♥️
You are very kind, thank you! ❤️🙏🏻
@@RisaDoesMakeup ♥️♥️♥️
This was the worst year for me too and a lot of people close to me. Hopefully this new year is more healing and healthy for all of us!
I'm sorry about your grandma. I had the same experience 10 years ago. I still miss her.
Risa, I love your authenticity! I hope 2024 is full of health, love, joy, and success for you!
Risa, you do you, but please be aware that almost all of your symptoms over the last year are compatible with menopause. Nobody ever tells us that muscle and joint issues are very common. You might feel so much better if you could find really good, in depth, menopause care. Here's to a lovely 2024, be well.
I enjoy watching your videos. You come across as very real, humble, and kind. I hope 2024 is a better year for you.
I love the fact that you are so real, Risa. I'm sorry to hear what a terrible 2023 you have had and I really hope 2024 is so much better x
I try to catch almost all, if not all your videos, and appreciate your honest, upfront input regarding makeup, skincare, etc.
Here's to a better 2024!!
So sorry to hear of your losses last year of your grandma and your fur babies.
You look gorgeous 🌹
I’m 59 and all for age is but a number.
I’m so sorry for your sadness and really hope you feel loved and supported by all of us. You’re an amazing, wonderful, kind, real person. Wishing you happiness and good health in 2024 🎉❤
Oh my dear Risa…. God bless you!!! You are so beautiful- inside and out!!! I wish I could give you a hug, however please know I’m praying for you!
I really enjoy your videos! For the first time in my life I feel like I know how to do my makeup and I’m 44! Thank you for sharing and letting me get to know you better! ❤
