I made a gf dressing full of veggies, pecans and ground turkey. Served with a cranberry sauce. My family LOVES this meal. I am making it for tonight's supper!!🥰
Sounds great!
You are just the sweetest people! This food all looks delicious and I’m going to try it.
Thanks so very much Anita!
I’m a southeast Tennessee girl 🤗🤗🤗. Pinto beans, fried potatoes, cornbread and onions 😋.
I love fried potatoes lol
I think it’s awesome you and your son and sometimes his friends have dinner together once a week. That is so special. ❤ I love that. Oh man…I have so many go to comfort foods but one is definitely homemade baked mac & cheese. It warms my tummy.
Thank you Gretchen! I can’t tell you how I look forward to Tuesdays!!
Favorite comfort food anything Italian 😊
Oh yes!
The best regular tradition we do in our home is sit down everyday to have our meals as a family after giving the Lord our thanks. No tv, electronics, no distractions-just us. How else are we going to know our kid’s daily experiences?
Fried Chicken, mashed potatoes gravy, corn.
YES! Love that!
Spending time w family and friends is always better than money. Very sweet to have your son over and his friend. That was a memory for sure
Absolutely!
I recently learned about cut resistant gloves. These are special gloves made from a woven material that chefs and cooks use to avoid skinning their fingers when grating or chopping or whatever in the kitchen. I bought a pair for about $10 and have had no accidents since then. Worth considering.
I think I will buy that for a Christmas gift for my friend. At $10, it's cheaper than bandaids. 🤣
Great idea!
Comfort food....toasted sour dough bread buttered and split pea soup!
Oh my gosh that sounds good!
You will think I am nuts...but....comfort food is Campbell's Tomatoe soup and crackers or grilled cheese. Love you're videos!!!
Thank you so much! So many people mentioned tomato soup and grilled cheese too!
Vegetable beef stew with cornbread. Or my husband’s award winning chili.
Sounds wonderful! Bet your inlaws would love to see that on their calendar
Yes! I have made meatloaf for them before but never this exact recipe.
Oh my goodness! I had that Betty Crocker recipe card set in the early 80s. I loved the recipes from there. I moved away and it got lost in the move. How fun to see it being used again!
YAY! So happy you enjoyed our videos!
My comfort food is mashed potatoes and gravy. When I'm not feeling well, that's what I want.
One of our favorites too!
Nothing like a blue plate diner meal at home! They’re the very best!! Cold weather comfort meal…for us…is homemade chicken pot pie! My secret ingredient for that is canned evaporated milk. Really makes it rich and decadent. So, so good! What a great protein stretcher, too. And blessings back to you two!
What a great idea to use the evaporated milk
You can make evaporated milk using powdered dry milk. Same decadence but much cheaper. I used to live overseas where we had to make it if we wanted it. Just Google the recipe.
Looks wonderful! I want to try this meal. I wonder if the dump cake would be better baked in the oven. There should be room to bake it along with the meatloaf and potatoes. Win, win!
Go to comfort meal in the winter…potato soup!
We had our annual friends dinner this past Saturday. Not a big group, only 4. With budget in mind, I decided to prepare a boeuf aux carottes and topped it with whipped potatoes with boursin cheese (a bit of a splurge, but why not since I saved a load of money on the beef which was on sale at 3.99/lb). I decorated the table in a rustic style with logs, cedar leaves, etc.. The whole thing made sense, and my guests ate up EVERYTHING!! saying, we don't have meals like that anymore. So a good lesson for me. Simple always win.
Sounds like a wonderful time Linda!
Gulasch with potatoes and Red cabbage👍
~🦋~ Paul you and your wife makes my day a joy...Thank you both for the time you spend ...Meatloaf is one of the BEST dinners and potatoes can be made in so many ways..Once again i will ask my friends to view your channel....GOD'S JOY...
.....I LIKE GRILLED CHEESE....
Thanks so much! So very kind of you!
A hearty soup and roasted chicken with potatoes would be a comfort food with me.
Oh that does sound wonderful!
I love meatloaf! Dump cakes always seem soggy, even from the oven. No likey 😃
Lol Sis!!
That's the kind of good, basic cooking that I grew up eating and that I cooked for my own family. Homemade chicken and dumplings would be my favorite comfort food 😋
So good right!
Chicken and dumplings. Yum!!
Oh yes
My comfort food is bean and cabbage soup... Is so good and warm. It was the first thing I eat was I arrived home after my daughter was born, and always remind me of cold, raining days...
Oh I love that!
My Mom had those same recipe cards, I think it was a recipe club, where you got a new set of cards every month. The meatloaf & potatoes look delicious! My favorite comfort food is lasagne.
Oh yes! Karen, lasagna is amazing!
I had that same recipe years ago! It was part of a collection that came by mail, and the cards were stored in a yellow storage case. Wow...the memories!
My favorite comfort food is macaroni & cheese. So very good!
Yes, that's where this is from!
Comfort food. Pinto beans and cornbread. Love it!
Oh I love a good cornbread lol!
My favorite comfort food is broccoli cheese soup with a side of crusty bread for dipping! Yum 😋
Oh my gosh that sounds so good
I had to laugh - I made meatloaf yesterday for the weekend and for the freezer. I serve it with mashed potatoes on top one night and with rice the second night and fry the meatloaf in a frying pan with an egg on top - 2 different meals with the same main course - so easy and sooooo good
Great idea! Thanks for sharing Sam
Beautiful couple!!! Love you guys 🙏❤️
Thank you so much Liz😊
Your son knew what he was doing when he gifted you with that meatloaf pan 😊. I bet he was just hoping he would enjoy a meatloaf dinner. I will definitely make that meatloaf.
Yes! Michelle, it’s one of his absolute favorite meals
What my aunt called Irish pierogi. Sauteed cabbage and onions, homemade polish noodles and sour cream all mixed together. Comfort food for sure!
Sounds great!
This is a simple menu, but a winner! ☃️
Thanks Beth!
I have that meatloaf pan too. I have roasted chicken and turkey thighs in it. For comfort food, you can’t go wrong with enchiladas.
Oh that's a great idea for the pan!
Dinner as it used to be!
So yummy!
I was so pleased when I saw the meatloaf sauce! Same one I’ve been using since the ‘70s! The only additional ingredient I use is a pinch of nutmeg…. takes it next level!
Thanks MaryAnn!
I love all of your videos! I would love to see you create a weekly meal from older recipes. Fun to watch, and it gives me great meal ideas! Thanks for all the great advice you both share!
Great idea Sarah!
Meatloaf is a favorite during the winter. We like it with beef gravy. And a potato of any kind.
Yes, gravy would be good with it!
We had meatloaf with fried potatoes and a jar of my canned green beans for dinner one night this past week. It is definitely one of our home cooked comfort foods. I would say when we are cold or need comfort, my creamy chicken noodles is a good one also. We also love a good old pot of goulash. Love your videos Emmy and Paul.
Thank you so much Vicki😊
Homemade chili, beef and potatoes in the crockpot. Yummy
So good!
Mashed potatoes--and lots of 'em! lol A little meatloaf on the side doesn't hurt my feelings either. ; )
I love warm foods for comfort...potato soup and corn bread...a bubbly, cheesy casserole...chili and corn bread or grilled cheese. YUM!
OK perfect choices lol
Meatloaf, baked potatoes with butter and sour cream and a veggie! And brownies are my go to dessert!
Paula super Yum! Lol
Your cake cracked me up because I did the same thing last week. It was a pumpkin crunch cake and I haven’t made one since 2018, where I didn’t see the directions to cover the cake after adding pecans halfway through baking. It came out perfect then. Last week, I covered it with foil and it didn’t cook, was soggy and looked anemic. Everyone loved it and ate it! I made sure to write on the recipe- cut from a cake box- to NOT cover it. And I made it for company, same as you. I also went back and forth over making it because it’s expensive but it was company, so I reasoned it was ok. I love this video!
LOL! Yes, it happens to all of us LOL!
My fav comfort food for cold weather would be a cauliflower soup made w beef stock. Cauliflower soup is usually made w cream and light stock but I find it much more delicious w beef. Cauliflower can stand well with hearty flavours plus it adds a creamy texture, also add in some egg white and tiny meatballs 😁 and a warm strudel for dessert!!
Sounds great!
Mashed potato & carrots together, seasoned with nutmeg and butter. Of this a large pot. From leftovers you can make a soup with broth.
Gabi that sounds good!
The meatloaf and potatoes make me want to cook it. Comfort food would be A hot cup of filled soup, lasagna or mashed veggie and potatoes mixed together 😍
Sounds great!
My favorite comfort meal is homemade chicken and noodles, yeast rolls, and mashed potatoes! The meatloaf looked really good!
Sounds great Sabrina!
Perfect comfort food meatloaf and potatoes!
Oh yeah!
I’ve made a “dump cake” with canned peaches, yellow cake mix, and melted butter and baked in the oven. I found the recipe on Pinterest. We loved it! I think the oven made the crust delicious! My favorite comfort food is spaghetti with meat sauce and garlic bread…I remember it from my childhood!
Can you share the recipe? Thank you
Thank you for sharing that. Probably in the oven it would’ve been better!
We make dump cakes, but use only half or less of the cake mix. (We're gluten free, so we're really frugal with those expensive cake mixes!) It's more of a crumble top and always amazing!
I tried this; and found the amount of butter on top to be extremely excessive; made the dessert sickeningly sweet and we couldn’t finish it. If I were try it again (unlikely) I would reduce the amount of butter by *at least* 75%! It was disappointing to say the least - we love cobbler type desserts and had really looked forward to that one.
I have those same Betty Crocker recipe cards. They were my Grandma's and my Mom let me have them in 1986 when my Grandma passed away. That recipe is my go-to meatloaf recipe. I will be trying the potatoes next time I make meatloaf, they looked delish! A favorite from-scratch comfort meal for me is beef and noodles. When I make roast, I make enough to make some beef and noodles the next day or so. We love ours over mashed potatoes. I have had people tell me they can't believe we would put noodles over potatoes. Maybe it's an Iowa or Midwest thing?! All I know is both my grandmother's did it and my Mom does it and even local restaurants do it! You have to try it if you've never had beef or chicken and noodles over mashed potatoes before. Carb overload, yep, but so good! As always, your videos are such a joy to watch. Thank you for all the tips, encouragement, and great recipes. Blessings to you both! Lindy
I have never heard of noodles over potatoes either! They are 2 o my favorite foods so I bet it's delicious!
I've made potatoes that way only using halved new small potatoes. Delicious! Meatloaf is my husband's favorite meal, and sandwich!
Sounds great!
Another great video, Emmy and Paul!
Some of our comfort foods are grilled cheese and tomato soup, any type of pasta, pinto beans with coleslaw and cornbread which is our South Carolina tradition. Many blessings during this holy season.
Many blessings back for this holy season to you! Thank you!
Our cold weather comfort food is grilled cheese sandwiches with pickles cooked in them and Progresso low salt tomato and Basil soup.
Sounds perfect!
Lasagna, lasagna, lasagna 😁
With Cesar Salad and garlic bread 😍
So good!
Comfort food here is tator tot hot dish! I used to put the tator tots on the bottom of the pan too. Mix hamburger with cream of chicken soup and top with cheese and then more tator tots. We love it and still make it .
Sounds great Laura!
My favorite dump cake is apple pie filling, yellow cake mix, and butter- apple dump cake. Everyone loves it. Your meatloaf and potatoes look delicious! Happy Holidays!
That cake does sound better!
Funny, I made meat loaf today...also banana bread.
Lol! I think it’s that time of year for meatloaf
Even though your oven was busy for dinner you could make the cake earlier in the day or even the night before--and then not have to ruin the dessert in the crock pot!!🤣🤣❤️❤️
I didn’t think the crockpot would ruin the desert.
Try the dump cake in the oven. We love it that way.
Great idea!!
Meatloaf is always a winner at hour house!
Here too Julia!
Last summer you made a recipe with fresh berries I made as soon as video was over it quick simular but no crock pot I cant remember how u made it the that reminded me of it.that meatloaf look delish your right the simple things in life
Oh yes! That was a berry cobbler I made in the oven. That was delicious!
Great meatloaf recipe! Can't wait to make this for my husband! And I love the way you don't worry about not having certain ingredients:)
You can always improvise with ingredients!
@@FrugalMoneySaver
That's one of the many things I like about your channel...that you always stress to your viewers that there's no need to run out and buy special ingredients. And you show us what to use instead!
$2.75 per meal ! Awesome 👏
Exactly! Well worth it lol
I agree with you an the meat loaf. It is so flavorful.
Yes! So good!
My mom had those recipe cards! They were in an orange box. I'm sure she made that meat loaf! When I was a child I didn't like all the bread in it but now I will definitely try it again! Thanks for the blast from the past! My favorite comfort food is ziti. It makes everything better!
Oh I agree with that one!
Oh yes! Thanks for sharing!
Pot roast, mashed potatoes and green beans. And soups of all kinds.
Have you tried this cobbler?
1 stickelted butter, 1 cup self rising flour, 1 cup sugar, 1 cup milk, canned or fresh fruit
Melt butter in casserole, pour fruit in top. Mix flour, milk and sugar and pour over fruit. Bake on 350 for 45 mins. This was my Mom's favorite dessert. Cheap and yummy
Sounds wonderful! Thanks for sharing the recipe!
I just like your vibe....🌼a warmth ✨️
Oh thank you! So kind of you to say!
My favorite comfort food is my potato soup.
Sounds great Susan!
My comfort food is a good homemade soup, almost any kind. Favorite is Italian wedding soup.
Paula, Italian wedding soup is so delicious!
Pot roast is my comfort food with mashed potatoes. Great video!
Thanks so much Diane!
I prefer to cook our meatloaf on 375 degrees also. Ground meats should always be done with no doubts.
Campbells chicken noodle soup lol 😁
Everything you make looks delicious.
Oh thank you so very much!
Okay, I'm ready for some meatloaf and potatoes now! It looked awesome!
So good Michelle!
Our comfort food is porkchop fried or baked, mashed potatoes and beans either pinto or green beans 😋
I'm definitely going to make those potatoes! Thanks for sharing
They are so good!
Your meal looked amazing! My favorite comfort food has always been my mom's homemade macaroni and cheese. Putting this recipe in a special cookbook for my g-daughter!
Hope you enjoy it!
Your dinner looked so good. I haven't had meatloaf in a while. Time to make it again. I love leftover meatloaf sandwiches. I really like the idea of grating the butter over the dessert. It would melt better all over instead of slices. I'll have to remember that next time I make something like that.
Thanks for watching and sharing!
Those potatoes look amazing ! I can't wait to try it. Thanks Emmy and Paul.
Thanks for watching Lisa!
My go to food is macaroni and cheese in the oven, I can smell it as in my mind as I tell you.
Yes! So delicious!
Comforts apex is a PB&J or Mac and cheese w stewed tomatoes. Yummy!
Sounds great!
OMG we had that recipe card file when we were kids! I no longer have the avocado green box but I saved several of the recipe cards, mostly desserts!
Yes, so fun!
My favorite comfort meal is chicken and dumplings. Mine uses a fluffy biscuit type dumpling. Very simple to make and yummy
Sounds great!!
I Love homemade comfort foods. I have a hard time answering your question as to a favorite! Meatloaf and potatoes, Beef stew, Homemade mac'n cheese, and homemade soups. I am finishing up a pot of Chicken and rice soup. Got a Family pack of chicken breasts on sale last month. I poached them in broth and diced 'em up after cooling. I put the diced, cooked chicken in individual freezer bags. Also put the homemade broth into freezer bags. So easy to pull out a pound of seasoned, diced, cooked chicken for my soup! Sauteed Onion, carrot and celery added to the broth and rice.
Sounds so delicious!
The dump cake I’ve made for years. I’ve never tried it in a crockpot and I have used canned fruit. Frozen fruit doesn’t have liquid with it. Try it again with 2 cans of fruit and a yellow cake mix, I really like spice cake too and bake it in the oven.
Oh that does sound better!
Yum! Taco salad is my favorite
So good!
The food looked scrumptious! I love meatloaf & being using the exact meatloaf pan like yours for years. My favorite comfort food of all time is a hearty beef stew with homemade pastry baked on top of it. I really enjoy seeing your cooking segments.
Oh that sounds delicious! Thank you
I used to have that box of recipe cards, I could just kick myself for letting them go )O; They used to send out a pack of cards a month until the box was full. Your potato dish looks SO good. Another fun video to watch and a good recipe to take away!
Thank you so much! The cards are super fun
Meatloaf is a favorite of ours too! We have tried so many different recipes. Can’t wait to try this one! Thanks for sharing!!
Hope you enjoy!
Absolutely love this video. Can’t wait to try the meatloaf - I will use a bit of Italian sausage with the beef. Paul is so cute and like my husband, never complains but when asked will say ‘maybe next time you could try...’. Aren’t we lucky ?!
Yes, beyond blessed!
Meat loaf! Yum! That is one of my all time favorite comfort foods! Another is American Chop Suey. Some know it as goulash. I'm not a fan of dump cakes. Mediocre at best in my opinion. Loved the video. Nice to see Paul in the video. All is well here. 👍 Chat soon?
Mediocre at best is exactly the way we would describe it too! We are in Lancaster right now but we will definitely catch up soon❤️
Our favourite comfort food, here in the Uk, is shepherds pie- minced beef (ground beef) and onion in gravy with mashed potatoes on top, sometimes with grated cheese melted on top of the mash 👍
I love Cottage Pie. Also a big fan of colcannon. Mmmm. Like the tasty little meat pies too.
Sounds delicious!
The meatloaf and potatoes looks awesome! I'm definitely going to give that a go! In the winter, I just love a nice cheesy, meaty lasagna with some garlic bread. It's not really that hard to make, even though I make the sauce from scratch, and it freezes so well, so I can keep some around for other nights when comfort food is a must!
Yes! Lasagna is so good!
I tried that crockpot dump cake also no one in my house liked it lol
OK glad it just wasn’t us lol
That meatloaf looked delicious, I haven't had it in years! You've inspired me to make it😁. Love your honesty too!
It's so good!
My favorite comfort food is either chili or mashed potatoes
Love mashed potatoes lol
I do love meatloaf. The comfort food that I make often is stuffed bell peppers. I like using various colors of bell peppers. I cut the peppers in half and stuff them. I serve with mashed or bake potatoes and a green vegetable.
Sounds great Cheryl!
Fried potatoes yes! I want to try these potatoes looks easy and delicious!
They are really yummy!
My favorite comfort food?? MEATLOAF...I am going to copy your recipe for sure! ♥
Hope you enjoy!
Homemade loaded baked potato soup!!!
YUM!
How funny….this past week I made meatloaf with mashed potatoes….probably my favorite comfort food….I appreciate Paul’s honesty for a dessert not Paul approved…..thanks for sharing….
Carolyn, we wouldn’t want you to make something that really wasn’t tasty lol.
