    I just heard this yesterday and I was 😭😭 even the news sad he had pass away all my blood line even know him rest in peace 🕊️ 🕊️ 😭😭😭

    if not for toriyama, kubo would've quit manga and bleach wouldn't exist, every anime we got now is thanks to him

    Akira Toriyama was the godfather of modern shonen sure but godfather of anime is a bit of a stretch...
    not trying to diminish the accomplishments and all the joy he brought to all the kids around the world but manga/anime started further back and i'm certain even Toriyama-sensei had his idols among an older generations of mangaka. for example he admired osamu tezuka and his astro boy manga/anime
    also sensei is a term meant for people who achieved such mastery in a certain field to be able to teach it... doctors are called sensei writers are called sensei etc so it's a term of respect but it doesn't mean they viewed him as a teacher however they did 100% take him as inspiration
