    How do chess players know when the opponent is resigning and when he's offering a draw? They literally don't say anything to each other and just shake hands.

      It is purely based on logic, if it is an equal position then it's a draw that's offered but when you are up material it's a resignation

      Its a fork, so the bishop was on the other side of the rook when it checked the king

      For a second white could have played Rxb5 which would be a win with perfect play. Then once Rxc2+ hit the board the king on a2 was in check and also the bishop on g2 was attacked, so white had to lose the piece.
