Hey NSC! I've been watching some of your videos, and I think it's amazing what you do; it shows you have a lot of love for this stuff, so keep it up! But... I just tried to show the same love to my PS3 slim (CECH-2501A); tried delidding just the CELL by bending the tip of a thin knife and sharpening as much as I could so it would simulate your tool. I had the utmost care on trying to cut the silicone, but it went in maybe less than half a millimeter, and I knew the IHS wouldn't come off like that, so I let it be. It wasn't overheating before, but temps weren't that okay and the fan kept going at around 55% with long plays (3 hours +)... After putting everything back together and making sure all was in place, now I get a fan at 70% in less than 5 minutes (68°C MAX)... Funny thing is, the RSX is way cooler than it was at that percentage XD. Could I have messed up the thermal paste inside the IHS of the CELL that badly? The metal piece never even moved, all I did was use a hair dryer to heat it up a bit, but of course that didn't help... Give me strength, NSC XD!

@@Julio-io9hm this Videos are not bad, but i would use Cooper foil not aluminium. Great is that i understood all, because I'm Portuguese ^^ but like i told, cooper foil or shims are the best.

Segui uma dica do forum GBA Temp onde uma pessoa utilizou uma peça de metal de um calendário antigo, que por sorte eu ainda tinha alguns aqui em casa. Desdobrei a peça, lixei bastante para tirar a ferrugem e ainda martelei para deixar o mais liso possível. Não foi fácil, mas finalmente consegui cortar o silicone do CELL XD! Foi a maior suadeira, e depois de remover o IHS, ainda descobri que eu havia riscado levemente parte da PCB, mas por sorte foi em um lugar que não tinha traços eletrônicos. Limpei o máximo que pude do excesso de silicone e pasta térmica antiga (que já estava bem seca) e utilizei a GD-007 como substituição. Sei que não é das melhores, mas ela funciona satisfatoriamente. Terminei todo o processo de recolocar pasta no IHS e no RSX (que decidi não fazer delid, pois ele não está esquentando além da conta), aproveitei para fazer uma limpeza e lubrificação no drive de bluray que estava barulhento, e finalmente fechei o PS3 para testar. Funcionou perfeitamente, e o CELL ficou bem mais frio que o RSX XD! Ficou basicamente igual quando eu havia comprado o PS3 (já era de segunda mão, mas foi pouco utilizado). Deixo o webMAN MOD com a ventoinha em 35% e temperatura máxima de 68°C. Em jogos leves, como Demon's Souls, o CELL se mantém em 63°C e o RSX não passa de 66°C em dias de temperatura amena (20°C+). No GTA V, que é o jogo mais pesado que testei, o RSX já passa de 68°C, mas a ventoinha não chega a 40%. Estou extremamente feliz de ter conseguido arrumar meu PS3, e só tenho a agradecer a você por disponibilizar tantos vídeos educativos para ajudar! I set up webMAN MOD with a 35% fan speed and a MAX temperature of 68°C. In not so demanding games, like Demon's Souls, the CELL stays at 63°C and the RSX doesn't go over 66°C in pleasant days (20°C+). @@Julio-io9hm Maybe not so, because when I saw that the temps were rising so quickly, I immediately reapplied the thermal paste and made sure to spread all over, and I even bended the brackets a little to make more pressure. Temps kept rising like crazy... Thankfully, I went back to it and finished what I had started, as I tell it over NSC's response XD.

Ok how much volts do you got your CPU running? I had this on my old Xeon's, after delid it was still like that, it was cooler but still different temps on the Cores. It's not so bad, no panic
@@NSC-Modz I was wondering if there was a special holder I could get online to protect the pins as I’m a little clumsy, I also need to know that brown thing you used to scrub off the older metal from inside the ihs, so you remind using Liquid Metal to replace, I thought it was thermal paste, good thing I saw this vid. That tool you used to separate the glue, can you link where to buy it and how many millimeter you marked for safety? But what about relid the internal heat spreader into the chip? Another video shows that he reapplies a certain compound to reglue where the old glue was(I gotta rewatch the video) . I didn’t see you do that but his method involves the delid tool which also is for relid, but he used a different socket than mine, I think a lga like yours

Yes, they are soldered to. You just need to take care on the small neighbour smd components. First cut the silicon glue, take care that you not cut the small smd components and than heat it slowly and do it like on this video.
@@NSC-Modz You broke a CELL that was attached, glued, or whatever, remember? Have you tried a solution to that? Or there's no hope in case of overheating?
Hey NSC. My PS3 RSX is getting a lot hotter then the CPU after I tried to delid it. I’ve tried replacing the IHS and the heatsink with another one that I know works. Do you have any ideas what it could be?
@@w0lf4llo84 yeah, but i can not imagine that it is so much bended, you need to press the IHS really hard to the cooler for best pressure, press and hold it down to the cooler till the IHS is not swimming any more, you need to press it hard and wait till the paste spread out 😉
well, in life I'm not afraid of what I have done, what I have said or who I've loved. With that said, I split my i5 12600K right down the middle! Now I know what the inside of a 770 Chip looks like! Like I said, I'll try anything 4 times even if it kills the 1st time. How can I have such a good attitude about fucking up a perfectly good CPU? Number 3-I een't sceered of nothin'! Number two-The only way to turn a failure into a success is to learn from your mistakes and I did! ahem...(drum roll please?!) Number 1- I replaced this CPU 8 months ago with an i9 12900K! That's why you all are getting this message! But I think I'll stick with just replacing the thermal paste on my CPU's and GPU's well, just until I get another wild hair up my ass!
Send me a link and I'll send a pic of what it is not supposed to look like and word to the wise, don't try this on a CPU you are currently using and depend on especially if it is for school or business!

On my R5 5600 I have temp difference between cores up to 17*C in Cinebench after heavy OC. Temp are 71, 84, 88, 88, 73, 83

You welcome. Just be careful how you hold it, I've done a lot cpu's with pins, so it's just all about practice and patience.

This is my own tool, but you can just use a razor blade from poly boy or a thin one from Wilkinson

Witch CELLs? If you mean on the ps3, there are no soldered CPUs, not the CELL and also not the RSX
